Jake

Rachael's  POV

"You must be raving mad!" Justin growled at me, grabbing me by the neck once again.

This time, his fingernails dug deep into my skin.. causing me to bleed. His anger knew no bounds and no matter how much pain was shown on my face as I struggled, he wouldn't let go.

Instead, added more pressure.. delighting in my pain as he tried to prove his point. "I would never grovel at your feet." He said, bringing his face close to my ears. "And for this stupid request you have made, I will be sure to put you in your place very soon, slave!"

I must have flattened his ego with my request, and that was the plan; my plan. I wanted to bring him down to Earth so he'd understand how it feels on my side of the world. Guess he wasn't ready to learn yet.

"Okay then." I managed to shrug. Staring at him lazily...  I said, "You've made your point. Now, let go."

He did the opposite of letting go.. he squeezed my neck a bit more, causing me to gasp for air. On seeing I wasn't going to back down or apologize.. he let go.

I fell to the ground while coughing profusely, holding my chest with my right hand.

"You better watch your back from now onwards." He threatened, pointing his finger angrily at my face.

I was going to tell him to go a suck a dick, but I decided to stay quiet.

I stood up, arranged my clothes.. raised my shoulder high, stared at him in disapproval.. then walked out of his room, heading straight for mine.

As I got closer to my room, I noticed that someone was standing right in front of my door and when I got closer, I saw that it was no one else but Jake.

He smiled as soon as I got close but I knew already that it was all fake. I'd never seen him smile around me, so there is no way that my presence would have made him happy. It was impossible and he also knew it.

I wondered why he felt the need to try to deceive me. It was a needless thing to do.

"Finally I get to see the most popular girl in the entire of Crimson pack." He said to me, but I just ignored him and went straight to opening my room door. I really need to get me some rest.

After what had happened with Justin, I really do not have time for any other scheme or bullshit.

"What do you want, Jake?" I drawled, opening the door and walking inside a bit.

"Can I come in?"

"Fine." I reluctantly said, walking straight to my bed and he followed me closely behind.

When I turned around and saw his face, he was busy looking around my room with his face squeezed in disgust. It was clear that he wasn't impressed with what he saw but when he noticed that I was looking at him, he immediately put a smile on, but even that looked so fake.

He is not so good at hiding how he felt about things, that I can see.

"It's obvious that you are disgusted by my room, so why are you here?" I asked him, clearly calling out his bullshit so he'd just cut to the chase. It wasn't like I didn't know why he is here, but it had to come from his mouth. I want to hear him say it.

"What do you think?" That was his answer and it was met with a smirk.

"I thought as much!"

"Look here, Rachael. I have a beautiful proposition for you and I'm sure it's better than whatever anyone might have offered you. I'm sure you're going to like it. You won't even be able to refuse it."

I loved the sound of that. If he was that confident, I hoped it was something very enticing, unlike what his brother had said. That would have been a waste of his time and mine. I wasn't in for anything basic. If he wanted it, he had to make me give him what he wanted and only a befitting offer could do that.

"Let me hear you then." I said to him. "I hope you're not all talk. I wouldn't want to be disappointed after hearing what you have to say. There seems to be a lot of that these days, you know."

"It's a straightforward one though. If you choose me as your mate, I'll make sure that you're reunited with your parents."

It was a very tempting offer. It was as good as he thought or even better. Being reunited with my people has always been my wish. I couldn't have wished for anything better than leaving this shithole of a Pack and returning to mine. If it still existed.

I wasn't going to give in that easily though. It wasn't going to be any fun. After all, I hadn't even heard from the other guys. I also didn't know if he was a man who would keep to his word. There was one way to find out.

"Well, that sounds nice but before I can accept your proposal and do what you want, it's only fair that you do something for me in return, isn't it?" I asked with a cheeky smile on my face which clearly annoyed him. I couldn't care less. It was my time to have a bit of fun with him and I was determined to do just that.

"And what might that be?" He asked grinning.

"I want you to elevate my status in this Pack from that of a slave. I think I shouldn't be referred to as a slave anymore. Surely, if you want me to choose you as a mate, I should not be seen as a mere..."

"But..."

"I am not done! And you allow me finish before cutting in." I said with much authority, rolling my eyes at his interruption. "I also want to be taken out of this disgusting room and given a better room. One befitting for someone of the new status which you'll give to me. If you can do just these two things, then maybe.. I would consider you to be the winner of my heart."

"Come on, Rachael." He protested.

I know what I had asked for it's a difficult thing to do, seeing as the alpha hates me with every pint of blood in his veins.

But I hate my room, I can't continue staying in that room. No one should have ever been made to stay there. Even the least of the servants, except me, stayed in much better rooms. I deserved somewhere better.

"You know that's impossible." He continued when I didn't say anything to him. "My father will never allow that for sure and you know this. Make another request? One that has the likelihood of being possible."

"Too bad, I thought you really wanted to be alpha. I guess I was wrong." I shrugged, going to sit on my bed and dusting my feet so I could lie down, seeing he was of no use to me.

"I'll do it, Rachael." He declared in frustration.

"That's more like it," I smiled at him. "I knew you had it in you, Jake. I just knew it!"

"When I do, you better keep your promise, Rachael. You better do or you'll regret it." He warned, before turning around and walking out of the room in a hurry.

I guess a new status awaits me, I better get prepared.
