Chapter 2. Let's Say Goodbye

"It's okay, Keen." I saw Aunt Belinda starting to pull on her lips. The middle-aged woman smiled so sweetly, as if nothing had happened between us.

Keenan walked with confident steps, and his eyes looked towards us. His warm undertone skin, fresh and tidy face, and healthy natural black hair made him even more charming. I couldn't deny that looking at Keenan was like looking at the sunset on the western horizon, making me forget about everything.

Not only handsome, Keenan also had a charming charisma. Born of the Wardhana lineage, he radiated an aura of nobility that made everyone around him fascinated. He had a powerful appeal and made every woman close to him attracted to his ability to attract attention.

Keenan is a complete man. Besides being handsome and rich, he is also kind and polite. How could I not be immersed in his perfect charm? I felt like I was flying in a dream, a dream that I didn't want to end.

However, I realized that getting close to Keenan could backfire on me. I don't want to hope too much to the point of getting hurt and disappointed. But, I know that my spellbound feeling cannot be avoided. Keenan makes me feel special and happy.

"Earlier I heard there was noise. Is everything okay?" he asked, full of inquiries when he was near us.

I saw Aunt Belinda put the check in her hand into her skirt pocket. She then approached Keenan and patted his shoulder.

"Yes, dear, there was a bit of a commotion here, but don't worry. Kiara wanted Mom to help her find a gift for your anniversary. Mom has told her that she doesn't need to give you anything as a gift, but Kiara insists," the woman covered up.

Keenan looked at me, and I could see a sweet smile on his lips. "My dear, I've already told you, you don't need to give me any gift for our anniversary," he whispered.

Aunt Belinda interrupted, "That's what Mom already told her, but you can see for yourself. Kiara is very stubborn."

I felt a little nervous, but I didn't want to disappoint Keenan. "I'm sorry, I just don't want you to be disappointed," I said, while holding back the turmoil in my chest.

Keenan approached me, then he held both my shoulders. "It doesn't matter, my love. You don't have to give me any gift. Let me be the one who will give you a gift now," he said with affection.

"Well, do you want to have dinner here? Let Mom cook something for you later," Aunt Belinda said.

Keenan released his hands from my shoulders and turned to his mother. "I think it would be better if we dine outside, Mom," Keenan said softly.

Aunt Belinda nodded and smiled. "Okay then, I hope you both can enjoy your evening."

Keenan looked at me with a sweet smile on his face, and I could feel the vibration in my heart. I felt happy because he chose to spend his time with me outside, although I wasn't sure where we were going.

After bidding farewell and giving salutations, we left the house and headed to a luxury car parked on the side of the road. Keenan opened the door for me and politely helped me get into the car.

"Thank you," I said.

Keenan just nodded, then he walked to the driving seat.

Keenan drove the car skillfully, and I couldn't stop being amazed by the scenery that passed by along the way. Tall buildings towering with various falling lights added to the enchanting beauty of the night.

However, my mind quickly shifted to my uncertainty. I remembered Aunt Belinda's words that continued to want me to stay away from Keenan. How heavy my heart was to hear that.

Oh God, I couldn't bear it if everything had to end just like that.

We have been in a relationship for five years, and even though there were sometimes problems and disagreements, we still love and cherish each other. I never want to lose him from my life, because Keenan is everything to me.

"Dear, what's wrong? Why have you been lost in thought?"

My thoughts were interrupted when Keenan spoke up and touched my hand.

"Oh, it's nothing." I said, turning towards him.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded.

What would become of my life if our trip was ruined? We had been through so much together over the last five years, and I still loved Keenan deeply. I felt anxious at the thought of losing someone so important to me.

I didn't know what to do, felt confused and didn't know how to face this. I was afraid and didn't want to lose Keenan.

I and Keenan finally arrived at a restaurant with a beautiful view. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner and savored the delicious and simple dishes. We talked about everything, shared stories, and laughed at the silly things between us.

"Do you like the food here?" asked Keenan, reaching for a tissue to wipe my lips that food has stained.

"I love it, Keen! You always know the best places to eat!" I praised with a friendly smile.

Yes, I admit, Keenan has exceptional taste and always finds the best places to eat when we're together. I'm never disappointed with his food choices, and I'm often impressed with his recommendations.

Keenan just chuckled softly, and I couldn't help but smile when I saw his sweet face.

When dinner was over, Keenan invited me to take a walk along the nearby beach. I felt incredibly happy to be by Keenan's side, and we had an unforgettable evening on the sand, combined with a very beautiful and romantic night view.

"Dear," said Keenan with a serious look that made me curious. "There's something I have to tell you."

My forehead creased with curiosity. "What?" I asked, already anticipating what would happen next.

I saw Keenan reach into his pocket. Presumably he was going to take something from there, after his hand had already come out of that pocket. I saw a bright red velvet heart-shaped box in his hand.

Keenan knelt in front of me, his knees touching the white sand. Although confused, my heart raced as if I already knew what was going to happen. Keenan opened the box, and inside was a beautiful silver ring.

"Dear, happy fifth anniversary of our relationship. I hope in this year, our relationship will continue to be maintained and keep going together forever. Thank you for always being by my side and being my companion all this time. I'm sorry if there are many shortcomings and mistakes I've made in treating you. Kiara Dewi Anggraeni, will you be my wife? Living every day with me, even when we grow old and even forever?" He said, staring at me with a pleading look. I could see his eyes were teary.

Before I realized it, tears flowed down my cheek. I cried and couldn't say a word about Keenan's actions. Right now, everything seemed different. The sky became darker, the white sand became smoother, the beach wind felt colder, and everything looked so beautiful.

Suddenly, the day I had been waiting for arrived, and Keenan finally proposed to me. We had been holding onto our feelings for each other for a long time, and that moment made everything come true. However, everything had to be ruined when Aunt Belinda ordered me to leave Keenan.

I was speechless and in disbelief, as if a spear had just stabbed through my heart, my heart was broken into pieces. As if everything suddenly disappeared and disappeared into thin air.

While sobbing, I said, "Please forgive me."

Keenan raised his eyebrows, seemingly not understanding what I had just said. "Why?" he asked.

"I can't accept it," I replied. "Let's break up.”
