A concubine

Chapter 4

Alan's pov

One of the maids took out a wipe and ran it across a part of her face. My gaze of anticipation fell upon a pale, milky white skin that looked Soo pure like that of an angel.

I released a breath that I didn't know I was holding, a smile crept it's way to my face but it was soon replaced by a frown when the second half of teh face was wiped, revealing a flaky burnt skin.

I felt gross and disappointed as my gaze wandered across the two parts of her face. With feeling of anger and betrayal, I stormed out of my room and went to my study.

Cayden rushed after me, trying to calm me down and at the same time, curious to know what angered me.

I began to pace back and forth in my study while Cayden patiently stood at the corner, observing my mood.

If there was something I hated most as an adult, it is being lied to or being deceived. Now, my chosen mate didn't only lie to me but also deceived me.

After what seemed like an eternity , I finally calmed down and explained what Toria told me and the scar.

“ This isn’t good,what will you do ?.”

“I can't reject her because I have to wait till the mating mark fades away which will take up to approximately a year and she was also chosen by my father so I can't go against him” I let out angrily banging my fists on the table.

The office echoed and the only sound to be heard was my erratic breathing

I went into silent thought,I might just make this unbearable for her,maybe she might leave herself . Just as my thoughts wandered off, an idea clicked in my head and for the first time since I entered the study, a genuine smile escaped my mind.

“ I have an idea ,” I smirked

Cayden gave me a confused look and carefully asked me, “ what do you want to do to her? Don't you think you should call a meeting and inform the elders.”

I hissed and immediately went against the idea, “ there is nothing the elders can do to her anyways, I can't even reject her till the mate mark fades off,” he nodded in recollection.

“ But I know what to do. Since I can't Inflict a physical pain on her, What about emotional pain,” I put forth.

“ Emotional pain? How?” Cayden repeated.

“ Toria will be here in the evening so I will be discussing about our marriage to her,”

“ Your marriage?” He repeated again for the second time. I only smoke in response while his thoughts wandered off and as soon as realization hit me, he gave me a look of shock.

“ You will be taking in a royal concubine?”

Knowing that he has finally get the concept, I stood up and went back to the room to take my bath and prepare for my Alpha duties.

Ariana was still asleep when I returned to the room, making me wonder whether I was very rough with her last night. I felt the urge to check her temperature whether she was doing fine but I decided against the idea and went into the bathroom to do my business.

I wore my regaly outfit and went to my office to start the work and almost immediately, Cayden emerged to deliver some news to me.

“ Good day Alpha, you have a meeting with the chiefs during half moon although I am just informing you ahead,” he delivered and I answered him politely.

“ Also, Luna’s best friend is here to see you,” he added and I immediately cut him off.

“ She has a name, call her by it,” I warned as the title he gave her sounded creepy and was making her seem like a betrayal.

“ Okay Alpha,” he bowed and was about to leave the room when I stopped him.

“ Make her wait till evening, I have lots of works to attend to. Also, send me a cup of coffee.” I instructed and he excuse himself afterwards.

The rest of the day was fruitful and finally, it was time for me to take a break. I walked to the resting area to meet Toria who has been waiting since. She was already dozing off by the time I got to the resting area, making me feel bad for making her wait for so long.

“ Please come with me.”

She stood up with a smile and followed me to the dinning. The dinning room was empty and I didn't hesitate to call the head of the maid to ask her about Ariana.

“ Has she eaten today?” I whispered to her ear because I didn't want Toria to hear our discussion.

She nodded her head and answered, “ she said she was weak so we served her in the room,”

I felt better and relieved, knowing that she didn't starve herself all day then I told the maid to bring our food to us.

Different appetizing dishes were displayed Infront of us and we both dug in without further ado. We both ate silently till we were done.

After eating, I led her to my office to discuss the main thing I called her for.

“ Can I go straight to the point?” I asked as soon as we both settled down on our seat and she gave me a go ahead.

“ I am very pleased at the level of dedication to the pack by informing us of the possible danger. I have thought a lot about how to encourage you but only one thing I have coming to my head,” I explained.

“ So after lots of deliberation, I want to ask you a sensitive question and I will like your honest answer,” I paused, thinking of the best way to put my next statement out.

“ Will you be my royal concubine?” I blurted out.

I was expecting an outrageous response or display of anger from her but to my surprise, she gave me a big smile and answered, “ Yes, I will.”

I felt very contempted in my heart, knowing fully well that everything is now going my way. Ariana should watch out for my revenge!
