CHAPTER ONE

A DIREWOLF

Calista's heart raced as she made her way through the forest, the full moon casting shadows on the ground beneath her feet. She was meeting Luciano, the alpha of the pack, and she knew it was a momentous occasion. Her palms were sweaty and her nerves were on edge, but she took a deep breath and told herself to stay calm.

Finally, she reached the clearing where Luciano was waiting for her. He stood tall and proud, his silver eyes shining in the moonlight. He spoke in a low, deep voice, "Calista, it is time for you to take your place as the new alpha of the pack." Calista was taken aback by his words but she didn’t believe every word he spoke, she found herself nodding. She felt a sense of lie and deceit as she walks alongside. Luciano looked at her with pride, and said, "You are ready for this, Calista. You have shown strength, courage, and wisdom. The pack will follow you with loyalty and with that, Calista and Luciano began to walk through the forest, discussing their plans for the pack. Calista felt a surge of excitement as they talked, and she could see a sharp vision ahead of them sensing danger. Suddenly, a loud howl echoed through the trees, and Luciano and Calista froze. The howl was quickly followed by a series of howls, and Calista realized that it was coming from the other side of the forest. Her heart started to race as she turned to Luciano and said, "Something is wrong. We need to go." The two of them began to run, their feet pounding against the ground, so they stopped at the sight a groaning beast.

Luciano took a deep breath, "It is a Direwolf. A great beast and a force of destruction." Calista felt a shiver run down her spine. She had heard stories of Direwolves, but she had never seen one before. She knew that they were dangerous creatures, and she was terrified of what might happen next. Luciano stepped forward, his eyes locked on the Direwolf. He called out, "We mean you no harm. Please, let us pass." The Direwolf snarled and bared its teeth, but it did not move.

A Direwolf is a type of wolf that is much larger than a normal wolf. It is said to be a descendant of an ancient wolf species that is now extinct. Direwolves are known for their strength and ferocity, and they are considered to be dangerous creatures. They are rarely seen in the wild, and many people believe that they are only a myth. Calista and Luciano stood frozen, unsure of what to do next. Then, the Direwolf let out a low growl and slowly approached them. Calista's heart was pounding in her chest. Luciano held up his hand, motioning for Calista to stay back. He took a step towards the Direwolf, holding his ground. The Direwolf stopped moving, its eyes locked on Luciano. They stood like that for what felt like an eternity, and then the Direwolf lowered its head. Luciano let out a breath, and the Direwolf turned and walked away. Calista and Luciano watched as it disappeared into the forest. When it was gone, Luciano turned to Calista and said, "We are safe. Let's keep moving."

Calista and Luciano walked through the forest, their hearts still racing. They kept their eyes open, wary of any more Direwolves that might be lurking in the shadows. The moon was high in the sky, casting a pale light on the forest floor. After walking for what felt like hours, they came to a stream. Calista stopped and bent down to take a drink of the cool, clear water.

Calista and Luciano arrived at Luciano's home, their hearts still pounding from their encounter with the Direwolf. "Thank you for helping us," Calista said to Luciano.

"I don't know what we would have done without you." Luciano smiled. "You're welcome, Calista. I'm glad I could help." They stood there for a moment, the silence hanging between them. Then, Luciano spoke again. "You must be tired. Come inside, and I'll make you something to eat." Calista followed Luciano into his home, and they both entered.

Calista looked around as they entered Luciano's home. It was small and cozy, with a fire burning in the hearth and a comfortable-looking bed in the corner. Since Calista left for a trip, Luciano took his time to renovate the building making it look new to her. Luciano busied himself in the kitchen, and Calista sat down at the table. She watched as Luciano prepared a simple meal of bread and cheese. When it was ready, he set the food down on the table and joined Calista. They ate in silence for a few minutes, and then Luciano spoke. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that today. It must have been frightening." Calista nodded. "It was but it also made me realize something," Calista continued. "I've been so focused on my quest, I haven't taken the time to really appreciate what's around me. And now I know that I want to take more time to enjoy the simple things in life, like a good meal and the company of a friend." Luciano smiled.

"I think that's a very wise perspective. Sometimes we forget to stop and appreciate the moment we're in. I'm glad you've come to that realization." Calista smiled back at Luciano. The two of them sat there, enjoying the warmth of the fire and the peace

As Luciano and Calista sat there, a quiet moment passed between them. Calista looked up at Luciano, and their eyes met. Suddenly, a spark seemed to pass between them, and they leaned towards each other. Their lips met in a gentle kiss, and for a moment, the world seemed to fade away. When they pulled apart, they were both blushing. Calista smiled at Luciano.

"Thank you for being there for me," she said. Luciano smiled back. "It's my pleasure," he replied. And in that moment, they both knew that something had changed between them.
