Chapter One: Lecture time

Harper and Charlie get ready for lectures

Harper and Charlie are childhood friends, raised in Serangoon by poor parents. Harper lost her father, which made her struggle to earn a living. She was called Harper by her mother, an American citizen from Alabama, who got married to Eric a Singaporean. Harper attend university in Serangoon and working at thesame time. She had a lecturer named Alexander, a young and handsome lecturer and an Entrepreneur. He own the highest poultry farm and lands in Serangoon where he cultivate crops and have employee around, having all these, he earns a much which made him a billionaire. He have chooses lecturing where he can practicalized his profession.

Alexander had refused to get married. He had watched his parents engage in domestic violence on a regular basis during his childhood, thesame led them to divorce, including that which he saw in the environment. This made him not think of marriage. He decided to live a life dating ladies in campus. While doing that, he got to meet Harper, a virgin, whom he considered disturbing for sex; she refused, and because of that, he kept failing her in his course. Harper kept to her word not to allow Alexander have sex with her.

Unfortunately for her, her mother fell sick, and her school fee is to be paid to commence the next academic section which was her final year; she had nothing in her to meet up with the bills. Where she works during the night, she is paid $1000 monthly.

Seeing that she was unable to pay the bill, she was encouraged by Charlie, her friend, to seek financial help from Alexander; she went, and he promised to settle her with one million five hundred dollars if only she would have a contract pregnancy for him. She will get impregnated through implementation. Harper agreed to that after hearing about the money involved. He treated her well, and while she lived with him as agreed, she troubled him a lot, responding to the reaction from her Pregnancy, but at last they both fell in love with each other. Alexander, who was expecting twins, ended up having quintuplets with Harper; and he made her his wife.

The story begins...

It is already Monday. Harper and Charlie had lectures to attend. Both were still in bed around 7:40 A.M., and the lecture was said to commence by 8:00 A.M.

" My God, Harper, wake up! It is already 7:40 A.M. and we are late to Mr. Lan class. " Charlie yelled at Harper.

"What!"? Harper exclaimed as she jumped from the bed. They both made haste to take their baths. Charlie went in first, after which went to get her as well. They quickly left without proper dressing, apart from the cream they had on their bodies and the clothes. " Oh my God, I forgot my wrist watch!" Harper screamed at the top of her voice.

" Abeg, let's continue. Mine will serve us better. replied Charlie. They stop a taxi going towards the school. " how much?" asked Layla. " $5" answered the taxi man. They pleaded with him to accept $4, but he insisted on $4 aira. Layla looked at Harper, knowing fully that all they had was $4 naira and nothing more. "Okay let's go," Harper replied. " What, are you okay with? Charlie asked with her view to let her know that they just had nothing more to offer than that. " You can stay there for all I care." The lecture is already on and we need to meet up on time." Charlie answered her. They jumped into the taxi, which made the driver nearly shout at them with the way they hit the car door as they entered. They asked the driver to speed up the car. " You people do not know when the day breaks? He asked them rudely, and the girls echoed " we don't blame you" they said on top of their voices. Getting to the school gate, Charlie brought out the $4 and gave it to the taxi man. He refused to accept it. " We agreed on $5. "Why $4?" the driver asked. "That is all we have, unless you will take us back from where you brought us, and besides, we are running late." Harper told him. They were about to go in when he dragged Charlie on her blouse and had it cut a bit. " I think you have bought a market and this time around you will pay for it." The blouse is $20 while our bill is $5. Make your calculation and give me my balance. " Charlie again asked him as she held the little part he had torn. Is this a trick to deceive me? asked the driver, "No, it is a movie." She answered him. "Make your choice now," Charlie asked him, in addition to what she had said previously. But he was dumbfounded and wouldn't say a word. He then let them go. Charlie. Who saw it as an avenue to be used as defense rather than balancing the driver. She , felt release in her heart along with Charlie when he said, "You girl can go." They got to the lecture hall, but the class was still not yet filled. At the same time, noise was everywhere since there were no lecture ongoing. "Is there no lecture again?" When they heard noise from their department while still a little distance from the building, Harper asked Charlie. Although the lecturer had a change of time, Mr. Lan had announced his coming to be by 9:00 am. He exchanged his lecture time with Mrs Asher but Mrs. Asher had an engagement and wouldn't make it.

" What a mess," Charlie said. She gets upset and holds on to the class rep, Samuel, for not being able to send them a message in the group chart. " Check your phone." I passed the information right around 8:00 in the morning, " said Samuel, She checked and it was true that he did so, only that they were carried away trying to meet up with the lecture.

