Emily’s POV
I left Logan’s office and as soon as I stepped out, I began to mutter words to myself.
“Like what the hell is this young man problem?!” I groaned lowly and made an attempt to hit the door but I could somehow feel eyes on me, slowly turning to my right, I saw the other handsome man I saw earlier with Logan this morning standing a little bit far from me but his eyes was fixed on me with a ‘what is going on’ look on his face.
“Oh shit!” I cussed beneath my breath as I pulled my hands away immediately and looked at my wrist with a fake smile, “Oh, my wrist watch looks charming. Jayden you know what I love.” I faked a laugh as I walked away.
He would definitely think I am a freak!
I walked back into my office with a face like nothing serious ever happened.
Who would be happy to hear that the same lady that gave such a wonderful speech then would be the same lady running errands for the CEO when I am not employed as the person that’s supposed to do so?
I ignored the eyes on me and walked back to my table with a fake smile on my face,
A lady’s voice was heard behind me.
“What do you think happened? Why would Mr. Logan call her into his office and she would come out looking happy?”
I paused after hearing that statement, “What is that supposed to mean?” I asked myself lowly but again Dan heard me.
“Well, whenever Mr. Logan calls his employee into his office, it is either he scolds them or he fires them and some times, he does that outside his office.” He replied as he leaned back to look at me with a side smile.
“Yeah, he is right. So now they are wondering why he called you into his office.” Kaylee replied and I faked a laugh.
There is no way I will tell her why he did, “Oh, now they think he called me to scold me?” I asked lowly and she nods her head slowly at me.
“Well, he called me to congratulate me.” I said, intentionally taking my voice a bit higher so that the curious employees would have a peace of mind, or the other.
“What for real?” that same voice gasped behind me.
Damn, what is her problem???
“You should not listen to Aria, she is so crazy over the boss that she could do anything to get him.” Kaylee whispered to me.
“Oh, wow….” I mouthed with a shrug and sat up to resume work, leaving them to continue their side talks about me going to Logan’s office.
I dropped the book he gave to me on my desk with an angry pout, “I can’t imagine this… what is his problem exactly?” I said in my thoughts as I glared at the book.
Jayden must not hear of this, my parents shouldn’t either.
“Emily, just forget what happened earlier and focus on your job.” I whispered to myself in my head.
Logan’s POV
Leo walked into my office with a carved brow, “Wait, didn’t you leave?” I asked him
“I forgot something.” He replied as he walked to my table and picked up some cash.
“Thanks bro.” he winks at me and turned away to leave but stopped his steps.
“Wait, what’s going on between you and Emily?”
“Sorry?”
“Emily the employee.” He added and I scoffed
“What sort of annoying question is that? What would I want to be doing with that crazy fellow?” I scoffed and he sighed.
“Oh okay…” he turned to leave again but stopped.
Leo kept asking me what is going on between Emily and me. As annoying as his question sounds, I refused to answer such question.
He sounded as if Emily and I have some connections or something and I really can’t imagine myself with a psycho like her.
“What’s with that face?” he asked me
“What sort of questions are you asking young man?” I replied and he sighed.
“Oh, shit I forgot you said your situation.” He replied lowly and I sighed.
“Now you remember, thank goodness you do.” I sarcastically replied as I rolled my eyes.
“Even if you have the fear of falling in love, you could at least try to love someone…you know the only way to solve your fears is by trying to beat it.” He said to me and I stared at him blankly.
“What are you trying to say? I should love that employee?” I scoffed.
“No, that is not what I am trying to say. Do not misunderstand me.” He replied as he slapped his forehead.
“Well, I already misunderstood you. It is best you don’t even talk about her.” I replied and he rolled his head.
“Anyways, I find her cute…what do you think?” he asked me.
“Leo!!!” I exclaimed and saw him burst into laughter.
“What is it? I am just saying my mind.”
“Go for her then, don’t disturb me about her again please.” I groaned while he sat comfortably, laughing his ass out.
“Wait one last question.”
“Now what? Oh goodness what on earth came over you today.” I groaned aloud as I rubbed my fingers against my temple.
“What were you discussing with her here? I mean, all the staffs here know when you call your employee into your office, you are either going to scold them or fire them…so which did you do to her?” he asked
“Leo, could you stop asking me questions, and besides….you seem eager to know. Why? You love her already?” I asked him as I sat up on my chair.
“What if I do, she looks like a good one.” He replied.
I laughed out immediately, “Who would want to be with a clumsy lady? You have a bad taste man.” I clicked my tongue disappointedly.
“I should be saying that to you, were you able to speak to your dad?” he replied and my face dropped immediately.
“Do you have to ruin my mood…?” I muttered as I sat back and fold my hands, pulling them close to my chest.
“I am just concerned…” he replied
“Well thanks for showing concern, you and I know my parents and I are not on good terms.” I replied.
“Yeah, sorry man.”
“You never answered me, about Emily.” He replied
“What exactly do you want to know?” I asked out of frustration
“Why she was here.” He replied with a shrug .
“When you see her, you would know what I did to her.” I replied with a side smile.
“Fine, I have to leave now then. Catch up with you later.”
Few hours later,
Emily’s POV
It’s been hours, work has been going on smoothly and now it is time for us to get our lunch.
I turned to my right side and saw Trisha on her desk taking out a small food flask from her bag.
Oh, she came with her lunch.
“Are you not going to the cafeteria for lunch?” Dan asked me as he stood up from his table.
“Yeah, I will go…I am pretty hungry.” I laughed lowly as I pulled my seat back.
