~Adinah~
I was yet to move my feet, hoping that this was a nightmare that someone would instantly wake me up from.
The plan was to move far away from them while executing my revenge scheme but it seemed like these two snakes wanted to be ten steps ahead of me.
“Surprised to see us?” Jeremy inquired, tucking his hands into his pockets and smirking with mischief.
I opened my mouth at first but words failed to slip out, “Y-yeah..”
“I don’t remember inviting you over to my home.” I mustered courage and spoke up.
If I was going to relive my life then I had to be bold or else, I would be their foot mat for the umpteenth time.
“Yeah, you didn’t but the king did and it would be an offense not to honor his invitation.” Sienna instantly responded on their behalf, making me clench my fist as I fought the urge to slap her countless times.
No, I was actually channeling my annoyance to the wrong people because why would Killian invite my enemies over? Even after giving him the details he needed.
Wait….
Was he turning his back on me? No, he wouldn’t!
If that was the case, what could I possibly do? I was yet to figure out how to defeat these two, talkless of three musketeers.
Sienna took a peek into the house, her eyes darting around while putting up her signature fake smile.
“By the way, where is he?”
“I don’t know.” That was all I could say in response.
“Doesn’t he live here with you? Or you live in a different place entirely?” She asked again, hoping that I would return a negative response.
“He does.”
“Welcome us in and stop acting like we’re total strangers.” Jeremy voiced out, obviously tired of the unnecessary chit chat and I instantly put up my friendly behavior so I would not raise suspicion from their end.
Smacking my head and letting a small hiss, I rendered an apology, “My bad, where are my manners? Please, come in.”
They both exchanged eye contact before stepping into the house, “His palace is literally so beautiful.”
“It must be nice.”
“You’re so lucky, Dinah, I’m happy for you.” Sienna asserted, running up to squeeze me into a hug that left me struggling for air.
The fake energy was there but I failed to feel it because I deeply trusted her.
“Thank you,”
“Please, come with me, let me take you to your rooms.” I announced, leading the way as they followed to the guest room.
When we got in, Sienna just kept on making different comments about the luxe design and it gave me the ick.
I thought having Jeremy would be enough for her but it was clear that she was out for me and thank the goddess that I was equally prepared for the battle ahead.
“I would definitely be coming here more often, I know my best friend would be so bored without me.”
Says who? Someone needed to draw her back into reality.
Fighting the urge to scoff, I replied to her in a cold tone, “I’ll be too busy to entertain guests.”
At that moment, her face fell, trying to depict the meaning behind my words which I didn’t care enough to render further explanation.
Jeremy just took the awkward silence as an avenue to bring up another uncomfortable topic, “You’re not planning to stay here for long, are you?”
“What happened to our plans of eloping?”
I nabbed the back of my neck and avoided his eyes while thinking of a sensible answer that would not piss him off.
“Oh that? I didn’t forget, I’m still thinking, babe.”
The corner of his lips curled into a smirk as he moved closer to me and snaked his hands around my waist, “That’s my girl.”
“I know you would never go against any of my instructions.”
Just wait till you find out that you’re dealing with another type of Adinah.
“I’m always a good girl for my daddy.”
“Yeah, that’s right.” He replied, caressing my face as he leaned in to lock his lips against mine in a soft kiss that still seemed to make my skin crawl.
Opening my eyes as our tongues danced with each other, Sienna’s face squeezed into a frown while biting her finger.
The jealousy was so evident and it made me want to attack her right there and then.
Why would a normal person ever want what’s mine? Well, she could have clean up my trash
“You know, Dinah, if I had this luxury, I would never leave Killian.” She just couldn’t resist making such comments.
“Well, she’s nothing like you.” Jeremy answered her.
“Yeah but who’s going to take care of the king when you elope with Jeremy?” She diverted the topic back to her again and I desperately wanted to leave this place.
“He will definitely move on with someone else,”
“Yeah, I heard he has a girlfriend.”
Now this discussion was between them and it was best to leave.
Clearing my throat, I said, “Please, excuse me, I’ve to look for Killian, it’s best that I inform him of your arrival.”
“Alright baby but don’t take too long, okay?” Jeremy smacked my ass as I left and it took a lot of strength in me not to retaliate with a slap.
“I’ll try, the king likes to have me around for long too.” I lied with a straight face as I headed for the door.
As soon as I closed the door, I didn’t even care to wait to hear their discussion as I headed straight to Killian’s office but I was unfortunate enough to not find him there or in his room.
“Please, do you have any idea where his majesty might be?” I questioned a guard on duty.
“Yes, my lady, he is in the training ground.”
He ordered his colleague who immediately complied, “Eric, please take her there.”
When I got there, I didn’t hesitate to bombard him with several questions.
“Killian, what’s the meaning of that stunt you pulled? Inviting them over? Who does that? Why did you do it?”
He didn’t even bother to spare me a glance as he kept training, “A submissive mate would greet before venting out her complaints.”
“Answer the damn question!”
With a nonchalant shrug, he answered, “Obvious reasons,”
He took a quick pause before stating, “Revenge.”
“That can’t happen without their presence in the palace.” He added.
Folding my arms, I tilted my head to side as a question popped in my head, “Why are you even helping me?”
The only answer I got was silence which stayed longer than I expected until I gave up and chose to use the exit.
But that when I heard him whisper, “I don’t know.”
