Chapter 2

The next few days in my room , since it was the weekend , it was better that I didn’t step out. I didn’t want to run into my step brothers in any way so I was doing all that I could to avoid them .

Mom told me that she was coming today and I still wonder why she isn’t here yet. I understand the fact that she and my step dad always have stuff going on with them but I too wanted to see my mother .

I knew it would take a long , but I could care less , I just want her to be home already .

Since I returned home that Friday , I haven’t seen any of them and that was the best part of spending my weekend alone .

Their face was the last thing I wanted to see and most importantly I didn’t want to see Nate .

I hated him to the core and I just hate the fact that he makes me feel less of myself all the time .

My phone vibrated and I dropped the book that I was reading and looked at the caller .

It was Sophia and not my mother as I expected .

Hey bitch , what’s up ? Sophia called out excitedly .

“ Well , if you stop calling me a bitch, then we can have a normal conversation .

“ Sorry I got on your nerves , but I think that I have a surprise for you .

“ What's that , you know I hate surprises.

“ Come out .

“ what ?”

Come out b , you surprise is waiting , and the other end went silent , she had ended the call .

I didn’t know how to feel , Sophia knew how much I hated surprised and yet she still does that like it doesn’t matter what I feel or not .

Sophia is the only person I am permitted to see , my mom could get so pissed if she finds out that I was seeing anyone .

As much as I am still happy that my mother remarried , I still will not deny the fact that the two of us didn’t have a good relationship after my father died .

I got out of the house and just as I got the guest room Sophia was sitting out there

The moment she saw me , she sprang into my arms hugging me tightly .

“ A text would have been better “ I told her as we both walked to my room .

Unlike me, Sophia came from a good family , she was the last child and had elder ones who were married and lastly her family was filled with so much love for each other than me who had just my mom and she doesn’t have much of my time like before .

“ Don’t tell me you have been in this room all day?”

I didn’t say a word but I just nodded and the disappointed looks appeared on her face again .

Sophia's face suddenly lightened up and she smiled .

“ let’s go shopping “ she whispered and before waiting for my reply she literally dragged me out of my room.

I knew that she was doing this because she wanted to see me happy but I knew that this wasn’t what she had in mind but her being here was just to see my step brothers she had a big crush on them .

“ I can only imagine what it feels like living with them , I don’t think I care about the way I am being treated , I just want to see their face all day long .

“ Ok then , you should dress up as me and come experience the terror that I feel .

“ beautiful terror you say ?”

Replying to her was a waste, she was just like the rest of them , in love with them. I could only imagine the kind of heroic welcome they were going to receive after sending my school to the finals .

Sophia and I shopped to our fill before we agreed to call it a day .

It was already 8pm when I came home and seeing the familiar car in the garage , my mom was back .

Just as I had predicted , she was and not only was she but my step brothers , they were all seated in the dining room eating like a happy family .

“ Mom , I called out when I finally found my voice. I haven’t seen her in two months .

“ not now ? Just go to your room “

I didn’t bother to argue with her either , I just walked straight to my room and I sat there waiting for my mother to come .

I wished that my mom could listen but she wouldn’t do that , all she wanted was my step dad and taking of him , the last time that I saw him was on the wedding day , he didn’t seem to care about my presence as much as his sons , I gueee he don’t even know my name .

Just as I had predicted , after waiting for 30 minutes the door to my room open and my mom walked in .

“ I missed you , I told her as I tried to hug her , but instead she pulled back without sparing me a glance .

“ you step brothers said you have been Nothing but stupid and you have spent money of the nights out, I haven’t been gone for more than two months and you can’t just control yourself .

“ That's not true , you know it” my voice came out more silently than I can ever imagine .

“ what’s not true , no you tell me what is true, and what isn’t , Are you trying to tell me that your brothers are lying , I know you are become so unruly of yourself but not like this .

“ you didn’t want this marriage to work and it’s all your fault that you killed him in the first place , don’t try to ruin my life Serena , if you try that, I will ruin yours too , I don’t care if you are my daughter after all I don’t know if that was true because you look too ugly to be mine .

What was left of me was a shattered and broken heart , my mother saying those words to me broke me into pieces , yes I have heard them a different times but now from my own mother , she hated me to the core .

My mother didn’t wait for my words but once she was done , she shut the door on my face .

I felt helplessly on the ground , the tears pouring out as I nursed what was left of my broken heart .
