Chapter 5

Ondina

"Did I tell you, you look really good in that dress?"

"Yeah. Only a hundred times."

"Well, then you should know I mean it." Ondina giggled.

"Where are we going, Mason?" Ondina asked.

A smile danced across Masons face. "It's a suprise." He replied.

Ondina studied his face. His blond hair layed in curls on his head while his nose stood at attention on his face. His thin lips pulled back to reveal perfect white teeth and his crystal blue eyes were complimented by long dark lashes.

‘I'm so lucky.’ Ondina thought to herself. ‘How did I get so lucky to have the most popular guy in school ask me to prom?’ Mason grabbed hold of Ondinas hand, pulled it up to his lips, and kissed it. She blushed, then looked out the passengers window. Mason drove along the Crystal beach and parked.

"Ready?" Mason asked.

"For what?"

"Just come on." Ondina followed Mason out of the car and up the beach. There was a Light house that sat at the far side of the beach.

"My dad built this light house." Mason said.

"Oh yeah. I forgot your dad was an architect."

"How could you? He practically designed and rebuilt nearly everyone's homes." Mason said.

‘Well yeah... except mine.’ She thought to herself. Ondinas family wasn't exactly wealthy. She only got into Clarence View High School because her mother worked for a woman who knows one of the board members.

"You coming or what?" Mason asked with his hand extended. She grabbed his hand and allowed him to lead her through the light house doors and up the stairs. Once they reached the top, Ondina looked around in aw.

"I didn't expect it to look like this up here."

"Look like what?" Confusion was written all over Masons face.

"Its...... open. And a lot bigger than I thought. It looks like it's supposed to be smaller."

"It's the whole point of my dads designs. Hes always going on and on about illusions. Saying stuff like, just because its small doesn't mean it's far away or something like that ."

"Yeah.... that's not weird."

"Yeah. He is kinda weird, I guess."

He walked to the back of the room. "I'll be right back." Mason said.

He pulled a string that opened a small square in the celling. He reached his hand up, and unfolded a latter. Ondina watched him climb up the latter and disappear into the dark square. She walked around the big empty room while she waited, deciding to rest against a wall by the windows and stare out at the view of the beach. Watching the waves unfold repeatedly, washing away the memories each person left in the sand that day.

"Okay." Mason said while climbing down the latter. Ondina noticed he had what looked to be blankets and candles.

He jumped down the last three, and extended his arms as far as they could go while holding the blankets and candles. "Tah Dah!!" He said with the biggest smile. He's such a goof. A handsome one too. Ondina blushed.

Mason made a pallet out of the blankets and scattered the candles around the room.

"There. That's better." Mason walked over to Ondina and grabbed hold of her hands. "Come here." He walked her over to the pallet he had made and they sat down together.

"Oh! Almost forgot!" Mason reached into his back pocket and pulled out a flask.

"What's a party without drinks?" He joked.

After taking a swig, he handed the flask to Ondina. She didn't reject and drank. They talked about what their futures would be like and laughed at their memories of high school. Ondina never felt more comfortable around anyone before.

"Yeah-I drank to much." Ondina announced with a hick up. Ondina layed down on her back and rubbed her hands through her pressed hair. The room is spinning. Ondina giggled.

"You really do look good in that dress. I bet you look even better without it." She giggled at Masons comments.

"Wouldn't you want to know."

Mason, taking that as an invitation, he proceeded to find out. He rolled her over on her side, and unzipped her nude formal gown.

"Mason, what are you doing?" Ondina asked with laughter.

He continued to undo her clothing. Now out of her dress, Ondina covered her breast and tried to sober up.

"Not funny mason." She slurred.

Mason climbed on top of her and removed what was left. He used his knee to spread her thighs. Panic erupted through Ondinas chest.

"Mason." Ondina said barely above a whisper.

He readied himself, and entered her, taking away what made her pure, what made her who she was. Crushing any fantasy she had of him and showing her his true self.

"No!"
