I sat in front of an extremely cold man, he wore a mask half his face, his aura was stiff and so cold that my earlier sad mood seemed to come to a halt.
I fell into a trance, he is fucking handsome, I mean if not for the parts covered with a mask.
This man must be hard to deal with, he had this- Don’t talk to me, I'm dangerous aura.
An assistant came up to me.
“Young Miss Morgan?” His voice filled with inquiry was polite and tactful.
“Yes, I am.” I blinked and stared at the half masked man warily, this man is very dangerous. It’s the first time I’ve encountered a man who oozed a frightening aura.
He nodded without speaking to me again and had his assistant pass me a contract.
This family always acts all high and mighty, and because of them, I’m in this situation.
Getting married was never in my agenda at all. My heart was filled with grievances. My mother only needs me when she is in dire need of help.
I blankly opened the contract in front of me.
I saw the conditions written in the document and bit my lips.
I nearly cried. ‘God give me a break will you?’
No sharing of personal belongings
Abide by all party A rules and regulations.
No meddling in each other's affairs.
Relationships must be kept within the family and people involved, it shouldn’t get to the public.
Party B will not initiate a seductive act, or else a fine will be required.
Party B will always remain a few meters away from party A. Failure to do so will incur consequences.
This contract will be kept a secret between both parties.
Party B will not pester party A.
In public, party A and B are total strangers.
Party A will pay for all party B living expenses.
There will be remuneration in acquiescence to the marriage contract.
No sex
No cheating, (committing adulterous acts).
My eyes literally widened as I looked at the long lists of words written inside the contract and I banged the table hard, standing up. He didn’t even flinch one bit, his expression was stiff all over.
“Am I getting married to a monk? No bodily contact? Is that unavoidable? Given the fact that we will live together, you want us to not go near each other? Mr. McCall, are you in need of a wife or a puppet?” I huffed, my temper rising.
“You only need to sign, your mother already negotiated with my grandfather. Of course, you could back out if you want.” He hasn't moved a muscle on his face apart from his lips opening and closing.
“You are really arrogant, aren’t you?” I glared at him, I clutched my heart, I had trouble controlling my temper.
One of my unlucky attributes is that I lose it if provoked.
Well, I’m not one of those gentle, extremely elegant peacocks who called themselves a high class lady.
“Your temper is one of your greatest downfalls, your patience needs to be trained.” His words were so cold, with a hint of disdain in his tone.
I paused my breath at his words. The big words ‘beauty without brains,’ was vivid, given how he looked at me.
I remembered the words my mother told me before I headed out to meet Mr. McCall.
“If you want to get recognized as a real young miss of the Morgan’s, work towards the goal and make it a reality. Do you think I never cared? If I showed Sharon any less attention, that step father of yours would have kicked us out long ago!!” Her voice was filled with hysteria and frustration. I remembered as she crouched down in despair. Once again, no matter how strong one is, one have to fulfill their obligations.
“Just this once, and I will never be indebted to her.” I muttered, a tear nearly slipping out of my eyes.
I need to be strong, at least for my own good, for Kelvin, and be a better version of myself.
With a heavy laden heart, I signed the document in black and white.
“I am definitely one of the unluckiest people on earth.” I couldn’t help but whisper to myself, as nothing seems to go in my favor.
We drove to the civil bureau and got a certificate, this man couldn’t even smile, his cold gaze would have frozen the cameras.’
I walked out in a daze.
Even in a contract marriage like this, apart from the large money I will earn after it’s over, I felt like I will be exploited. My mood was so down that the man noticed it, but kept silent. The expression of— I don’t care, boldly written over him.
‘God! I even married an iceberg. Who will help me out of this?’
Behind the scenes is a mother who got scammed and is very selfish. A step father who hadn’t even shared a trace of sympathy or remorse with his step daughter. A vicious step sister who won’t miss an opportunity to get rid of me, and a son whom I love dearly.
I really need to get this done with.
My life has been ruined, every pain and discomfort I have endured from those who caused me pain, frustration and my downfall, I will repay them in ten folds!
There was only one car available at the bureau parking lot. As I was about to enter the car, the assistant slammed the door close quickly.
“Madam, I’m sorry, but you can’t use Sir’s car.” He was polite but I wasn’t taking the words lightly.
My eyes grew big, like though I’ve seen one of the seven wonders of the world.
‘I seriously want to slap my bastard husband so, so bad.’ Was this what he also meant by not getting close at all?
I gave a depressed hum and stood aside. The assistant got into the shotgun seat and drove off, the exhaust fumes rushed towards my face.
My face was black and my expression was blank.
I raised my middle fingers at the car. “Fuck your father mr. McCall!!” I looked like one dipped into black dirt.
The car abruptly came to a halt and for no reason my heart raced.
“Don’t tell me he won’t let me criticize him??” I whispered under my breath.
