Chapter 1

Heather's point of view:

"Are you headed to the cafeteria?" Jessica, one of my friends asked.

"Yes," I replied to her.

"I think you need to quit this job. That job isn't letting you look after yourself." Ivy complained.

"I need money, okay?" I replied to her.

"So which house are we going to study this night?" Caden asked.

"Heather's," Sam replied to him.

"Oh!" They all exclaimed.

I know that sound.

The last time they came to my house, it was so dirty, littered with my dad's empty alcohol bottles and his used plates. And the whole house reeked of his vomit.  They couldn't even stay a minute there.

"What, guys? Okay, I have apologized for the lady time. I promise it won't be like that this time." I said to them all.

"Well, we can get a library then," Ivy suggested.

"I apologized to you guys already. Why are guy guys being like this? Okay, if the house isn't neat and inviting when you guys come, then my place will be forever canceled for reading place." I tried to convince them as I pleaded with them.

It is our final exam in high school and we are starting next week.

So we decided to do our normal reading routine.

"Gosh! Okay, I am in." I know Jessica will support me no matter what, she is my closest friend out of them all.

"Okay, I am in." Sam agreed.

"Same here. We are friends after all." Caden smiled at me.

We all looked at Ivy who still wore that confused and angry expression on her face.

It took her a minute to roll and eyes and shrugged he shoulders.

"Fine. I can't reject it when they all agree." She said with no interest.

Ivy's family is a bit rich and she is the only daughter of her parents just like me but she is a spoilt brat. She gets irritated easily.

And that's why she doesn't want to come to my house.

"Thank you all." I hugged Ivy.

"I promise it will be neat. Let me go and assist the chef then " I waved at them as I went inside the kitchen.

"Hello, Heather. You came just in time." The head chef said as she faced me with a smile on her face.

"Hello, Henley," I said to her.

"Mrs. Granola isn't around today, so I think you are in charge of serving the students." She growled.

"Henley. I can't do that. You know what happened the last time I served the food." I removed my coat and I hung it on the hanger.

"I am so sorry, Heather but you have to do it. She is not around and you know we are short of staff. Only Rachel and I are cooking for today and only Rina is serving which will be so hectic for her. Don't worry, I will give you a bonus." She smiled at me.

I sighed.

"What if that happens again?" I asked her.

"It can't." It has been addressed by the school authorities, so if they pull a spring like that on you, then they will be getting a suspension." She tried to convince me.

As if they will!

The lady time I served the food to the students. One of the school bullies, Violette, and her friends decided to play a prank on me.

They all poured their food on me. It was reported to the school authorities but they did nothing about it, they were only given a warning and I became the laughingstock of the school for that week straight.

"Will you serve them?" She asked me.

Like I have a choice.

"I will," I mumbled.

"That's my girl. Now, let's get to work." She said.

I changed my dress and I tied my hair up in a ponytail.

I went out of the kitchen and I used my mouth shield.

"You are helping me today?" Tina asked me.

I nodded at her.

"Good luck with that, then," she said as she continued serving.

I started seeing my colleagues and it was just as it should be.

I sighed at the boredom.

Then, I spotted Violette and her crew were coming.

My heart raced than usual as I was afraid of what they were going to do to me.

I wore my friend as I served the students.

"Oh! You are in charge today, poor girl!" Violette smirked.

"Yes, do you have any problem with it?" I asked her.

"Yes. I don't want you to use your filthy hands to serve my food." She glared at me.

"Then, you should be full with the one on your plate," I smirked at her.

"How dare you?!" She fumed.

"Are you troubling her, Violette?" My crew came to her.

"What the fuck are you all doing here?" She glared at Jessica.

"We just want to make sure her work is going so well without any disturbance." Jessica glared at her.

"Oh! Whatever, just serve me my food."  She brought her plate forward.

I served her food and she glared at me before leaving and the same goes for her friends.

"Thank you, guys," I said to my friends and they went to their seats.

I sighed in relief.

"Are you okay?" Rina asked me.

"I was never okay." I smiled at her.

"Thank you guys for today," I said to them as we went out of the school building.

"I knew she was going to act funny, I am glad we put her in her place." Ivy smiled.

"I have to go now so that I can prepare for the night," I said to them.

"Say less. We got you." Sam said.

"Thank you," I said to them as I headed home.

I trekked home since my house wasn't that far from school.

I got to the old apartment and headed to my floor.

I opened the door to my small shabby apartment and it smelled as always.

I wasn't surprised when I met the house being trashy.

I cleaned the house before leaving the house today but my dad being my dad had trashed the whole house.

I am sure he brought home his friends.

I started cleaning up the living room.

Then I spotted my dad sleeping on the floor. I rushed to him and tapped him.

"Dad!" I called him. He must be so drunk.

"Dad!" I tapped him harder this time.

"Dad!"

"Yes?"

"Get up, my friends are coming over.", I yelled.

"Okay, okay. I am sorry I got wasted." He apologized as he tried to get up.

He got up and stumbled back, I rushed to his side to help him.

"Are you okay, dad?" I asked him.

"I am sorry, I am." I helped him to get up as I led him to his room.

I never complained about his drinking. I understand his situation as long as he doesn't fuck the good relationship we have together up.

His drinking habit started when we lost Mom, about four years ago.

We lost her to a car accident.

That's a memory I don't even want to remember.

I quickly cleaned up and ordered what my friends could eat when they came over.

After I was done cleaning the house. I set my alarm as I slept off.

Two hours later, the alarm woke me up.

I messaged them to start coming.

I hope this doesn't flop.
