the forbidden truth

"The weight of his words settled over her, filling her with a sense of dread she couldn’t shake. She had stepped into a world filled with dangers she couldn’t comprehend, and now, there was no way back."

Luna stared at Alexander, her mind struggling to process what he had said. The air between them felt thick with unspoken truths, and her heart pounded against her chest as she tried to make sense of everything that had happened.

“The Rogues… they won’t stop,” she repeated softly, the words still sounding alien to her. “But why? What do they want with me?”

Alexander didn’t answer right away. Instead, he closed his eyes for a moment, as if gathering his thoughts. When he spoke again, his voice was low, laced with an unfamiliar tension.

“You’re not just an ordinary human, Luna,” he said, his gaze intense. “And I’m not just a man. I’m an Alpha… a leader of a pack that’s been around for centuries. And the Rogues… they’re part of something far darker.”

Luna’s breath caught, her mind spinning. Alpha? Pack? Rogues? These words were foreign, but somehow they made sense, like pieces of a puzzle she didn’t even know she was trying to solve.

She opened her mouth to speak, but the questions came too fast. “But… I don’t understand. If you’re an Alpha, why didn’t you tell me what I am? Why not tell me about all of this from the start?”

Alexander’s expression hardened, his eyes narrowing. “I didn’t tell you because it’s dangerous, Luna. There are things about you that even you don’t know yet. Things I didn’t want to risk explaining until I was certain you were ready.”

“Ready for what?” she asked, her voice shaking. “I don’t know anything about this world, Alexander. I don’t even know what I am. And you expect me to just… accept it?”

Alexander’s gaze softened, his hand reaching out to touch her arm gently, grounding her in the moment. “You’re not the only one struggling with the truth, Luna. But you need to understand something: your connection to this world is deeper than I ever imagined. And the Rogues, they’re just the beginning.”

Luna recoiled slightly, her pulse quickening. “What do you mean, the beginning?”

He took a deep breath, his jaw tight with the weight of the words he was about to say. “There are ancient forces at play here, things that have been manipulating events for centuries. The Rogues are just pawns in a much bigger game. And you, Luna, are at the center of it all.”

She shook her head, trying to grasp his words, but they felt too heavy, too much for her to understand all at once. “I’m… at the center of it? What does that mean?”

“The reason the Rogues want you so badly is because you have a power within you,” he said, his voice steady but with a hint of something darker beneath the surface. “A power that was hidden, dormant, until now. And now that they know you’re here, they won’t stop coming for you until they can control it.”

Luna’s mind reeled, and her stomach twisted in knots. A power within her? She had always thought she was just a regular girl—no special abilities, no hidden potential. But now, she wasn’t so sure.

“Why me?” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “Why would I have this power?”

Alexander’s eyes softened with a mix of pity and something else—something she couldn’t quite place. “It’s not about why, Luna. It’s about who you are. You’re part of a bloodline that was meant to shape the future of this world. You are the last of your kind, and the Rogues know it. They know that if they control you, they can control everything.”

Her breath caught in her throat. “A bloodline?” she repeated, her voice trembling. “What do you mean? What kind of bloodline?”

He hesitated, his gaze darkening as he looked away, conflicted. “I wish I could explain everything, but the truth is… there’s too much to say. And you’re not ready to hear it all just yet.”

Luna took a step back, her mind swirling with a thousand thoughts. She couldn’t make sense of it. None of this made sense. But one thing was clear everything she had known, everything she had believed about herself, was a lie.

“You’re telling me I have a power inside me, but you won’t tell me what it is? You won’t tell me what’s going to happen next?” she asked, her voice rising, frustration seeping into her words.

Alexander didn’t flinch, but there was a trace of regret in his eyes. “I’m trying to protect you, Luna. The power inside you is dangerous—not just for you, but for everyone around you. And the Rogues aren’t the only threat.”

She felt a wave of unease wash over her at his words. “What do you mean? Who else is out there?”

“The other packs,” he replied, his voice low. “There are more of us out there, Luna. But not all of them are as friendly as I am. Some of them want to control this power you possess for their own gain.”

Luna’s legs weakened beneath her as the weight of his words settled in. She had always thought that life was complicated, but this… this was a nightmare she couldn’t wake up from. A bloodline. Powers. Dangerous packs. The Rogues. And the worst part? She was caught in the middle of it all.

She sank onto the couch, her hands trembling as she tried to make sense of everything. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know who to trust.”

Alexander moved closer, his presence overwhelming but comforting in its own way. He knelt in front of her, his eyes searching hers. “You don’t have to face this alone, Luna. I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

She looked at him, searching for sincerity in his eyes. There was a depth to his gaze, an honesty she hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t just offering protection he was offering something else, something she wasn’t sure she could accept.

“And what if I can’t control this power?” she whispered, her voice breaking. “What if I can’t do what you’re asking me to do?”

“You don’t have to control it right away,” he said softly. “But you need to understand that you are connected to something far bigger than yourself. And as much as I wish I could protect you from it, the truth is… you’re going to have to face it sooner or later.”

A moment of silence passed between them, heavy with the weight of what he had just revealed. Luna closed her eyes, trying to gather herself, trying to make sense of the impossible.

“I didn’t ask for this,” she said, her voice small, barely above a whisper. “I didn’t ask for any of this.”

Alexander’s eyes softened, a flicker of understanding in them. “I know. But sometimes the world chooses us, Luna. And right now, the world has chosen you.”

Her heart thudded in her chest, fear and uncertainty swirling within her. She had been thrust into a world she didn’t understand, surrounded by dangers she couldn’t fathom. And now, there was no turning back.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “So what do we do now?”

Alexander stood, offering her his hand. “We fight. We prepare for what’s coming. And you learn how to wield the power within you.”

Luna hesitated for a moment, staring at his outstretched hand. She didn’t know if she was ready for this fight. But one thing was certain—she didn’t have a choice.

Taking his hand, she stood, her heart pounding in her chest. The path ahead was dark and uncertain, but for the first time, Luna realized that she wasn’t completely alone. Whether she liked it or not, she was a part of this world now. And she would have to face whatever came next, whether she was ready or not.

“Let’s get to work,” she said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. She was no longer just Luna. She was something else. Something more. And whatever that was, it was time to figure it out.