" Please don't blame us. We were in a hurry and failed to check our phones, but you could have called us na, "Charlie said to him with playfully style. " When did you both pay your monthly contribution as promised, or do you think I will use my airtime to call those that can't contribute?" He asked them, using them as an example of a student who always fails to pay their monthly contribution as he placed his hands on his note book when his phone rang. He checked it; it was Mr. Lan Calling.

"Good morning, sir," greets . Mr Lan, Samuel responded to him, after which he told him to pass the information to the student that he won't be able to make it to the lecture and is thereby prospond to be held next Monday. When Samuel dropped the phone, he began to imagine how hard the student would be on him after he had passed the information, but he had to do that.

" Good morning, class," He greeted, but the majority of the students failed to respond to him. "Eh, he has come again." It is either to buy a school or to tell you that the lecture won't be held again. A students, said And, much to their surprise, he passed out the information, including Mrs. Asher, who had called immediately after Lan had finished speaking with him on the phone. " Sorry, they will be held next week," Samuel apologized on behalf of the lecturer.

"Shu! Charlie sounded. "What did these people take us for?" Did they know what I passed through on the road before coming to school, and not be able to get my breakfast just because of them? Now they have fall my hands. " She said, all alone.

" They are the boss and we are the staff.They should continue to tease us the way they want. At last we will all graduate. " Harper said, in a loud voice. They hissed at Samuel and said, " Tell your lecturers that they are trying." Charlie said and pushed him to the point that he nearly hit his head on the wall.

Meanwhile, Charlie and Harper annoyance isn't just that the lecture didn't hold but also that the $4 was the last money with them and they didn't have anything else to eat aside from the bread and water left at home " Assuming you know how to pray, God could have shown us this and our money will be reserved. At the very least, we could use it for Noodles." Charlie informed Harper.

Layla said, "I am the only one who can pray." please let go and have something for lunch." Harper ordered her.

The next Monday

After the first and second lectures of the day. It was time for Alexander to take the third lecture on Mathematics.

Alexander a Serangoon man, a husband and well brought up by his divorce parents, he studies at Serangoon and their become a lecture at of 25, where his father is the chancellor of the university. Many ladies sort out how to get his attention, and whenever he has something to do with any of them, that individual stands a chance of not failing his paper and other support from him.

He had failed Harper several time in his course during the last exam of which she is to rewrite, even though she have be performing well. While his agenda was to do with her the same way he had been doing with others ladies, which is to have sex with him before he would give her expected score. Harper then became his target. In order for Harper not to get more upset, she leaves the classes whenever he is to take them.

" Hi, pretty! said Aiden. Harper best friend comes from the engineering department. Aiden had known her as a friend for a long time. Aiden was busy eating his snack he sat closer to her to have a gist with her.

" How were today's lectures?" Harper asked him. " The lecture is fine except for the fact that I am hungry." Aiden answered. "Why are you complaining of hunger when you are here eating snack, you never care to share with me?" Harper speaks while going through her lecture notes.

"Okay, have some with me, for there is love in sharing." Aiden said, forwarding the Snacks o her. He again said, " I thought you had lectured because I checked your class before coming and I realized that Alexander is in your class lecturing.What then are you doing outside?" he asked her. " That womanizer, should remain in the class.Anyway, I have decided not to attend his lecture; his present irritates me alongside the grudges I have with him over giving me carry-over in his course during his last exam. Which I know vividly that I wrote well. " She explained.

"I know that he is up to something and that must be you giving him your body, but I believe you wouldn't try that like others." He said to her, signaling for a cool drink from store he wanted to purchase a drink to help push down the Snack he was eating.

" If others can do it, I won't be a part of it." She said

"Seriously, I won't lie to you. " Alexander is so handsome, he has money, and at the same time, he has the qualifications it takes to be a man." I don't blame him. Besides, ladies are trooping into his office on a daily basis, including my departmental girls. I mean, hot babies. " Aiden was speaking with seriousness when Charlie met them.

"Isn't it Alexander who asked about you in the lecture this afternoon?" See, this man is hot and he has the cash. If I were you, I would do what he wanted, and at the end, eat from his pocket. Or are you attempting to imply that you are special from those who have be doing it with him? Charlie asked, shaking her body around.

" Are you done talking? Harper asks, followed by Charlie, who responds, "Yes, I am done talking." Okay, since you are done talking, let's go home. But first we need to buy fish to use in preparing the stew, as planned. Harper reminded her and they both made their way to the market, including Aiden, who had complained of hunger.
