My Crush and My Roommate Fell in Love

"My boyfriend wants to thank you. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have met. So you must come to this dinner," she said, hugging my arm and acting coy.

Should I accept this invitation? After all, her boyfriend was the man I'd had a crush on for five years.

A few days ago, Matt returned to the country and asked me to have dinner with him. Angela saw the message, and what was supposed to be a date for two turned into a gathering of three.

I never expected that a simple meeting would lead me to hand over the man I'd liked for five years.

In the afternoon, Angela and I walked out of the campus and saw Matt waving at us from a distance while leaning against his car. Angela immediately ran towards him with a bright smile. He hugged her tightly, his smile indulgent. I stood there watching this scene, feeling a bit stung.

After two minutes of their intimate interaction, they finally remembered my presence.

"Sue, let's go," he called out to me while holding Angela's hand.

I nodded at him and walked over to open the car door, sensibly sitting in the back seat. As soon as I got in, a huge bouquet of roses on the front seat caught my eye. Angela, as expected, was delighted and hugged the flowers while acting cute.

"Baby, I love you so much."

He really knew how to please women.

He drove us to the best restaurant in the city. Angela glanced around subtly but with noticeable admiration. Even though she tried to hide it well, I could see the longing in her eyes at that moment.

"Sue, thank you for introducing me to Angela. This is a gift we picked out for you," he said, handing me a delicately wrapped box from behind him.

"Sue, take it. It's that perfume you like," Angela said as she clung to him, like a noble princess rewarding her maid.

Suddenly, I felt disoriented in time. Three days ago, I was standing next to Matt introducing him to my roommate, Angela. How did our roles reverse so quickly? Now I seemed like a clown between them.

The exquisite and expensive food in front of me was hard to swallow.

I remembered my five-year crush on him. Once, Angela saw his photo on my phone and tentatively asked if I liked Matt.

I didn't answer at that time, but after Matt returned to the country, she insisted on meeting him with me.

Then they became boyfriend and girlfriend. And I became their mutual friend.
