Diane's POV
“What! Do you mean this man here is my mate?”
“Yes! If you doubt me you can touch him and see for yourself.” Raven replied.
“But what if this man is just pretending to be dead or unconscious? What if he saw us when we shifted and now wants to capture us, just like you said they would if they found out about us? Maybe he’s just waiting for me to come closer so he can attack me?” I asked, unsure about touching the man.
“Trust me, Raven, nothing is going to happen,” said Raven.
“Okay.”
I took a deep breath, but instantly regretted it when the smell of blood hit my nose again. With slow and steady hands, I stretched my hand to touch him. I immediately removed my hand as if he had some kind of plague when I felt the sparks, and a sweet sensation spread through my body.
“You're, right Raven. He's out mate,” I exclaimed.
I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement, but it didn't last as fear and anxiety took over immediately.
What if he rejects me like my pack did? I won't be able to live with it. My heart has already suffered enough pain. I can't add more. I closed my eyes as I willed myself to leave.
“What are you doing, Diane?” Raven asked. “You can't leave him here, what if he bleeds to death? You have to help him, he's our mate for goddess sake.”
“What if he rejects me and starts treating me the way I was treated in our pack back then? You and I both know that I won't be able to survive that. So I can't risk him finding out about me, and I think the best thing to do is to run as far away as possible from here.” I muttered.
“Get your senses together, Diane, and stop acting dumb. He's our mate, if he dies, we die too.” She yelled in my head, causing me to flinch.
Oh shit! My eyes widen in shock as the reality of her words hits me. Now I was drowning in fear and worry. I needed to think of something fast, and I had to act fast.
The longer I stay in this forest, the higher the chances of me being killed or attacked by whosoever did this to my mate. Also, there is the possibility of my mate bleeding to death. So I decided to take the risk of taking him back to the wooden cabin.
Carrying my mate back to the cabin turned out to be the hardest job I have ever done in my life. Plus, the tingling sensation from the mate bond didn't make it any easier. After an hour of carrying him on my back and navigating through the forest, I finally arrived at the entrance of my cabin.
I cleared some of the mess I made and laid him down while I quickly searched for a first aid kit. After successfully finding the first aid kit, I started cleaning his wound with warm water and a towel. Cleaning the blood off his body proved to be a lot more difficult. Every time our skin would touch, my hormones would go wild. If only there was a way to turn off the mate bond, I would have done it an hour ago.
When I saw the stab wound on his chest, my heart clenched. It looked like he was stabbed with a silver knife laced with wolfsbane. For him to still be alive and breathing means he's a high-ranked wolf, probably an Alpha or a Beta. If he was an Omega, he'd probably be dead before we got here.
Once I was done cleaning his wound, I bandaged it so it could heal faster. I know in a few hours from now the wolfsbane will become less effective in his system, and his wolf would be able to heal him faster. After I had cleaned his whole body completely, I carried him off the floor and lay him on the bed; then I sat next to him, staring at his sleeping face.
I was about to stand up from the bed when my mate engulfed me in a hug from behind.
“Mate!” He groaned
Sparks erupted throughout my body. It suddenly clouded my mind with lust.
“What's your name?” He asked. His voice was hoarse, yet it sounded so sexy.
I swallowed hard, trying my best to find my voice. “Diane.” I finally whispered when I found my voice.
“Diane.” He said like he was testing my name out.
I didn't know why, but the way he said my name sounded as sexy as hell. I wanted to ask his name, but I was too scared to even talk.
“My name is Jayden, the Alpha king.” He said as if he had just read my mind.
My eyes widen with shock after I rephrase what he just said in my head. Holy shit! The Alpha King?
“I told you, Raven. He's going to reject us.”
“Calm down, Diane, and stop overreacting,” Raven replied calmly.
The Alpha King is the most vicious and feared werewolf Alpha in the supernatural world, not because he was an Alpha King, but because of his ruthlessness and brutality.
“Raven, are you crazy? How can such a powerful Alpha accept such a weakling like me as his mate?” I asked Raven, but she decided to ignore me.
“Tell me, Diane. How did I end up here?” He asked, burying his face in my neck.
His hot breath brought chills all over my body. Both the chills and the sparks were messing with me.
“I found you unconscious in the forest. You... you were bleeding, so I brought you to my cabin and then cleaned your wounds so that they could heal faster and properly.” I stammered.
He suddenly growled, causing me to flinch. I closed my eyes as I waited for him to either reject me or snap my neck.
“What is a young girl like you doing in the forest?” He asked.
“I went to get some wood in the forest, but got lost when it started raining heavily,” I replied, partially lying.
I felt him raise his hand from my neck and he turned me around. I stared at the ground as I waited for him to speak.
He cupped my face and lifted my head so that I was looking at him. I tried my best to divert my eyes from anywhere else but him.
His face slowly inched close to my face until I could feel his hot breath on my lips. Before I knew it, he slammed his lips into mine, his kiss hard and consuming. I could barely remember what was happening.
The tingling sensation of the mate bond and too much pleasure clouded my head. Suddenly, my body was begging for his touch.
