« I said you need to make Tatiana your queen, you need to marry her, I’ve already told her and we’ve started planning the wedding already, we’ll do it after the ball next week. »

She was absolutely beaming with happiness and it angered me to no end.

« I will do no such thing ! I will not take her to the ball and I sure as hell will not marry that bitch ! » I roared.

« Titus don’t you dare talk to me that way ! You will do as I saw because it is what is best for you. »

I tried to reign in my anger, but it was a futile attempt.

« And what do you suppose I do with my mate ? Do you want me to keep her on the side as a mistress or would you rather I just get rid of her and send her away ? »

And without a bat of an eye she said with absolute certainty « Yes, that’s exactly what I expect you to do. »

Luckily Michael was fast enough to pin me against the wall before I lunged at my mother’s throat. My loud growls must have alerted the guards I had posted at the door because they, along with my father came rushing in. The guards helped Michael pin me to the wall, just barely.

« Titus calm down ! »

I completely ignored my father’s command and continued to struggle against my captors. Lucky for them though, Michael knew exactly what to say to calm me down.

« Titus, man you need to calm down, what if she wakes up right now all she’s going to see is you trying to attack your mother, she’ll be afraid of you. »

The thought of my mate fearing me calmed me down immediately and a shot a glance over to her to see if she was awake, but as she had for the last two months, she was asleep.

I nodded at the men holding me back, letting them know that I had calmed down and they let me go. I could tell my father was angry because he yelled, it wasn’t something that he does often.

« Will someone explain what the hell is going on in here ? »

‘Why don’t you ask her dad. »

He turned to my mother. « What’s going on Christina ? »

« He’s making a big fiasco out of nothing. I simply told him that he will be taking Tatiana to the ball next week and that since his mate is in a coma and therefore useless for the luna position, he will marry Tatiana and she will be queen. It’s already planned out and that’s how things will be. »

My dad looked beyond shocked that his wife, his mate, would suggest something like that.

« And what is he supposed to do with his mate ? »

« I simply suggested that he either keep her on the side as a mistress or he could get rid of her, send her away to a different pack. »

I let out another vicious growl. My father looked appalled at the words that had left my mother’s mouth.

« Christina what has gotten into you, I know you only care for his well-being but he’s a grown man, he can make his own decisions. Now let’s leave so he can calm down and spend some time with his mate. »

They left the room in silence. I looked around at the men in the room, happy to see that they felt the same way I did, but I needed to be alone so I sent them all out.

I walked back over to my mate and traced my finger gently down her jaw.

« I need you to wake up now sweetheart, please. »

Titus’ POV

Another week had passed and it was the night of the ball. I was already dressed in my tux and I looked like a real king right now. Since this was a formal event it was required that I wear my royal robes and crown. I wasn’t a fan of the robe so I ditched it and only wore the crown.

I still had a few minutes to spare before I had to make my entrance so I decided to stop by the hospital to check in on my mate. When I got there I was surprised to see that she had most of the tubes removed. All that were left was the IV, the feeding tube, and the oxygen tube in her nose. She looked much better today and I took that as a sign that she wouldn’t be asleep for much longer, maybe another week or two I hoped.

My watch beeped, telling me that it was time for me to go and I sighed, I dint want to leave her, I never did. I leaned and kissed her on the forehead like always and made my way out of the room.

I made my way to the castle that we used for formal events like this and stood behind the double doors that I would walk through for my introduction.

« And now, the guest of honor, the alpha king, Titus Lockwood ! »

The double doors opened and I made my way down the stairs. I acknowledged the polite applause with a wave and I made my way down the marble staircase.

Everyone went back to mingling and o looked through the crowd for Michael. I found him by the bar, holding a beer.

« Hey man, what’s going on ? »

« I hate these things, I won’t be staying long, I want to see her before I go to bed. »

« You’re already whipped man and you haven’t even spoken to her yet. »

I laughed at his joke, but I knew he was right, I was already whipped.

We had been talking for about an hour when Michael’s face drained itself of all color. I followed his gaze across the ballroom and rage bubbled in my chest. What the fuck. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, Tatiana was across the room talking to some women but that wasn’t what was bothering me. What was bothering me was the fact that she had a crown on her head, the crown made for the queen. I was enraged at the fact that my mates crown was on her head.

I all but ran over to her and she had the nerve to smile at me when she finally noticed me closing in on her.

« Hi honey, we were just talking about the wedding preparations. »

I ignored her comment and let out a low growl at her.

« Why the fuck is that crown on your head ? You are not my queen and you never will be. »

She pouted and stomped her foot.

« Yes I will be the queen, your mother said so. »

I gave her my coldest glare and I snatched the crown from her head.

« You will never rule beside me, I don’t give a shit what my mother promised you I’m the king and what I say goes. Don’t you ever touch anything that belongs to my mate. »

She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

« Well Titus, your mother says that your mate is in a coma so she isn’t exactly fit to rule beside you. »
