Amira’s POV

It was 7:55 in the morning and I was still in bed sleeping when my elder sister came into my room to wake me up, lily stood at the door watching I wonder what she’s looking at, then walked closer to my bed and drag the duvet out of the bed

“Amy get up and prepare for work, its late already” lily said pulling my leg

“lily leave me alone” I said still feeling sleepy I sat up and faced her

“what is your problem, why do you allow yourself being used in disturbing my beauty sleep” I asked her

“get up and get ready for work or you’ll lose this job sis” lily said

“better I don’t like the job anyways” i said covering myself with my blanket which lily quickly drag away from me

“Amy get up and get ready don’t let mum come get you here” lily said and left the room finally leaving alone, I grumbling hit my pillow on the bed and got up from the bed moving into the bathroom

“wait till I make so much money and I leave this house to my own house let me see who will be waking me up so early” I thought to myself as I took a bath

I am the second daughter but third child of my parents MR. and Mrs. Robert Dogero, my dad works as an Engineer while my mom works as a health consultant, we lived comfortably and my parents provided well for us, I, my elder sister lily and brother George are graduates except Richard our last born who is still in school, lily is a banker while George is a doctor but didn’t live with us at home, I graduated with a degree in marketing but currently working as a waiter at a restaurant and didn’t really love the job

Finally, I wore my baggy jeans with a blue t-shirt and snickers am done getting ready I looked at the mirror smiled “ready to face another day” and ran down the stairs to join the family for breakfast getting to the dinner table I pulled out a seat and looked around for lily

“where is lily” I asked before sitting down

“she’s gone to work” Richard replied then chewed his slice of bread

“what she didn’t wait for me, oh no” I complained why wouldn’t she wait for me

“and dad?” I asked again

“gone as well” Richard replied

“oh God “I lamented, what am I going to do now

“what is it why are you complaining “Richard asked

“who will give me a ride to work, how will I get to work?” I cried I can’t believe they both left without me

“simple” I looked at him hoping to get something reasonable

“just trek to work”

“what?” I asked angrily, what is this fool trying to say now

“I said trek to work, or get a better job that pays you well and buy your own car” I was so angry at what he said I felt like punching his face inside

“or you can get a very very rich boyfriend and call him every morning to take you to work or better still ask him to buy you a car, but this won’t happen not with your baggy jeans and big T-shirt, you really have a bad sense of fashion, no guy will ever wanna date you sis”.

“Arghhhhh, that’s it, if not for mom who was present I would have squeezed him with my hands, I left the dinner table in anger to go get my bag. I guess he is satisfied by what he said but not to worry I will have my turn soon and I left the house in anger

Getting to work I wasn’t in my best mood, I just gave a sad expression throughout and ignored all of my colleagues at work maybe today is not one of those perfect days.

I was so lost in thought when Alex came to call me I didn’t even notice he was there, Alex was one of my colleagues we don’t really talk much, he tapped me at the shoulder to get my attention.

“Amira are you ok, you have been out of this planet since you came to work, what’s wrong girl?”, I just rolled my eyes giving him a stay out of my business look dude.

“well I came to tell you that you are to attend to table 3 right away”, really that’s what he came to tell me “whatever dude” I said sluggishly and left to attend to the customer at table 3. “Hello ma can I take your orders please”, the woman who was dressed like a masquerade coming out of the bakery looked up at me to see who was talking to her, I skipped a breath when I saw her face “WHAT IS THIS!!!!!!!!!” I screamed in my head, what exactly is she putting on her face? the perfume that emitted from her body almost made me choke. The woman yelled out

“what are you still looking at, go and get me what I ordered for, “yes ma”, I answered without even knowing what she ordered for, few minutes later I came back with a tray of cookie dough cheesecake and a glass of yoghurt, I dropped the tray on the table and was about to leave when the woman yelled at me

“ excuse me young lady what exactly did you get for me”, I turned back to answer her“cookie dough cheesecake and a glass of yoghurt”, “this is not what I asked for you moron, I said you should get Harry potter’s butterbeer pie and a glass of strawberry juice”, did she just called me a moron, oh she is so going to get it hot from me, who does she think she is “ hey lady masquerade, how dare you call me a moron, you are the moron here, who combines Harry potter’s butterbeer pie with a glass of strawberry juice ehh?, this shows that you are a big bonehead”.

