Mating With the Second Chance

Daisy's POV

"Get up! Get up!" I heard the commanding sound of the Alpha with his ferocious footsteps, following him were multiple footsteps. Being that my room was close to the living room which was the first in the apartment, I heard everything. I sprang up suddenly, my heart gripped and I breathed multiple times a second.

I held my heart as I slowly stepped out of bed in my pyjamas, sliding into my slippers.

My heart was lost in anxiety, as I wondered what was going on. It was early in the morning, 4 AM when I stared at the clock.

Right in front of me was Alpha Charles, the Alpha of our pack, the Redmoon Pack. Behind him were five soldiers, armed with their swords.

"What's happening here?" I murmured with a shaky tone, refusing to step down the stairs in fear. Alpha Charles raised his furious eyes at me, and my wolf withdrew, shaking with terror. My lips hung wide in horror when I looked to the side of the stairs which led to my parents' room only to see them being led forward in chain.

"You are both going to be executed today. I sentence you to death for the murder of my mom whom you conspired against."

I fell to my knees, tears sprung from my eyes. I swayed my hands wide before me as I looked at the Alpha. "Please Alpha, don't do this to my mom and dad. They are innocent, they were only protesting against a wicked woman."

As the Alpha turned slowly with his bloodshot eyes towards me, my head turned. I felt blurred, and my heart almost dropped. "I'm finished!" I whispered to my wolf.

My parents were the only surviving activists in the Redmoon Pack as the wicked Alpha had executed the rest, I thought he would never do such to my parents as my dad was the Beta of the pack, the second in command.

Two years ago, Lady Devan, the Alpha's mom returned from a foreign pack where she went to stay after her reign as the Luna of the Pack. During her reign, she was the evil queen of the pack who had no mercy on anyone, so when she returned, it was a sad moment for all the members of the pack.

It didn't stop there, she began to practice witchcraft acts, it was suspected that she became a hybrid over her stay in the foreign pack which was a crime in the Redmoon Pack. It didn't take long when Lady Devan began to bewitch a lot of people in the pack. No one dared to confront her, she was the indomitable force no one could deal with.

One certain day, she visited the Beta's apartment, which was my dad's share of the pack estate. She met with my mom, who suspected something sinister was about to happen.

"I came to take your daughter, Daisy as my maid!" She said with so much authority, I was hiding behind the door of my room watching all that was going on. A few days later she was overheard by my cousin confessing in a call to a supposed confidante of planning to use me for a ritual.

When my parents heard of it, they ran mad. They began to spread the news of her conspiracy, they made everyone so afraid of her stand up in protest. When Alpha Charles realized they were going to put an end to her life, he had her relocate back to where she came from.

The second time she came back to her pack, news of the death of the former Alpha, her husband and her being responsible was already everywhere. Her son, the alpha tried to protect her but it wasn't possible, there were lots of proofs.

"Let's kill her or else she would kill us all!" Everyone protested. It seemed it would be impossible during the presence of the Alpha, but to everyone's luck, the day he travelled with his wife and son to an Alpha's conference, the pack members took this special privilege, storming into her apartment and lynching her.

Alpha Charles got so furious when he returned. "Who did this?" He growled all over the pack estate, as he returned to see his mom's dead body lying on the grounds of the estate.

It was however a sad fact to see everyone put my parents in front as though they did something bad. I remembered how I cried my eyes so hard that night I heard rumours that the king was planning to execute my parents, Robert, the Alpha's son was the first to let me know.

I cried more tears than I'd ever cried in my life. "Just because you're underage, you would suffer this same punishment!" He fired back at my defence of my parents.

"But I demote you from a Beta to an Omega. You will forever remain an Omega!" He declared.

As it stood, the Alpha was the representative of the moon goddess in each pack. Whatever he said was recognized, whether in private or public so far as he said it with seriousness.

The moment he pronounced these words, I felt my wolf sunk low, and its pride and high esteem drastically dropped. I groaned in pain inside me as I witnessed the pain of demotion.

"Get her!" He ordered his guards, two of whom stormed towards me. My eyes poked out from my sockets, almost pulling out. I thought of running inside my room, it was as useless as nothing because I would not be able to escape from there. Even my legs were so weak that I couldn't even stand when they raised me to my feet.

"Take her to the haunted cottage!" He ordered, his deep, sinister tone filling the entire room with a deadly aura. The haunted cottage was a house believed to be haunted by the spirits of pack members who were executed for committing abominations which the pack rules singled out.

