Chapter 1: Scum Man, Go Die

"Hurry, save him! Quick, save him!"

In front of the abandoned and desolate chemical factory on the outskirts, rows of Rolls-Royces stood out conspicuously. A delicate doll-like girl had an anxious expression on her face as she urged the encircled bodyguards to rescue the person.

One hundred and fifty meters ahead, a bound young boy with his head hanging low was tied to a tree stump covered in overgrown weeds.

But the most eye-catching thing was the timed bomb tightly bound to the boy's chest.

The red numbers kept ticking, with only a short ten minutes left!

"Miss, please leave quickly, or else there won't be enough time!"

The bodyguard standing on the outermost part of the encirclement frowned and urged, gritting his teeth. "The bomb is no joke. For your safety, we must withdraw!"

The other bodyguards nodded, sharing the same thought. However, if one looked closely, the concerned gazes directed at her carried a strong sense of disdain.

This young lady, who suffered from a severe case of princess syndrome, was notorious in all of Jingsbury for her arrogance and unruliness. Once she became willful, no one could restrain her. Now, she had come here to negotiate with the kidnappers, disregarding the danger, all for the sake of saving this little pretty-faced boy.

Truly, her mind must be clouded!

"A bunch of useless people!" The girl angrily pointed at the few bodyguards beside her and cursed loudly, "You useless bunch of cowards, I feel ashamed for you!"

"Miss Everett!" The first bodyguard to speak had red eyes from anger. "Please show some restraint!"

Their task was to protect her safety, not to risk an explosion to save her pretty-faced boy!

Fiona Everett sneered and used her finger to swipe across their faces one by one. Proudly, she said, "I've made myself clear. If anything happens to him, none of you will have it easy!"

Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang. Her heart raced, and she hurriedly answered, "Please don't detonate it. I've brought ten million dollars. Wasn't it said to exchange the money for his release? I beg you, please don't detonate the bomb!"

As she spoke, her voice, which was usually arrogant and independent, unexpectedly carried a hint of a sob.

"Miss Everett, you're indeed straightforward!" The kidnapper's voice on the phone sounded sinister, with a slight trace of satisfaction. "Then please have someone throw the money near the left side of the silver car. Once I receive it, the bomb will naturally stop!"

"Fine, fine!"

After hanging up the call, Fiona directed one of the bodyguards to deliver the money.

At this moment, there were only a short two minutes left until the bomb exploded!

Fiona's heart was pounding, and she kept her gaze fixed on the figure she longed for, not far ahead.

Another agonizing minute passed. The kidnapper should have received the money, as the red display on the bomb indeed stopped, freezing at fifty-five seconds on the countdown.

"Aren't you coming with me to save him?" Fiona coldly snorted, feeling a bit smug.

Ignoring the bodyguards' protection, she ran straight ahead, shouting with joy, "Marsh, I'm here to save you!"

Despite her ecstatic excitement, Marsh remained motionless.

There were still one hundred meters to go.

Fifty meters.

Fiona's footsteps hesitated slightly, and her eyes widened in disbelief.

Ahead, behind the pillar, inside the chemical factory's door, a familiar figure was gently swaying a red wine glass, smiling as they raised it in a toast toward her from a distance.

That person was none other than Marsh Presc, whom she risked everything to save!

And the one bound to the pillar was nothing more than a wax figure disguised as a decoy!

She had fallen for it!

The bodyguards were startled, instinctively trying to pull Fiona back, but as soon as their hands reached out, the numbers on the bomb suddenly rapidly reversed.

"Boom!"

The deafening sound of the explosion echoed on this desolate road in the outskirts.

The bodyguards lay scattered on the ground, one of them even suffering an injured hand, blood flowing profusely. However, they paid no attention to their own wounds, instead rushing over to look at Miss Everett lying lifelessly on the ground, reaching out to check her breath.

"Dead... gone."

Struggling to utter these two words, everyone's eyes were filled with despair. They realized that they had failed in their duty to protect, and now they would all suffer the consequences.

Amidst the heavy atmosphere, they didn't notice the slight tremor in Miss Everett, who had previously shown no signs of life.

"Anyway, let's bring the body back first."

"Yes."

With mixed emotions, they glanced at the bloodied girl on the ground, preparing to lift her up. But as their hands reached out, the supposedly lifeless person suddenly opened their eyes with a sharp glint, firmly grabbing the hand that was about to encircle her waist and coldly saying,

"Keep your distance."

The voice was icy and brooked no argument. It left them stunned for a while before they could regain their senses, looking incredulously at the girl who had come back from the dead.

Is this really Miss Everett?

Of course... it wasn't.

Fiona's cold gaze swept across their faces, and she sneered inwardly. She, the once fearsome Mercenary Queen, had died at the hands of the traitor who had been with her all along. What a joke!

"Fiona Everett."

Fiona pronounced her own name with a hint of amusement.

Trash? Worthless?

She curled her lips, her smile icy. It was time for them to know how the former Mercenary Queen, now considered trash, would reclaim her throne and exact revenge on those scumbags.

"Miss, are you alright?"

The nearby bodyguards were both astonished and relieved. They were surprised that she seemed unfazed after such a fall, and relieved that she was still alive. That meant they wouldn't lose their lives either.

"I'm fine, but..." Fiona wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and smiled wickedly. "Someone else is in trouble."

As she spoke, Marsh burst out from the entrance of the chemical plant, putting on a tearful and sniveling act while professing his love.

"Fiona, I love you! Forgive me for lacking confidence in myself and having to test your love this way! Now I know, you love me so much, and I love you even more! I love you a hundred thousand times more than you love me!"

Truly a freeloader, spouting all sorts of sickening sweet words, thinking he was so charming. He seduced the naive original owner, showered her with money, and even risked his life to come and save him here!

The bodyguards beside them felt a shiver down their spines, but they frowned and looked at Fiona. Given the mindset of this spoiled girl, she would definitely be moved to tears and give her heart and soul to him. Little did they know that the explosion that almost took her life came from his hands!

Marsh kneeled in front of Fiona, his mind full of calculations. If Mr. Elijah hadn't left him without a way out, and if the bomb hadn't been used up in one go, he wouldn't have had to fake this act for the worthless girl!

Of course, Marsh was satisfied with his performance. No matter what he did, as long as he kneeled, cried, and declared his love, Fiona, in her love for him, would unquestionably forgive him unconditionally.

This time... it would be the same.

But as time ticked by, minutes passing, they didn't hear the expected response. Marsh cautiously raised his head and saw the girl before him with a teasing smile, a hint of laziness in her voice as she casually asked,

"To what extent do you love me?"

"At all costs, I'm willing to face any danger for you! I'm willing to die for you!" Marsh, afraid that she wouldn't believe him, added firmly, "I'm willing to die for you!"

Fiona nodded in satisfaction, but in the eyes of the eager Marsh, she suddenly gripped his throat.

"Then please, go die."
