Stella Foster and my boyfriend teamed up to push me into the abyss, making me the unspoken horror story on campus.
After being reborn, I became their behind-the-scenes boss, and those who bullied me had to pay the price!
...
Originally, I was studying at a top domestic university, ranking first in my major, and was chosen by my mentor to assist with his project during my undergraduate years. I should have had a fantastic life, but then Stella Foster came into the picture, and everything changed.
I considered her my best friend, but she stole my boyfriend and spread rumors about me being promiscuous, turning me from a well-liked, obedient girl into a severely depressed loner, ending my life in never-ending nightmares.
However, I didn't die completely. Six months ago, I was reborn as Charlotte Baker, the heiress of the city's wealthiest family, who, according to outsiders, was a useless party girl sent abroad for a golden makeover. After spending half a year abroad, I gradually adapted to this new body.
Upon graduating, on my way back to my home country, I secretly swore that I would reclaim everything I had lost. The Baker Group was established by my father, and I was his only daughter.
Shortly after returning home, some "guests" arrived.
In the living room, the guest was Max Baker, my uncle's son. He rode on my father's coattails and had some influence in City A. Now, he eagerly wanted me, the supposed wastrel, to get married and secure my father's wealth.
"Charlotte won't be able to enter Uncle Dan’s company without a degree. How about you take a position at my company?" Max Baker said.
I sat down in front of them and looked at Max Baker, who was dressed in a flamboyant pink suit, casually crossing his legs. I couldn't help but sneer.
He had only managed to start a somewhat well-known media company by leveraging my father's business. What was there to be proud of?
Before my parents could say anything, I tossed a folder in front of them and said, with no hint of friendliness, "No need to go through the trouble, Max. With my qualifications, I could find a good job even without tying my father's company to it."
Max Baker nonchalantly opened the folder and, upon seeing my degree certificate, sneered, "You've done quite a convincing job!"
I dialed the principal's number directly, explained a few things, and handed the phone to my father.
My father took the call and had a polite conversation that gradually turned from awkward to nodding frequently. He couldn't resist looking at me with a loving smile on his face.
"The principal just said that your degree is genuine," he said, patting my shoulder excitedly, as if relieved of a heavy burden. "Half a year ago, you were at the bottom of the school in terms of grades, but you graduated as the top student. You've truly come out of nowhere!"
"Top student? How is that possible..." Max Baker stared at me for a long while, muttering resentfully under his breath.
I took the degree certificate back, deliberately adding, "By the way, the principal also thanked me for bringing up the issue of forged degree certificates. They intend to thoroughly investigate the matter."
Max Baker's expression remained unpleasant, and the place where he was sitting seemed as uncomfortable as if it were filled with needles. He struggled to maintain his composure and avoid falling over.
Others might not have noticed what was wrong with him, but I understood his panic. I had previously had his degree certificate investigated, and it was clear that the one he possessed had been fabricated. I took the degree certificate he had brought to mock me and, after a quick comparison, it was obvious that the two certificates had discrepancies in their seals.
"Max just said that having a degree is a sign of talent. If he can run a company effectively, so can Charlotte." My mother earnestly suggested.
