Chapter 2: What Do You Want Me to Do?

Christopher Anderson is Jessica Turner's uncle, and Daniel Anderson is Christopher Anderson's adopted son. Jessica Turner is nominally their cousin. Since being expelled from the Turner family at the age of ten, Jessica has been living with the Anderson family, under the care of Christopher Anderson, who is not just an uncle but more like a biological father. The Anderson family is Jessica Turner's vulnerability.

As expected, Jessica Turner did not open the door but turned around, looking at him as if he were a monster. Her eyes, once filled with warmth and affection when looking at him, now only showed astonishment and anger.

"Why?" she asked with a trembling voice.

Alexander Smith remained silent for a moment before finally speaking, "Christopher Anderson is to blame. He was the one responsible for my sister's accident years ago."

Jessica Turner took a step back, her back hitting the door, staring at Alexander Smith in disbelief. "You knew all along? Did you approach me just to seek revenge on my uncle?"

Yes, in the beginning, he approached her for revenge against Christopher Anderson. But now...

"Jessica Turner, only if you stay here can they have a way out."

After saying that, Alexander Smith slammed the door and left. He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he might soften.

As Jessica Turner watched the door open and close, she recalled their first encounter. She was nineteen at the time, working as an assistant for her uncle during summer vacation, accompanying him to various business events. At a party, two intoxicated heirs cornered her in the restroom. No one came to her rescue until Alexander Smith appeared, his abyss-like gaze causing the two troublemakers to retreat. He saved her from the fire.

Since then, her gaze would unconsciously follow him, observing his handsome face immersed in the haze of smoke, sometimes inscrutable, sometimes as cold as frost. He was not easy to approach, and his smiles were scarce.

So, when he showed a smile to her, she instantly fell for him, unable to extricate herself. Was it from that moment? Did he begin his revenge plan when he found out she was Christopher Anderson's cherished niece?

Wiping away the coolness on her face, she thought about her gentle uncle and couldn't believe he would hit and run. There must be a misunderstanding.

With determination, she called Daniel Anderson and learned that her uncle had been in the hospital for several days. It was then that she realized she hadn't been home for a long time, not even aware of her uncle falling ill.

Jessica Turner arrived at the hospital at one in the morning. Her uncle was already asleep. She sat by his bedside for a while, and Daniel Anderson also arrived. The two of them went to the end of the corridor and sat on a bench, talking quietly.

Seeing Jessica Turner with swollen eyes, Daniel Anderson felt distressed. Wanting to comfort her like he did in her childhood, he hesitated, fearing he might overstep. He could only gently pat her shoulder and say, "Don't worry, Dad will get better."

After a moment of silence, Jessica Turner suddenly asked, "Daniel, is Uncle's illness related to the company? Is someone intentionally causing trouble for you guys?"

Daniel Anderson was puzzled, "How do you know?" Jessica Turner lowered her voice, tinged with a hint of sobbing, "Is it Alexander Smith?"

Daniel Anderson furrowed his brow, "You know Alexander Smith? What did he tell you?" Jessica Turner shook her head, "Nothing, I heard it from Katherine Carter."

Daniel Anderson sighed in relief, then returned to his usual warmth, "Don't worry; I'll handle the company's affairs."

After a while, Jessica Turner asked again, "Daniel, do you remember what happened ten years ago?"

Daniel Anderson was puzzled, "Why are you suddenly asking about something from ten years ago? What do you want to know?"

"There was a girl who had a car accident ten years ago, and her legs were paralyzed. Some people say it was Uncle who hit her."

Jessica Turner lowered her head, her gaze fixed on her toes, unaware of the fleeting panic and surprise on Daniel Anderson's face.

How did she know about this? Who told her?

Daniel Anderson quickly regained composure, his face still gentle and indifferent as usual, "I don't know about that, but I believe Dad. Why don't you ask him when he wakes up tomorrow?"

Jessica Turner nodded, "That's all I can do."

With his hand clenched in his pocket, Daniel Anderson's eyes flickered with a hint of darkness.

A photo of the two sitting side by side on the bench was taken and quickly sent to Alexander Smith's phone. In the picture, Jessica Turner's eyes were slightly swollen and pitiful. Daniel Anderson looked at her with concentration and—a deep affection.

Yes, affectionate.

As a man, Alexander Smith could easily see the profound emotions hidden in Daniel Anderson's eyes.

Good, very good.

Alexander Smith swiftly sent a text message to Jessica Turner, grabbed his coat, and left. On the other side, as soon as Daniel Anderson asked why she had left the drama group, she received a text message from Alexander Smith. Her face changed slightly; she made up a random excuse and rushed out.

Just as Jessica Turner opened the door of the Galaxy Apartment, she was forcefully pulled in, her back hitting the door panel. Before she could scream, her lips were sealed.

Unlike their usual gentle entanglement, today's Alexander Smith was like a wild beast, crazily plundering and devouring her. Thinking about the baby in her belly, afraid that his madness would harm the child, she could only bite his lower lip with force.

The tangy sweetness of blood brought Alexander Smith back to his senses. He let go of her, taking a step back, and gazed at her with deep eyes. "What's wrong? Don't you like me kissing you? Weren't you clinging to me for a kiss every day before? Or is it because you have someone else now, and you want to protect yourself for him?"

Jessica Turner looked at the man in front of her with tearful eyes. Clearly, he was the man she had loved with all her might, but now he had become unrecognizable.

"Alexander Smith, what do you want to do before you're willing to let go of my uncle?"

"Let go?" Alexander Smith sneered. "My sister was only eight years old when she had the accident. She has spent ten years in a wheelchair, and she's only eighteen. She'll spend her whole life in a wheelchair. Who's letting her go?"

Jessica Turner's heart sank continuously. She knew how much Alexander Smith cared for his sister, and she feared that he would do anything for revenge, even trampling on her sincere feelings.

Jessica Turner closed her eyes, unwilling to think about those supposedly sweet memories. Thinking about them would only make her more heartbroken, feeling like a joke.

"Are you giving up now? I thought you would beg me for Christopher Anderson," Alexander Smith walked into the living room without turning on the lights, sitting directly on the sofa.

"Begging you is useful? Since it's useless, why waste words?" She closed her eyes, not looking at him or the so-called love nest.

Thinking about the photo on his phone and the way Daniel Anderson looked at her, Alexander Smith felt inexplicably annoyed. If they broke up today,

and she walked out that door, there would be no future between them.

Imagining her being embraced by another man, being—with another man—no, he couldn't accept it, couldn't even think about it.

"Jessica Turner, I'll say it again. As long as you stay here, I'll spare Christopher Anderson." Alexander Smith said.

Jessica Turner slowly opened her eyes, locking onto the figure in the dim light. "Do you want me to be your mistress?"