"How am I supposed to live here?" I protested.

The Alpha didn't say a word, but I got a terrible slap which almost got me deafened. I watched with my blurry eyes how my parents were led out in chains.

This was the last time I was seeing them, my wolf told me. I cried a whole lot of tears that night.

"She will be taken to the cottage at dawn, Make sure everyone gathers by the road, they have to see her taken out of the pack."

The Alpha changed his mind at the dining minute but it was nothing to rejoice over, it was like a suspended sentence. Early at dawn, the soldiers arrived to lead me to the haunted cottage which was at the edge of the pack. Life didn't matter much to me at that moment, I buried all my thoughts, dreams and aspirations of the future in the reality of fate which tumbled over me.

"Make sure you don't ever return to my pack, I'll kill you should I set my eyes on you," Alpha Charles warned me through a call.

I couldn't say anything except accept, "Yes Alpha."

The next day, I was tormented than I ever expected, more emotionally than physically, the spirits didn't disturb me as much but I was depressed. My heart was greatly disturbed as I had day nightmares of my parents screaming in horror as they were about to be executed. The rule of the pack stipulated three days before anyone who's about to be executed is finally killed.

I began to process millions of thoughts in my mind.

"You got to do something so you don't lose your parents," my wolf kept pressuring me, even more than I would do myself. Finally, I arrived at a decision.

To meet with Robert and ask him to talk to his dad.

Alpha Robert was the young Alpha, the son of Alpha Charles, his dad's favourite. He's my childhood sweetheart, being the son of the Alpha and the daughter of the Beta, we got very close, and even up till now that I had great hopes one day we would discover ourselves as mates.

This was a risk to take. The Alpha had already warned me not to come into his pack again, lest he would execute me. He was a man of his word but if I want to go by his words, I'll watch my parents die, I'll never be able to see them again.

Circumstances pushed me into risking my life to save theirs. "If I can just convince Robert to talk to his dad, then he will reverse the punishment!" I said inside of my mind as I walked through the lonely path linking the cottage to the main square leading to the pack.

During this time of the day, the Alpha was out for work in his office which was located at the pack's secretariat, about fifty meters from the estate. I knew Robert's apartment, I covered a veil over my face, rushing towards it. Once I got in, I planned not to get out except when I would be going back which had to be quick before the Alpha returned.

I tiptoed through the corridor of the Alpha's apartment leading from here to his son's, my heart played drums and my wolf was shaking to convulsion.

I released a deep breath of relief when I reached Robert's door but then there were deep moans coming from the room, I placed my ear closed to the door to listen well then I remembered I didn't need to doubt. I'm a werewolf with a sharp sense of hearing. If I was hearing this, then it was real.

"Could Robert be cheating on me?" I questioned myself, my wolf was here pushing me towards opening the door. As the moans of a guy and girl sounded louder, I pushed the door with anger and anxiety, only to step backwards with rounded lips.

"What's this?" I murmured. Robert was on top of Camilla, the girl in the pack who had been trying her best to seduce him for a while now, he had been ignoring Camilla in my presence so well that I felt so glad to have such a guy. Though we weren't mates, we were a couple everyone knew. Our friendship didn't begin today, but right from when we were kids.

As the two noticed me, they pulled the bed cover swiftly over me.

"No need to cover up!" I said, starting to move into the room when I saw Robert rise from the bed, with bloodshot eyes which took my mind to those of his dad yesterday.

"If you take a step closer, I'll kill you!" I vibrated at this moment like someone who had an electric current passed through her. Hearing someone you shared the same heart with say this to you was more terrifying than death.

"I know what you're here for, to plead with my dad but I would rather advise you to leave before he returns." He paused releasing angry breaths. "--I'll assist in making sure he puts an end to your miserable life!" I could see from his eyes he was so serious, not just because of Camilla who was watching this go on with a grin on his lips.

My legs shook. I couldn't control the vibrations taking over me, I stepped back continuously as he walked towards me with fury, at this point, it didn't even matter that he was naked. All that mattered was me escaping for my life.

"I never knew you were such a hypocrite!" I muttered as he stepped close to the door, I was expecting him to reply to me, but he shut the door so hard a slammed against my face. I shut my eyes tight as the door closed with a loud, terrifying sound.

I had no choice now but to run for my life, praying that no one caught me if not it would be the end of me.
