Chapter 4: Second Chance

I never thought I'd find myself in this situation. Just a few days ago, my heart was shattered into a thousand pieces, and I fled from the city that held so many painful memories. The ache in my chest was overwhelming, and I sought solace in the serenity of nature, hoping it would heal my wounded soul.

As I wandered through the forest, my footsteps muffled by the carpet of fallen leaves, I couldn't help but feel the weight of my past. The ghosts of lost love and shattered dreams haunted me, suffocating my spirit. But little did I know that fate had something unexpected in store for me, something that would change the course of my life forever.

In the midst of my melancholy, I stumbled upon a clearing bathed in the ethereal glow of the moon. And there, standing tall and majestic, was a man who exuded an aura of power and strength. His presence was magnetic, drawing me closer, as if he held the answers to all my questions.

Our eyes met, and I could see a flicker of recognition in his gaze. It was as if we shared a hidden connection, a bond that surpassed time and space. My heart skipped a beat, and I knew deep down that he was no ordinary man.

"Layla," he whispered, his voice like a caress on the wind. "I've been waiting for you."

His words sent shivers down my spine, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from him. How could this enigmatic stranger know my name? And why did his presence feel so familiar?

"Who are you and how did you know my name?" I asked him trembling in fear.

Being gentle as I think he will be, he replied me in such a way I could ever imagined.

"My name is William and I'm the Lycan King, the Alpha, and the ruler of a realm, called Neverwinter. I know what you've been through and I'm here to help".

As he approached me, I noticed the innocence in his eyes. It was a mirror reflection of my own emotions, as if he too carried the weight of past heartbreaks.

"So you're my mate then" I whispered, the words barely escaping my lips."

His expression softened, and a bittersweet smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

"Yes, Layla. I am your mate, you can say that. But don't you remember me Layla, weeks back huh?"

Then it stroke me, it is him the man I had a one night stand before I eventually met John. As soon as I realized and remember who he was I tried to maintain composure while I replied him.

"Yesssss! I remember and I remembered you didn't tell me you're an alpha or a Lycan King. The memory of that night have haunted me ever since, and I've searched far and wide to find you again." Emotions surged within me, coupled with Confusion. Thousands of questions flooded my mind. Could I trust him? Could I let go of my past and embrace this new possibility? But as I looked into his eyes, I saw the sincerity and vulnerability hidden within he's eyes.
