Chapter 1: The Price Of The Diamond Ring
It was 11' O'clock and the once sunny weather turned into a fleet of dark clouds lightning daring to strike the walls of the old cathedral down
I stood In Front of the altar of the old cathedral my palms sweating unable to meet the gaze of my soon to be husband
"Do you take Luka De Carlo as your lawful husband?" the priest asked staring expectantly at me
Turning my head to face the bored gazes of two men who appeared to be the only witnesses of this so called marriage I fought back tears looking back at the priest
"ye..ye..yes I..I.. do" the words left my throat in a stammer the impact of a punch on the verge of each word
I grip on tightly to the plain white dress I was wearing, it had a v neckline and some pleats that stopped right on my knee it was a 60 dollar dress I had for my 18th birthday 4 years ago and still is the most expensive thing I had in my closet
unlike my betrothed who was dressed in what looked like a customized navy blue Tux that clung to his body fitting him like a second skin
His shoes looked like it could afford my whole life with the way they gleaned at me no doubt mocking me
"Do you Mr luka De Carlo take Miss Giovanni smith as your lawfully wedded wife
"I do" his cold tone turned my insides to ice as he signaled one of the men,He was the youngest among the two with short blonde hair and a similar navy blue Tux to Luka
He came with a small pillow which held both rings
Luka stretched his hand toward the pillow picking up the ring with the diamond on it
Stretching his hand to mine I hesitated, the feel of his eyes on me caused me to place my hands in his in fear of the consequences
He took my palms in his and small waves of electricity shot through my body like shock waves,He fixed the ring into my middle finger
The ring was simply the most magnificent and beautiful thing I had ever seen
it looked too expensive against the cheap outfit I had on it could possibly worth millions and millions of dollars the diamond almost as big as the medium sized thrift hoop earrings I had on
Dropping my hands from his, my fingers shook as I reached for the pillow carefully taking out the ring meant for him it had tiny diamonds round it the same color as mine so I assumed it was a set
I reached for his hand trying to avoid contact as much as possible
my hands still sweaty and shaky I sorted Gus middle finger try to fix the ring when it slipped from my hands and rolled from the altar toward the seats way behind us disappearing out of sight
"I..I...I'm sorry I ...did.. didn't"
I say fidgeting with my hands biting on my tongue feeling the metallic taste of my blood
In my mouth
"Albert " He said adjusting his tie staring at me like I was the filth underneath his shoe
"on it sir" the way older man who I made out to be his driver scurried toward the direction the ring had rolled towards hurrying back with the ring in a dash of seconds
I took it gently careful not to drop it again ad I placed it on his middle finger
"you may kiss your bride"
Staring up at him through glass eyes for the first time today I watched as he progressed closer to me bending down because of the massive height difference
probably noticing how shaky I was his lips diverted and kissed me just below my ear darting away from me like I burned him leaving a blaze of heat in his wake
"I now pronounce you husband and wife "the priest said
with a cort nod towards Albert him and who he called Leo marched out of the cathedral
"let's go Miss" Albert said to me gently ushering me down the steps he was a much older man his hair had already turned fairly gray
Speechless and unable to process what had just happened I place my hand into his awaiting one and we exited the cathedral into the black limousine waiting just In Front of the cathedral
Unable to help my self I say "where has he gone" I utter turning towards him as he opened the door to the car for me
"I do not know miss" he says closing the door after ensuring I was inside completely turning around and getting into the driver's seat and starting the car
in no longer than 15 minutes we had arrived at a huge mansion and my mouth hung loose from the pure luxury of it
This was going to be my home ?
I was going to live here
when the car stopped I helped myself down before Albert had a chance to get to my door craning my neck as I looked around
Sighing quietly Albert looked towards me with what looked like pity in his eyes "This way miss" he said leading me to the front door before gently pushing it open and leading towards a flight of stairs
The house was massive it had at least four chandeliers hanging from all corners of the living room with furniture dotted in golden accessories I had never in my life seen that much gold it was truly breathtaking
"sorry for the slight inconvenience miss the elevator is currently out of service but it shou6be up and running before sundown" he said still leading me up the stairs
The place had an elevator?
Finally arriving at a white door he scanned for what looked like a key in his pockets and gently placed it into the lock with the sound of a satisfying click and the door opened
"I will leave you now if you need anything do not hesitate to call for me "
and he was gone
stepping into the room without even giving it a second glance I leaped unto the king sized bed bawling my eyes out as all the tears from everything that happened in the last 48 hours poured into the pillow
I was married to the most dangerous man on the planet!