“You guys are going already?” Trisha asked as she took a spoonful of her rice into her mouth.
“Trisha, you are half Asian right?” I asked her, her rice isn’t looking the way an American prepares rice.
“Yeah, half Korean and half Australian.” She replied
“Cool….”
“I could have joined you guys at the cafeteria but my grandma came over this morning and prepared my lunch.” She explained.
“No, it is fine. You can join us on another day.” I replied.
Dan and I stepped out of our tables, making our way to the glass slide door.
“I can’t wait to eat.” Dan muttered beside me.
“What do you mean?” I replied, trying not to laugh at his statement but I could not help it.
“My sister refused to prepare breakfast this morning, she made me eat cereals this morning and I ate the same cereal last night.” He groaned and I burst into laughter again.
“Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. Is she your little sister?” I asked
“Yeah.” He replied
“But why would she do that?”
“She knows I am eating good and free food here, so that makes her lazy to cook.” He replied with a heavy sigh.
“Oh, okay I understand. I would do same too” I laughed lowly as we made our way to the company’s cafeteria.
I stood by the entrance and smiled in awe, the company’s cafeteria buzzed with life, it’s sleek and modern design welcoming employees with open arms. As the sunlight poured through floor-to-ceiling windows, it illuminated the space, giving it an airy and energizing ambiance.
The seating area boasted a mix of comfort and style, with plush chairs and sleek tables arranged to encourage collaboration and conversation. Vibrant pops of color scattered throughout, from the vibrant blue accent wall to the cheerful yellow cushions, creating an inviting and dynamic atmosphere.
The walls were adorned with contemporary art pieces, adding a touch of sophistication to the space. The artwork seamlessly blended with the clean lines and minimalist decor, reflecting the company's commitment to both creativity and efficiency.
The scent of freshly brewed coffee drifted through the air, drawing employees towards the central coffee bar. With its gleaming modern espresso machines and an assortment of gourmet blends, the barista stood ready to craft personalized concoctions that would fuel the day ahead.
Adjacent to the coffee bar, a sleek and well-organized food station displayed an enticing array of culinary delights. From colorful salad bars lined with fresh produce to chef-inspired hot entrees, the cafeteria offered a diverse menu to cater to various tastes and dietary needs.
The heart of the cafeteria was the open kitchen, where talented chefs prepared tantalizing dishes in full view of the hungry and appreciative onlookers.
The aroma of sizzling spices and savoring herbs wafted from the kitchen, teasing the senses and igniting culinary desires.
Intuitive digital screens lined the walls, displaying real-time nutritional information and ingredient details to help employees make informed choices about their meal options. With a focus on health and well-being, the company had gone to great lengths to ensure that their cafeteria catered to various dietary preferences, offering an abundance of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Large communal tables at the center of the space encouraged interaction among colleagues, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. Shared laughter and animated conversations reverberated around the room, as employees enjoyed their meals together, building connections beyond the confines of their work desks.
Giant windows overlooked a lush outdoor terrace, providing employees with a serene view of nature. The terrace, adorned with comfortable seating and vibrant greenery, offered a tranquil escape where employees could gather for a breath of fresh air or take a moment to recharge amidst a busy workday.
With its modern touches, delectable cuisine, and inviting ambiance, the company's cafeteria became more than just a place to eat - it became a vibrant hub of creativity, collaboration, and nourishment for both the body and the mind.
“Wow, all these…” I gasped.
“He can be rude but he knows how to spend money and take care of his employees.” Dan replied beside me and gestured me to walk in further with him.
I was about to take a step forward until my phone buzzed in my pocket, I brought out my phone and saw a phone call from a number I do not recognize.
“Please hold on…” I whispered to Dan as I swiped the screen, answering the call and placed the phone on my left ear.
“Yes? Hello? Who is this please??”
Logan’s POV
My eyes grew wide at her reply, “What the f*ck?? Has she forgotten so soon??”
I gasped and one of my employees with me carved her brows at me, “Who is this?” Emily asked.
I tried my best to hold down my anger but it wasn’t helping.
“Emily?” that was my simple reply and I heard her gasp.
“Oh my goodness, its afternoon! f*ck” she replied,
Emily POV
Why on earth would I forget my punishment?
“Are you okay?” Dan asked me worriedly.
“I am so sorry Dan; I will come join you soon. I forget there is something I have to do.” I said as I scurried away to the chefs.
“Great, I will just eat my lunch alone for now.” He said behind me.
I ran as fast as I could to one of them, “Uhm excuse me, Mr. Logan asked me to get his lunch and I have no idea of how he loves it, you know don’t you?” I asked hastily.
“Yeah sure, please hold on.” The lady replied and in less than 5 minutes, she packed his food up in a lunch box and handed a cup of coffee to me.
“He loves his coffee black ma’am.” She said.
I took it from her hands with a side smile and ran as fast as I could out of the cafeteria.
I can imagine him giving me another book to make an apology…oh shit! It is never gonna happen.
Logan’s POV
It’s been minutes still I heard nothing from Emily; I ended the phone call after hearing Dan’s voice at the background.
Emily should prepare to face a double punishment.
A door knock was heard on the door and without hearing my reply, the door flung open revealing Emily standing by the door with a lunch box in her hand.
“You're 20 minutes late!”
“I am so sorry!!” she replied as he ran to my table and drops down the coffee first.
How does she know I like it black?
“Why is it black?”
“Don’t you love it black sir?” she replied
“Well I don’t. Get me another coffee, with enough cream and sugar.” I replied and her eyes popped open at me.
“Sorry?”
