Silence fell through in the doctor's office. Neither of them could believe what the result was showing. Mr Georgie strongly believed that the child did not belong to him since he was impotent. He hated what was about to happen because he had made up his mind that Shannon would play the role so he would have peace of mind.
Shannon glanced at the doctor and then back at Mr Georgie. “If I am pregnant, then he must be the father of the child, right?” her brows furrowed. She was sure that she didn't leave Tony's house pregnant or the doctors who examined her when she almost died would have told her.
Being pregnant was a good thing on its own, but knowing the father of the child is another big deal.
It's already been a week since she had a one-night stand with Georgie, so she solely believed that the child belongs to him. “You can run a DNA test on the pregnancy. It would be better to know if the child belongs to him or not.” Shannon referred to the doctor, rubbing her fingers.
She was already trembling because becoming a single mother wasn't in her plans. If Mr. Goergie ends up not being the father of the child, then it would surely belong to Tony, which will make things hard for her. She wouldn't want to return to Tony again, but leaving her child to live in this cruel world alone after her demise would be the most brutal thing to do.
The doctor turned to Mr Georgie, “If you wish that I conduct the test, then I can go ahead with it.”
Mr Georgie spared Shannon a glance, “Why is it so difficult for the lady to tell the father of the child?” his brows knitted. He didn't expect the news—he planned to make plans with the doctor on how another man's semen would be used for the insemination.
“I would point fingers at you, but you might not believe me….” Shannon swallowed softly, holding her cloth with the tip of her finger. “So, it would be better to conduct a test…”
“It can never be my child—” Georgie slammed back at her and scowled. “Even the doctor knows what I'm talking about, so let's just end everything here…”
Shannon gasped, shaking her head. “You can't end it this way. I mean it when I say that I would point fingers at you because you are the only man I've slept with in the past three months…..and it's just a week pregnant.” her voice was barely a whisper.
“Incredible!” the doctor muttered and shook his head.
“Mr Georgie, let the doctor conduct the test. You can end it all if the pregnancy turns out not yours….” She continued, her heart banging harder. She prayed inwardly for her status as a divorcee not to be revealed or it would cause her issues. Even though she had sex with Tony a week before meeting with Georgie, she was still scared that things would turn around, and she would be losing at that point.
The doctor turned to Mr Georgie, who gave a single nod to him, and then he left the ward.
“Follow the doctor, but I'll make sure you pay for wasting my time if the child does not belong to me.” Mr Goergie said to Shannon, who nodded and exited the room.
He got seated again, staring at the bare wall. “I am impotent, so I can't start be daydreaming of the child becoming mine suddenly….” he consoled himself and wiped his lips.

Minutes later, Shannon walked back to the office with the doctor. It was an hour already, and since then, her heart rate hasn't returned to normal. She clutched her palms to her chest as she strode into the room—her lips quivering.
The doctor walked before Mr Goergie and bowed to him, “This is the result, and as she said, the child is yours…”
She shut her eyes, slowly releasing her palms from her chest. She had counted herself as dead if the child turned out not to belong to Georgie, not because of what he would do to her, but the fate of the child after her demise.
When she opened her eyes, she met Georgie staring at her.
“I can't believe it. You ran the test and told me that I'm impotent…..” Mr Georgie screamed at the doctor. He clenched his teeth—maybe the doctor was playing with his emotions. “If I was impotent, how then did I end up impregnating a woman? Isn't that ridiculous?”
The doctor, short of words, bowed to him. “I am sorry if this will bother you, but that day was the only day I found out such a thing. You've been coming for checkups, and nothing like that ever showed up until that day. Why do I have the feeling that you already impregnated ....”
“Stop saying garbage!” Mr Georgie snapped at the doctor. What sort of physician does not give accurate results? “The past week, I was impotent….now I am the father of the child. Is it that funny? Who would believe such a thing?”
“I apologize for the inconvenience this must have caused you, but you should try to understand that the body system changes….and it might be a temporary impotence…..” the doctor explained.
