We’re Completing Our Vows

Lucille’s POV

Loud beeping sounds echoed in my ear as my heart raced faster in my chest. But I couldn't move my body and the darkness that overwhelmed me caused more distress.

I tried to flutter my eyes open, but I couldn't. Was I dead again? Had I wasted the second chance given to me so easily? Or was I in a coma?

I hoped it was none of these. I had to be fine to take my revenge, which would be a million times worse because Vanessa attempted to kill me.

It was evident that even in this life or the past, I was still in danger as long as Vanessa was free.

I struggled more to move and my fingers flicked. Slowly, I clenched my fist, mustering all the strength I could until my eyes were forced open.

I gasped in relief as my blurry gaze met with a white ceiling. The antiseptic pungent smells evaded my senses strongly, but at least I was alive.

It took twenty minutes of me staying still and trying to regain my energy before a nurse walked in.

"Miss, how do you feel?" I heard a soft feminine voice and turned my gaze to my side. "Can you hear me?"

I closed my eyes briefly before nodding.

"Yes," I replied. "I feel...relieved," I muttered as my vision slowly cleared.

"Well, that's good," She replied with a polite smile.

"Do you know who brought me here?" I asked, my voice low.

It couldn't be Vanessa. That bitch must have left me to die.

"There were two men who brought you here," She revealed, getting my attention.

"Two men?" I said, my voice raspy. "Are they still here? How do they look?"

"One of them looked extremely wealthy, he was wearing a black fitted tailored suit. He has sharp dark hair, and was extremely handsome while the other one was also handsome...but wore a blue shirt and pants," She said, describing the men.

They were my ex-husbands.

"They paid for your bills, and asked us to take extremely good care of you," She added, smiling.

Care, indeed!

I wasn't grateful to them for bringing me here. I couldn't feel gratitude to the same people who ruined my life in the past. Both of them caused me emotional trauma and heartache for choosing Vanessa over me.

I was never going to forgive either of them. They would also pay along with her for causing me such problems.

"Are they still around?" I asked.

"I don't know...do you want to see them?" the nurse asked softly.

"No!" I blurted, uninterested in seeing their disgusting faces. "It's fine."

"If you say so," She whispered.

"Thank you."

I was about to close my eyes to rest some more when the door suddenly flung open.

"Lucille!"

I saw Brandon, looking disorganized and enraged.

"Get out!" He snapped at the nurse.

"Sir, you can't be here—"

"Shut the hell up and get out before I ruin your stupid career!" He cut her off, shouting.

The nurse, visibly shaken, rushed out of the room.

"Brandon, leave me alone," I uttered firmly, unwilling to hear anything he had to say.

"How dare you ditch me at the altar?" He yelled, walking over to me.

My heart raced wildly as he moved closer to me.

"Do you know the humiliation you put me through?" He roared, his face inching closer to mine. "My family members are mocking me. I'm now the talk of the town, everyone is saying that I must have been a bad partner to you, for you to have pulled that stunt. Have I ever been awful to you?!"

As he yelled in my face, I closed my eyes in fright. My chest heaving up and down in fear.

"You fucking bitch!" He sneered. "You're gonna pay for leaving me at that church. You'll suffer for your actions, I swear it."

"Nothing you say will stop me from divorcing you..." I said, my voice trembling. "So, leave me alone."

"I will never leave you alone!" He shouted in my face.

The monitor beeped faster, my fear heightening.

I thought he was going to do something to me, but suddenly the door opened and my ex-husbands walked in.

"What is this bastard doing here?" Martin spat, storming to him and grabbing his collar.

"Let me go!" Brandon sneered, struggling with him.

But he was no match for Martin. Martin pulled him towards the door while Kent opened the door. Martin flung him out like a piece of paper. The scene was almost hilarious.

Martin walked back in and closed the door behind him.

"How do you feel, cupcake?" Kent asked, his voice laced with concern.

Why was he concerned for me? Why were both of them acting this way?

"Look Cherry, I can make your divorce with that bastard faster. Also, I'll ensure he never disturbs you again," Martin whispered, walking to me. "You look so pale."

His hand reached for my face, but I pulled back. I hadn't forgotten all the pain he made me experience. He was my first in everything, and the pain he caused, cut me deep.

"Cherry, are you hungry? Do you feel any discomfort? Should I call the doctor?" He asked, leaning in. His handsome face came closer to mine, and those hypnotizing eyes of his threatened to captivate me again.

I quickly looked away and nodded.

"I'm fine," I sighed. "Can you both please leave me alone? I want to rest."

"Alright, cupcake," Kent agreed. "I'll leave for now, but I'll be back to check on you."

I reluctantly nodded.

As Kent left, Martin still remained.

"Go," I urged.

He chuckled darkly, "Take care."

With that, he walked out of my room. I let out a sharp exhale, before huffing at their pretentious attitude. I wouldn't be fooled again in this life.

"I have to contact my family. I can't continue this way," I whispered to myself.

I adjusted on the bed and closed my eyes. If a nurse walked in, I would borrow a phone. With that thought in mind, I drifted to sleep.

A while later, the door creaked. I snapped my eyes open, just to see Brandon inside my room.

"Brandon, what are you doing here?"I panicked.

"Lucille, we're completing our vows, and staying until death do us part, whether you like it or not!" He sneered, rushing to me.

"Brandon, let me go!"
