Be My Luna

JANE

"Jack?" I called out, my voice tinged with urgency as I searched frantically around his room. His lovely scent still lingered in the air, indicating he had just left.

I quickly activated my enhanced sight but still couldn't find him. Frustrated, I walked out of his room, closing the door behind me as I continued my search around the house. Stories of clans clashing and annihilating each other in a single night flooded my mind, making me panic. Or perhaps my father had arrested him? The mere thought made my heartbeat accelerate.

"Jack?" I called out, my heartbeat racing faster than ever. I noticed that his guards were surprisingly scarce, and my mind couldn't help but conjure the worst scenarios. Anxiety gnawed at me as I quickened my pace, on the verge of transforming.

Just then, I caught a whiff of his scent. It was faint but unmistakable. Like a lightning bolt, I sprinted toward the direction of the scent, my senses heightened. The scent grew stronger, guiding me through the winding halls of the house. My heart pounded in my chest, each beat echoing my desperation.

As I rounded a corner, relief washed over me. There he was, seated calmly with his friend Adrian, engaged in a quiet conversation. The sight of him safe and unharmed made my knees weak, and I took a moment to catch my breath before approaching them.

"Jack, Adrian," I said as I approached them.

"Jane," Jack replied, his voice tense. He sat there, but it was clear he had been in a heated conversation. The stress was written all over his face. When I reached him, I gently pulled him into a hug, hoping to offer some comfort.

"I searched everywhere for you, Jack," I muttered, relief mixing with frustration. He pulled back slightly, meeting my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Jane."I glanced around the room, my anxiety returning. "And where are your guards? Where are all the royal guards? I couldn't find any of them. What's going on?" My voice trembled, worry lacing every word. From the look of things, my suspicions seemed more likely to be true.

"I'll leave you two," Adrian said as he stood up to leave. It was only then that I realized he was still in the room. Jack nodded at him as Adrian strode out, then turned back to me.

"We've noticed an increase in the number of spies," Jack explained gently. "There’s likely to be an attack. We've been on high alert, watching for any sign of aggression from other clans and working to strengthen our defenses."

I glanced at the table he had been so focused on and saw a map of the Silver Moon Pack along with the other clans spread out across it.

"Jane, there is something serious I want to speak to you about." He added.

My thoughts drifted to my father and his guards. I knew he wouldn't agree to listen to me. Relying on him for assistance with his guards would be a suicide mission.

"Jack, I'll do anything you need, but if it involves going to my father, you know there's no point. He won't help," I said, staring at him while nervously fiddling with my fingers, feeling very apologetic.

Even though we were part of his clan, my father would want Jack and his family to handle this district's matters.

Jack sighed and gently touched my arm. "Oh, sweetheart, I know that already. You’re overthinking," he muttered. "I haven't even asked you to do anything yet," he added calmly, looking at me with a hint of confusion.

"If you're not talking about that, then what else are you talking about?" I asked, trying to find anything important, but nothing came up in my mind.

"I'm forgetting something, aren't I?" I raised my brows questioningly.

I obviously could not remember anything else.

"No Jane, not really. It's been a plan I am yet to disclose to anyone, not even you." He cups my face gently, and I couldn't help but smile.

"What's the plan?" I stared at him waiting for whatever he had to say. My mind was unsettled and I couldn't wait to hear whatever it is, that he has on his mind.

"Jane, I don't know if I can make it out of this alive, and I do not want to leave this clan without an heir. I want you to be my queen, I want you to be the woman I wake up to every day. And if I survive, I want to come home to meet you every single day, Jane." He said.

The smile that spread across my lips, was wide enough to cover the skies of this clan.

"So Jane would you give me the honor of being your Alpha and accept the honor of being my Luna." I stared at him wide eyed, shock evident on my facial expressions.

"Are you serious or you are playing a prank on me?" I have always known Jack to be quite notorious for playing pranks with even the most serious of things.

But I could see seriousness written all over him and I coudn't help the sense of happiness that overwhelmed me.

"Yes!" I squealed, almost jumping up from his laps in the process.

"This is a dream come true."

"I know. But Jane, your father?" At the mention of my father, the joy I felt immediately vanished.

He has long been against my happiness, my father hates me with every thing in him. The villagers in my clan say it is because I bear a lot of resemblance to my late mother. He loved her beyond words, but when she mysteriously died, a part of him left. Even at home, my mother is a forbidden topic, so also I am a forbidden child. Thinking about sharing this news with my Father, I can only hear him say one thing; NO! A firm one.

"My Luna." Jack could see how terrible my mood has dampened.

"How about I see him myself? Or I ask my dad to do the honours? Things would be a whole lot easier, wouldn't it?" He asked, stroking my hair gently.

"You simply do not know my father, he is against every thing that makes me happy, he wants to bend me to his will at everytime"

"Ever since I lost my mother, I've been a slave in my own kingdom. He might agree to the mating ceremony though at least that gives his daughters the room to become the next Alpha of my clan." I let out a sad smile, my eyes burned with unshed tears.

"On the bright side, you get to be my queen. Always view things positively at every point in time, okay?" Jack Said, surprisingly ecstatic about the whole thing.

"It seemed like everything that I was  saying to him about my father had totally no influence on him. Or maybe he considered it to be a joke" I thought inwardly.

"That's only if my father says yes to you." I replied, sadness laced in my tone.

"Where's the Jane I know?" He asked.

"She's by your side" I said inwardly.

If only my mother was still alive, things wouldn't be like this. I needed clarity, a moment to gather my thoughts and prepare for whatever lay ahead. Deep down, I knew my father would never approve of us.
