Even after learning the truth, Scarlett continued to appear lost.
"All I know is that I'm an orphan, mom." She was reluctant to accept it. She walked to her father. "Dad, you both are the only parents I know and will continue to be. Where have they been for the past twenty years of my life?"
"My love, they were searching for you. We learned yesterday that the Alpha has been looking for you for the past twenty years. Only after leaving the hospital did they discover that someone evil had taken you away after birth, and ever since then, they have been searching for you. They have finally located you and have sent people to bring you back."
Just as she was about to say something else, there was a car honk, which caused them to stop and turn toward the door, even though the person who was approaching wouldn't go inside unless being given permission to.
"I think they've arrived, darling," Crisela spoke, and even though her eyes were still filled with pain, she grinned.
"Mother!" As Scarlett called, more tears fell on her cheeks. "I'm not leaving. I do not want to go anywhere. I want to stay here with you both. My parents."
"Do not say something like that, love. Don't cry. You should see this as a good thing. It's a good change for you. You deserve it." Crisela tried to console her.
It's not a good thing to be torn away from your family. The only family she had ever known was going to be torn from her. The only ones that truly loved her. She was unwilling to give that up.
"Please don't say that, Mother," she said, as she cried harder, "I don't want them. I want you both. I already have you both."
As though communicating with Luke in silence, Crisela turned to face him. Luke continued, saying, "I want you to know that even though you are the alpha's daughter and belong with them, you will always be our only daughter. Your life is going to get even better than we could have imagined, so don't worry." He wiped again at Scarlett's tears.
She was content with her life with them here, not something better. A lifetime of their love together. Even with her biological parents, she didn't think she would find anything like it again.
Luke stepped over to open the door when there was a loud knock. A man with an imposing upper body and a minimum height of six feet three stood in front of the door.
"My name is Lin. I was sent by Alpha Douglas to bring his daughter, Scarlett, home." He spoke in a gruff voice and said it strongly.
She shook her head and nearly burst into tears as Luke turned to face her.
Taking Crisela by the hand, she replied, "Mother, I don't want to go with him."
Crisela's eyes widened in horror; she had never seen her mother exhibit such a degree of fear. She feared that if she refused, it might cause them problems.
Crisela's face was filled with tears. "Scarlett, please don't make things harder for the both of us, my child." She added, clearly in pain and fear, "There is nothing I would do differently if I could turn back the hands of time. There is no greater gift than the one I have, which is you. Please understand that this is not the end. We're still here for you."
She nodded, understanding what her mother was unable to express. The alpha would be upset with them if he found out that she refused to return home. It was not what she wanted for them. It was now her time to repay them for all of their guidance throughout her life.
When she approached Luke, her father drew her into a firm embrace, assuring her that she would always be welcome at their home and would always be a part of their family.
He withdrew, and she strolled towards Lin, the man who was waiting to bring her back. He walked her to the black SUV and waited without saying anything.
At least half a dozen other black SUVs were waiting for her behind it. When he reached the door, he opened it to let her inside. She stopped, and her breathing became labored.
"I need to grab a few of my things." In a panicked voice, she told him.
"I assure you, everything you'll ever need has already been provided for you. You need not worry." He replied.
That was the only conversation they had. He shut the door behind her and climbed in behind her, and they drove silently the rest of the way. They left her small pack behind and traveled several hours to a different Pack.
Despite the fact that it was the longest travel she had embarked on in a while, she tolerated it. She thought about all that had led her to this moment. She had been raised as an Omega for as long as she could remember, and the torments still showed on her body.
She had always believed that her mate would save her from the terrible life she was leading. It turned out that her biological father, not her mate, was the one who needed to be saved.
She adored her parents, Luke and Crisela, despite her hatred of her existence as an Omega; they were the greatest things she could have wished for. She would want them in her life to lead and guide her with their love and care if she could choose over again. She could only hope that she would not feel alienated from them in the same way that she did from her real family.
