Chapter 7 - Twin Connection part 2

Andrea's POV

I'm laying in the uncomfortable, metal cot bed in my cage. Unable to close my eyes. Thinking back to what I saw.

I turn my head to look at Mute.

Now I know why everyone calls her Mute. I don't understand how she cannot make a sound. I look at her laying on her bed. Her hair, I'm not even sure what colour her hair is. All I see is a matted, red mass attached to her sculp. They didn't even have the decency to wash her off after they completely butchered her.

I begin to cry again and I see Mute's back, that is facing me, tense and stiffen from the sound I make. She's not sleeping. I doubt anyone actually sleeps. I want to reach out to her. Hold her. Tell her everything will be OK. But I can't. The guilt inside me takes over and glues me to the mattress. It wasn't me....

My wolf suddenly starts pacing trying to get my attention.

"What is it Storm?" I ask her, trying to calm her down. Maybe yesterday was a breaking point for her. I wouldn't blame her. I've heard about other werewolves who were brought here, who ended up losing their wolves altogether. That thought alone scares me. I don't want to lose Storm.

"Listen!" she says. "I can hear Dakota. She's calling us. Just listen." I take note of her words and close my eyes, knitting my brows together to concentrate. Storm is right.

" D! Is that you?" I say through desperation. Clinging to the hope that it is her and that there is the possibility of getting out of here.

" Yes. it's me. We don't have much time. Please, please, you need to help us find you. I saw what they did yesterday through your eyes. Please Andi. Help me find you!" she all but yelps in my head.

"What do you want me to do? I'll do it, just get us the fuck out of here." I plead with her.

"Look around as much as you can. Look for a name, look outside for landmarks, tell me what you smell, what you can hear, anything to help us pinpoint where you are..... I can see what you see so you don't even have to describe anything. Just look." Without even questioning her, I frantically jump out of the bed Im in and start looking around, at anything, at everything. Trying to be as quiet as I can. I stand on my bed and on my tippie toes just so I can peek out the small window by my cage. The window is more like a whole, there's no glass. Letting every ounce of cold air in but keeping none of the warm air. I hoist myself up until I can see outside. I notice the huge barrel like silo structures out in the concrete yard. Heavy fencing surrounding the compound. I see a blurred, branding on the barrels. "BLENCHER'S"

I close my eyes and concentrate on the sounds around me. Trucks... Quite a few of them... Sounds like we're close to a highway. I can hear the trucks traveling at quite high speeds. I then take in a deep breath smelling everything that could make a difference to me, narrowing down my location. And there it was.... The smell of corn...

"The Old Mill compound! " we both mentally yell out. Both of us knew this compound. We grew up near and around it. It used to be a huge commercial corn farm. The Blencher's were the family that owned and ran the farms. When the rogues started attacking the packs in the area they must have attacked the compound too. I hadn't realise that they had taken it over, combined their forces with hunters and used it as a base for all this cruelty. For rogues and hunters to be working together seemed like a far fetched idea, but it was a reality that was right in front of me.

I signed in a dulled sort of hope.

"Still dreaming of the outside Blondie?" Cassandra muttered in a fake, half sleepy tone.

"Damn straight. It's more than just a dream vamp." I retort.

My response catches the attention of both Mute and Agatha.

"Whatchya mean Andi?" Agatha says in her heavy southern accent.

Mute moves closer to my cage. No sign of torture left on her blank face.

"My pack knows where I am." I state in a matter of fact kind of way.

Cassandra's eyes start glowing from the opposite side of the room from me. And in them. I see a glimmer of something.

"Well, well.... Now isn't that an interesting fact..." she says glowering at me from her cage. "I tell you what, Sweetheart. You let me know when your pack is outside." She says with a slight raise on the edge of her lips and a teasing look in her hypnotic red eyes.

"What?  You don't believe me?" I say slightly irritated with the vampire. The second that comment leaves my lips I regret it. What if she uses that to save her own skin. She'd get us killed. Fuck! Why did I say anything! Goddess, Andrea, you really are thick! I start scolding myself.

Cassandra must have seen me mentally slapping myself up side the head when she started to chuckle.

"Oh I believe you. But I'm not going to allow you to leave...." I swollow the lump in my throat. Hard. "without the rest of us." she continues and chuckles at me.

"Y_You want to come with me?" I stutter a stupid question. Another mental slap up side the head.

"Someone needs to show poor Mute here what the out doors looks like. And... No offense, but I don't trust her with you ladies... Poor Mute has been tortured enough. Don't you think?" She laughs and doesn't expect a response to what she meant as a rhetorical question.

" Bah! Mute! Don't listen to that vamps ramblings, she'd have you in a blood bank as a doner before you could blink. " Says Agatha.

" I think she's donated enough blood for this cause!" Spat Cassandra at Agatha.

None of us could argue with that statement. We all turn to Mute who is just sitting there watching us. As we look we all thought we saw something stir in her turquoise eyes. Hope? Maybe. Revenge? Probably. A plan to help us get out of here? I hope so. She's been here longer than anyone else. Surely she knows this place?