Mr Goergie was still baffled to his toe. He was unsure what to tell the doctor, so he took his belongings on the table and twitched out of the office.
Shannon glanced at the doctor, wanting to say something to him but not sure what exactly to say, so she excused herself as well, hurrying to meet up with Goergie, who walked so fast and didn't even glance backwards.
When he reached his car, his PA opened the door, and then he paused.
“I am here already…” Shannon cut in the moment she noticed he was about to speak. “Why did you have to leave that way? Aren't you happy that you will be a father soon?” she was panting due to the faster steps she had taken to meet up with him.
He turned to face her, “just get in—”
She nodded and stepped into the car, and then he joined her.
“Are you even sure that you're impotent?” She broke the silence between them. “If you were truly impotent, you wouldn't have impregnated me, so, maybe, the result was wrong, or you got healed quickly.”
He exhaled a deep breath. “What if we never met again? What would have happened to the child?” He gave a sidelong look, causing her to recall the first day she stumbled on him at the mall and the way he glared at her like she was some piece of trash.
She forced a smile on. ‘I can't tell him about my health.’ she said to herself and gazed at him. “I would have trained up the child myself.”
Seconds turned to minutes. He didn't give a damn response to what she just said. It wasn't something new to her because he had ignored her even when they were still strangers.
They stayed still, not talking to each other, and barely glanced at the other until they entered a luxurious compound.
“Come with me—to my family house,” he said to her before alighting from the car.
Shannon was stunned at how beautiful the environment was. Her ex-husband had tried to make his house look this way, but he was still no match for Mr Georgie.
As ordered, she followed him into the building, waving hands at the housekeepers who bowed to them as they walked past them. There were more housekeepers than she expected because Tony never had that much.
They stepped into the sitting room where two elderly couples sat and were busy peeling the oranges before them. She grinned, glancing around and admiring the exquisite interior decor.
“Oh, my son—” the woman stood up and hurried to Mr Georgie, embracing him tightly while he responded.
Shannon rushed towards them. Unexpectedly, there was no single smile on Goergie’s face even as his mother's arms wrapped around him. “Hi, ma’am!” she drew her attention.
The elderly woman let go of her son. “Hello,” she waved back and faced his son. “Who is she?”
Mr Georgie sighed heavily. “My surrogate!”
“Surro what???” his father's voice came from the sofa. The elderly man stood up and approached them. “Did I hear you well, son? Surrogate? Is that why you divorced Tracy?” his voice thundered in the room.
Shannon gulped. She didn't see that coming. ‘So, he's a divorcee like me? What a great match….but that doesn't mean I would reveal myself to him, or he might end it all.’ she thought to herself.
“Tracy visited and is even around. She came to see you—for peace to reign. Why would you pick up some trash as a surrogate when you have Tracy? You never gave us your reason for divorcing her….” his father shrieked at him.
Georgie pouted his lips. He knew the type of family he had and didn't expect less, but one thing was that they had no right to his decision.
“Look, Tracy is coming downstairs. Take this lady out of here…..” his mother yelled, but Georgie obstructed the ladies that came forward. “What has come over you, son?”
He frowned. “I never said that I needed your permission. I am here to introduce her to you all….”
“And we don't approve of it…..”
“Georgie!!” Tracy called out from the stairs and rushed forward. She approached and tried to touch him, but he resisted. “Uhmm, I came to check on you…”
“We already divorced—” he snapped at his ex-wife.
Tracy nodded, giggling. “I know, checking up on you isn't a crime. Besides, your family still welcomes me.”
He sniffed, “welcome you? It will all end today, so don't ever show up again?”
“Why?” Tracy glanced to the side and met Shannon's gaze. Her eyes widened as she pointed fingers at her. “Isn't she Tony's wife? What is she doing with you?”
The whole person standing behind stared at Shannon, whose feet glued to the floor.
Mr Goergie turned to Shannon. “Tony's wife?”
Shannon shook her head.
“C’mon, I know what I'm talking about…” Tracy bit her lower lip. “She is Tony's wife!!” she screeched, her fist bawling.
