Chapter 6

Ashley POV

"Just one"I said waiting anxiously for his reply.

"Can't we just meet up somewhere"Adam replied.

"Oh ok, where should we meet"I asked

"Let's meet in Joe's pizza "Adam replied.

"Okay thanks"I said as I end the call immediately, letting out a heavy sigh.

I made my way to the reception office where I met Freya.

"Sis what are we going to do? We can't afford to lose mom"Freya said as she burst into tears.

"Please don't cry, you need to be strong, mom is gonna be fine, okay?"I replied, hugging Freya so tight.

"How are we going to get the hospital bills"Freya asked.

"Don't worry, just go back home, I will try all my possible best to get the hospital bills"I replied

"Make it snappy, mom need urgent medical treatment"Freya said as she walked out of the reception office.

I also made my way outside the hospital and took a cab back home, I got home and took a brief shower and I slipped into one of the stunning gowns, a floor length, strapless designer masterpiece. Actually it was my best outfit ever.

The gown fitted me perfectly showcasing my curves, while the flowing silk chiffon skirt shone in the light.

The gown was a soft, blush pink hue, with intricate beadings and was a true showstopper.

After applying a light layer of makeup, I made my way out of my room and caught a cab, hopped in and settled down inside the cab

"Joe's Pizza, please," I told the driver.

As we arrived at Joe's Pizza, the bright neon sign caught my eye. The exterior was unassuming, but the aroma of freshly baked dough and pizza wafted from within the building.

Upon entering, I was greeted by the cozy atmosphere and vintage decor. Different posters and checkered tablecloths added to the cozy atmosphere.

Joe's Pizza was a classic New York pizzeria, serving some of the city's best slices since 1975. It was one of the most expensive restaurant in New York City.

I took a seat at the bar, scanning around if I would see Adam, but he was no where to be found. The bartender, a friendly Brooklyn native, walked up to me

"Would you like to have pizza"he asked

"No am actually waiting for someone"I replied as I declined the order, focusing on why I was here.

Minutes later, the door swung open, and Adam walked into the bar.

Adam was a vision of perfection. His new haircut accentuated his chiseled features, and the subtle gold tint in his hair added to his cuteness. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room, locking onto mine with an unmistakable spark.

He strode confidently towards me, his broad shoulders and muscular physique commanding attention. The fitted white shirt and dark jeans showcased his athletic build, leaving little to the imagination.

I couldn't look away as he walked up to me; he was ridiculously cute. Every woman's desire, I must confess. His captivating smile drew me in, making my heart skip a beat.

As he approached, the women around us couldn't help but stare, their eyes lingering on his striking features. Adam's presence was magnetic, and I was not immune to his charm.

"Hey," he said, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. "Mind if I join you?"

"Sure, I am here to see you"I replied

He slid onto the stool beside me, as he gazed at me, sending my senses into overdrive.

"So, didn't you order anything?" Adam asked, noticing the empty table.

"I didn't," I replied. "I needed to focus on why I'm here."

Adam nodded and signaled the bartender. "Can we have a bottle of your finest wine, please."

The bartender arrived with the wine and two glasses. As he poured, Adam's eyes never left mine.

We clinked glasses and sipped our wine in silence, the tension between us palpable.

"So, are you ready to sign the contract marriage?" Adam asked, his voice low and serious.

I swallowed hard, my mind racing. I needed to do this for my sick mother, to pay her hospital bills and settle other debts.

"I've made up my mind," I said finally. "But can I ask, what's in it for me?"

Adam's expression turned thoughtful, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Fair question. You'll receive a substantial settlement, enough to cover your mother's medical expenses and more. Plus, you'll gain access to my network and resources."

I hesitated. "And what about... personal expectations?"I asked.

Adam handed me a sleek folder containing the contract. "This outlines the terms and conditions of our arrangement," he whispered, his eyes locked on mine. "Take a week to review it, and once you're satisfied, sign and return it to my office."

I nodded, my heart racing. "Okay."

With that, Adam stood and left the bar, leaving me alone with the weighty document.

I sighed heavily, tucking the folder into my bag. The contract's implications swirled in my mind as I walked out of the bar and hailed a cab.

As the taxi drove me home, questions swirled in my mind

"Will I regret this contract marriage?

I'm doing this for Mom's hospital bills, but what if I fall for Adam?

What if our pretend marriage becomes real?" I asked myself.

The taxi driver's occasional glances in the rearview mirror were the only interruptions to my thoughts.

As we approached my house, I realized I had more questions than answers.