When they got to the pack mansion, she assumed her father—the alpha—was there. She climbed down and closed the door after
Lin approached and opened it for her.
Her heart was filled with fear. She looked down at herself, wondering what people would make of her here. She hadn't had a shower or even brushed her teeth, and she was still dressed from the previous day. Compared to everything in the setting she had just entered, she was dirty.
He guided her right toward the enormous penthouse while remaining silent. Every stride she took made her anxious, and she held her breath.
She was going to live here from now on?
She felt as though she needed to wake up from this dream-like experience.
They approached the big white penthouse with its enticing architecture. Lin knocked and stood by the door.
The enormous door opened to let them in shortly after. Then Lin intervened, thanking the young woman—who appeared to be a maid. She thanked her as well and turned her attention to the road ahead.
As she looked up, she saw a middle-aged man dressed in white pants and black long sleeves, so it wasn't a very lengthy journey.
She realized that the reason she felt as though she had met him before was because they looked very much alike.
Similar to her, he had blue eyes. His lips were the same shade of red as hers, and his nose resembled hers in shape. Surely he was her father. While she didn't believe it at the time, she does now.
Standing next to him was a pretty woman who was marginally younger than him. She reminded her of herself, with her hazel eyes and red hair, just like hers.
"You must be Scarlett? I am Douglas Cynfael, and this is Elsa Cynfael, my mate," the man said, startling her out of her introspective reverie. "We are your parents, the Alpha and Luna of the Blue Fur Pack."
With a lowered head, Scarlett replied, "My parents informed me." She didn't feel worthy to be among them, for some reason. She was their child, and they were like royalty.
Her anxious thoughts were calmed by the woman's kind smile. "I understand that this is a lot to process at once, but we'll be here to support you. We are here to keep you safe, so you'll never feel alone again. We promise you that."
With nothing further to say, she simply nodded.
Her heartbeat grew erratic and her body lost what little power she still had as soon as the door opened. She was covered in sweat and unable to comprehend what was going on or what could have caused her to become so agitated.
"Where is she?" She was pacified and soothed by an unfamiliar voice, in contrast to the other voices she had heard today. This voice seems to have been her desire from the beginning. She lost her breath the moment she turned around and saw the most stunning man she had ever seen coming her way.
A delicious masculine scent filled her nose. Nothing she had ever sensed before. "MATE" she heard her wolf.
Her legs almost gave up on her as she was blinking quickly. What was going on with her? She pondered, but she was at a loss for words. She'd never felt this way in front of anyone before.
"Where is who exactly? Douglas replied, and the handsome man moved his face to look at her, so he must have pointed to her.
"I'm Mason Stone; You're Scarlett Cynfael. You're my one true mate and the oh one meant for me in the entire world. I have looked everywhere for you and have been told visions and prophecies about you. I won't waste any more time, my love." After saying that, he got down on one knee.
Her heartbeat was almost springing out of her mouth at everything that was happening.
She first awoke in a stranger's embrace and then returned home to find out that her real parents had come for her and she was the daughter of an Alpha. And now, this? She didn't want it to be a dream, but it had to be.
She desired for it to be true. She desired to be a part of this world. The attractive guy noticed her pinch herself and grinned widely, his endearing blue eyes fixed on her. "Yes, my love, it's very real, you're not hallucinating. You're mine." He said to her.
It was her wolf's way of telling her she had found her mate and it was real, and now she knew why she felt the way she did when he entered the room. Her mate was at the same place she was. He was her mate.
Her eyes likewise became watery, albeit the smile that had been on her face had not disappeared. 'Yes, I will marry you, Mason." Grinning, he put the ring on her finger. With a breathless sweet kiss, he closed the space between them as she assisted him in getting to his feet.
They withdrew from the warm hug. Her gaze suddenly locked on a young woman with brown eyes and black hair who was standing in the corner of the room. With her arms folded across her chest, she gazed at her with a spiteful and angry look in her eyes.
