Chapter 1: A Promise

"Ugh..." The pain beneath her made Keira open her eyes from unconsciousness.

The room was pitch black, not a single ray of light.

She could only hear the heavy breathing of a man and the pain he caused her.

She pushed against him with all her might, but it felt like punching cotton, completely futile.

She couldn't make a sound, only praying for it to stop.

The man's actions made her faint again.

When she woke up again, daylight had already broken outside.

Keira Hunter opened her eyes, looking at the unfamiliar room, and the vivid images of last night flashed in her mind.

She sat up abruptly, feeling a sharp pain below.

Getting off the bed, she saw the bloodstains on the sheets and clenched her fists.

It wasn't a dream...

The bathroom door opened.

A man walked out of the bathroom.

Seeing his face clearly, she fell back onto the bed in terror. How could it be him?

The man was only wrapped in a towel around his waist. He glanced at her and then lazily said, "Awake?"

Keira swallowed nervously and stood up with difficulty. "Mr-Mr. Parker."

The man casually wiped the water from his hair. "Whatever you have to say, say it later. Go clean yourself up first."

Keira lowered her eyes. "No need, I... I have something to do, I need to leave."

"Ms. Hunter, don't you think you owe me an explanation for what happened last night?"

Keira blushed. Does such a thing really need an explanation?

Should she report to him that she was drunk and didn't know what happened?

Keira exhaled and looked at Harrison Parker. "Mr. Parker, I am a person who values my purity. I don't have any diseases, and I don't think you suffered any loss last night. So, can we just pretend it never happened?"

Though she seemed confident, her last words were spoken timidly.

"I know you're clean. After all, I've experienced it firsthand."

Keira's face turned slightly red. Did he really need to say that out loud? How awkward.

"What I meant by an explanation was to ask if there's anything you need me to do for you. I don't think you'd want me to pay you off with a check."

Keira was stunned. "I don't need anything. I just hope, Mr. Parker, that you can keep this matter confidential."

"Is that all?"

"Yes," Keira responded seriously.

Harrison raised his handsome eyebrows, scrutinizing the slender girl before him. Finally, he nodded expressionlessly.

Keira grabbed her clothes and bag and quickly left the hotel room.

Harrison's lips curled into a wicked smile.

This woman was interesting.

Keira had only one thought in her mind: to get away from Harrison as soon as possible.

In North City, the 27-year-old president of Sovereign Group, Harrison Parker, represented power, wealth, and... danger.

It was rumored that to secure his position as president of Sovereign Group, he didn't hesitate to kill his elder brother and cripple his second brother Jarrett, ultimately succeeding in taking over.

If there was one person Keira dared not even think about or covet, it would undoubtedly be Mr. Parker before her.

Because Sovereign Group was the arch-enemy of Serrano Group.

And she never wanted to have anything to do with Serrano Group again in this lifetime.

Leaving the hotel, she slapped herself.

"Are you crazy? Of all men, why did it have to be Harrison..."

If Serrano family found out about this, she shook her head, not wanting to consider the consequences.

Her phone rang at that moment.

She took it out and saw it was Harrison calling.

Her fingers trembled; it was the first time his number appeared on her phone screen.

Why was he calling her?

Wouldn't ignoring the call seem guilty?

Just before the ringtone ended, she answered the phone. "Mr. Parker."

"As compensation for taking your first night, I promise you one condition. Anytime, you can ask me to do one thing for you, except making me fall in love with you."

Keira paused for a moment and then coldly replied, "Mr. Parker, I think you misunderstood. I'm not a prostitute."
