Chapter 10

I smiled. “At last, you showed your face to me.”

His forehead creased. He removed his arm on my waist. Nevertheless, I inched closer to him and caressed his cheeks. I feel better now because of his presence. And as a way to thank him, I moved and positioned myself on top of him.

I was surprised when I saw him wearing jeans. I reached for his lips and kissed him. He seemed surprised, but only for a minute. Not long after and he kissed me back. I found myself smiling. Every time he would kiss me, it was as if I have found the perfect place for me. It was as if we were connected in ways I couldn’t fathom.

My hand touched his chest while my other hand went down to his zipper. That strong surge of need in my body was back. And this time, I’m more than willing to be swayed. I wanted to forget the logical part of me even for a while.

But the kiss did not last. The stranger ended it and stopped my hand from pulling down the zipper of his jeans.

“You can kiss me all you want when you are no longer sick. And even if you do more than that, I wouldn’t mind. That’s why if you want to kiss me so badly, then you need to recover quickly. Because darling,” he cleared his throat. “I don't think I can be satisfied with just kissing. And when that time comes, I promise I won’t refuse you anymore.”

I looked at him, utterly confused. “What are you saying? I’m not sick-“

“Yes, you are. You’re already burning hot with fever when I brought you home last night. There was no one here to take care of you that’s why I decided to stay to attend to your needs.”

My eyes narrowed. But after a few seconds, I laughed. “You’ve got to be kidding me! What do you mean you brought me home? We met here, remember? I was in the kitchen when you suddenly appeared.”

“I knew it,” the stranger shook his head. “You’re still dreaming.”

His hands went on my back as if he was assisting me when he got up and sat on the bed. And because I was still on top of him, I landed on his lap while my hand remained on his chest and my other hand remained on his zipper that I somehow managed to pull down.

“Wake up. This is reality, darling,” he said as he grinned. “Last night was epic, though. We met at the bar. You were so drunk when I approached you. And you fainted. But that was because you didn’t eat and sleep properly these past few weeks. You have been abusing yourself.” his smile faded. “Seriously, woman, what are you planning to do with yourself?”

My eyes widened. “H-how did you know all that?”

He was taken aback for a moment. And then he shrugged. “Have you forgotten? You told me about that at the bar last night.”

Bar. Drunk. Last night. I gasped when realization finally hit me. Oh, God! I thought I was still dreaming. But as it turned out, all these… were real.
