The Third Year After My Death

After I died, my soul was bound to the hospital.

I floated above, watching the furious Bertha.

She stood with her arms crossed, looking down at the head nurse.

"Bring Alexander out to see me."

I thought she had come to reconcile with me.

My soul stirred, but then froze in place.

Her first love, Daniel, appeared in a wheelchair.

"It's natural for him to resent me. As for my legs, forget it."

Daniel gently touched his legs, his face still handsome and his demeanor cold even in the wheelchair.

Years had passed, and his charm seemed even more refined.

Bertha loved his aloof and exceptional temperament. Seeing her beloved man so dejected, she exploded.

Bertha swept everything off the nurse's station and shouted at the nurses,

"If those foreign doctors hadn't said amputation was necessary, would I have come back to find him?"

"Doctors are supposed to save lives, but he mixs personal feelings with work and refuses to treat a patient. I would definitely complain about this hospital's discrimination against patients."

Watching her frantic state, I smiled bitterly.

Bertha had always been proud and arrogant since childhood. She studied ballet under a famous teacher and looked down on everyone.

Since meeting the elegant Daniel, she had been deeply infatuated.

They sought thrills abroad and tried cliff diving.

Daniel's equipment malfunctioned mid-jump, causing him to fall from the mountainside. He survived but his legs were crippled.

Foreign medical experts all said that amputation was necessary to save his life.

Only then did Bertha think of returning home to find me to treat her beloved.
