Chapter 8: Pains of Betrayal

:Rhys:

I don't know how long it has been, but it felt like eternity since I was left bleeding and chained to the dungeon walls.

Zyane had tried to make small talk with me but I made it very clear that it was because of his mate that we're even in this hell hole.

I haven't told him that the white haired women was my potential mate. I haven't confirmed it with her yet, so I wasn't even sure if she felt the bond at all. It felt so ironic thinking that not even a week ago, I was the one rejecting that wolf who had come to me claiming that I was her potential mate. And now, Karma the Bitch has bit me in the ass with all her might and this is my punishment.

As promised, no food or water had arrived and I was pretty sure I was ready to drink my own blood like a goddamned vampire to quench my thirst...only if I could reach any part of my body.

The silver bullet in my shoulder kept the blood from clotting and it hurt like a bitch. Every time I tried to move or even flex my arms, the wound would start gushing blood. It hurt too damn much, but the betrayal hurt even more. But most of all, it hurts to think why the hell did I feel betrayed in the first place.

:Mink:

Mink was woken from her short slumber by a crash outside her door.

Sighing, she threw back her quilt and rose from her bed wearing a full sleeve green sweater and black cargo pants. She already knew what was happening outside the door, there was no need to hurry.

After pulling her snow white hair into a messy bun, she opened her door just in time to witness Aya jab her first into a males face, breaking his nose.

"Don't get blood on the carpet", she warned her little sister.

Aya looked up at her with a smirk. "Too late", she indicated towards a dark patch forming on the red carpet of the hallway. Blood gushing out of the males’ broken nose.

"You", she pointed at the male, “out. And you", to Aya, "clean up your mess".

"What?!" Aya cried in horror while the male gave a half snort, which only earned him a glare and another kick in the butt. "Why do I need to clean up? It was his fault", Aya wined after the male had taken the opportunity to run for the hills.

"You broke his nose", Mink pointed out matter of factly.

“Well he shouldn't have challenged me!" Aya huffed.

" What's got you so on edge? " Mink asked sitting on her bed Indian style.

"My mate". Aya gritted out.

Mink nodded in understanding. She had felt that same bond with that Alpha. But she hadn't told that to anyone, even to Aya. She couldn't. It felt like a betrayal of everything that she stood for. Everything that she had been through had taught her never to trust a male ever again. The very existence of the bond felt like a betrayal to her and her wolf. And betrayal hurts like a bitch.

Which also made her realize, much to her amazement, that the so called Alpha and his punk were still in the dungeons and she’d forgotten to get them out on time.