The woman was very annoyed with the insults I gave to her but I was just getting started, I haven’t even gotten to her face when this drew the attention of the manager who immediately called me to his office oh oh things are messed up cos of her shit…

So I left to answer the manager. At the manager’s office; Mr. Ben was seriously angry with me for insulting his customer, he should call her and ask her what she did first before yelling at me “Amira how could you utter such words to our esteemed customer you are such a pinhead ”me? What did I do wrong, I tried to explain myself but he didn’t even want to listen to what I have to say “Sir I………, “will you shut up, Amira you are fired!!!!!” what? He didn’t even give me a chance and fired me well I quit I don’t even want to work here anymore, I left the manager’s office banging the door behind me.

As I walked to the exit door I gave the woman a killer look, and made funny faces at the woman.

I couldn’t go home, not after losing my job, I just wasn’t ready to face the questions that mom was going to ask for coming home early not to talk of my brother Richard who will make fun of me for losing a job I just got few weeks ago.

Walking along the road a limousine passed me splashing water on me, can my day get any worse “what the……….” I was shocked looking at my clothes soaked in mud water “are you blind?” I screamed at the young man who came down from the limousine, looking at his uniform I guessed he’s the driver, “what is wrong with you” I asked the driver who tried apologizing severally “ma am so sorry, am really sorry, I didn’t see you, I wasn’t paying attention to the road” the driver said apologizing “how would you see me with your four eyes you blind bat, you weren’t paying attention to the road so how is that my business” I kept shouting at the driver pouring all my frustration on him when a young man came out of the car, I lost my breath for a minute there staring at this handsome man “oh my God, do people like this really exist, he’s so handsome” I squealed in my thought “what is going on ” he asked “he’s so dreamy and yet he’s voice…………”

“miss?” the young man said pulling me out of my thoughts, is he blind can’t he see my clothes “what is going on? Your driver splashing mud water on me that’s what’s going on here, I don’t know what is wrong with you rich people just because you drive expensive cars and dress like you’re going for a parade makes you want to step or should I say drive all over people” I was so angry I didn’t care how handsome he is, the young man turned to his driver and asked “what is she ranting about” he looked back at me he had this cold aura emitting from him I knew no ordinary man would have that but I didn’t care I just felt like strangling this man “Mr. man did you just say am ranting, your stupid driver here used your container to splash mud water on me and you say am ranting?” I said looking angrily at the young man “look here young lady you don’t shout on people like a maniac because you have a loud voice, speak softly maybe then I might understand what you’re blabbing about” is he for real, is he that daft I asked myself “look at my clothes you fool do you think I can go anywhere looking like this, I mean can’t you see the damage he caused, what do I do now” I shouted angrily, this guy is beginning to piss me off. “now I get you” he said “ I know your type” he quickly reached into the back seat and brought out a bundle of money “here, for all your trouble” he said waving the bundle of money in front of me what a show off, “I don’t need your dirty money you idiotic nincompoop” I retorted back “ how dare you insult me young lady, do you know who I am?” he asked sternly “and who are you, the governors son or the son of the general manager of insane people’s association?” I said tilting my head, he looked defeated and didn’t know what to make of me so he concluded that I was mad “matt let’s go I think she’s mad” he said and quickly got into the limo, matt followed after him“hey where are you going better come back and fix my clothes you hedgehog” I screamed after them “such idiots how could he……arghhhhhhh look at me” I sighed now am covered in mud.

I got home later in the day and walked into the house Richard and mom saw me looking so dirty, Richard couldn’t help himself but laughed his head of “what happened to you Amy” he asked laughing hard “leave me alone nose poker?” I replied “Amira go take a bath before dinner is ready" mom said “yes mom” I answered mom and kept looking at my brother who continued laughing as I went upstairs, I didn’t bother coming downstairs for dinner just to avoid my family, I don’t play with my stomach so I had dinner late in the night.
