Alcohol is what we call the devil's pee, we have been calling it that way from the day we tried it for the first time at our first party three years ago.As I watch her walk away as she tried to pass through the gathering of drunk teenagers, I awkwardly stood still...Gosh the music is so loud. The light are dim and instead of the normal ones they were blue and some other interesting color light.
Oh sh*t..sorry , someone bumps into me and spill a drink on my dress, I gasp in disbelief as anger filled my senses
"What the hell!" I lashed out angirly and a few people started at me. This can't be happening to me,the very first time I decided to wear the dress my mom got for me. I tried to save my dress by wiping out the unknown liquid that spilled on it as I someone from the crowd handed me a tissue.
"Are you blind that you cannot see where you are ...I began to stop paying attention to my dress and to look up at the figure who spilled the liquid on my dress . To my outermost surprise it was Alex Riley, the Alpha but with my worst nightmare Ann
Holy sh*t
As soon as our eyes met it's like something magical happened. That's the only perfect description for it. His eyes were so vivid and deep and it felt like I could get lost in them forever. I knew I have always had a crush on Alex, but what I feel right now was stronger than i ever imagined.
"I'm so sorry" he apologized as he tried to wipe the stain with his hands
" I would be in the pool at the backyard" Ann said as she excuses herself and Alex nods not giving her attention. She looked so furious because Alex was talking to me. This is the first time I can actually feel his aura and his perfect cologne not to talk of him talking to me. Well, it feels unreal, almost too good to be true
"Please, come with me to kitchen so I can get you cleaned up"he said as i nodded slowly trying to remove my gaze but he caught me staring and j felt embarrassed. He reaches for my hand and lead me to crowd walking towards the kitchen. When we got to the kitchen, he removed his shirt and placed under the faucets wetting it slightly and this made my breath to hitch.
I cannot stop staring at his body, he is breathtakingly hot
"May I?" He asked for permission to clean up my dress, but I gently disagree. My throat is like sandpaper right now ,so dry. My emotions are all over the place and I don't know what I would do if he comes any closer to me.
"No..let me". I reply to him softly and he gives me his slightly drenched shirt as he shrugs. It smells just like him, amazingly good. As I use his shirt to clean up my dress, he stares at me with a huge smile.
"What's your name?" He asks his voice sounds so pleasant and manly. A lot of other people are also in the kitchen but they all seem to be minding their businesses. There is even a girl puking on the floor a few feet away from from us; just another typical party here in this town, I guess
"Sophie" I called out
"Well I'm Alex Riley and it's a pleasure to meet you. He says as I hand him back his shirt. In the process, his hand lightly rubbed against mine and I inhale sharply
"I know who you are" I concurred shyly, causing him to raise his eyebrow In interest of what am I have to say next " everyone knows you...you are the Alpha. all the girl want to mate with you and not because you are an Alpha" i added and this tike he laughed while his face gets flushed.
I like it whenever he laughs, it makes my heart dance in glee. His jet black hair is sleeked down and his lips looks soft as a cloud. His jeans hangs dangerously low on his waist and his abs bulge out subtly as we talk.
"I am going to say something to you..do your possible best not to freak out , okay?" He stepped closer to me and I try to keep my cool. It is pretty hard to focus when my crush is standing shirtless right in front of me and I dare to even say he was flirting.
"Where is Laura?I am so go to kill that girl for leaving me alone though I like it here and I'm not complaining.
"Um...sure" I replied him nervously as I run my hand through my hair. He stares at me as I do this and I watch him back
"So...I...I think you are my mate" As soon as those words left his mouth, my eyes widen in disbelief and I stammered "ex....ex..excuse me?"I try to get him to say it again probably I didn't hear him the first time
"Sophie, I think you're my mate" he said as he reaches for my hand
The moment of our hands touched each other, we got abruptly interrupted by a group of friends
"Alex, man!we have been looking everywhere for you!what are you doing here in the kitchen..." The blonde attractive guy spoke and stopped as he saw me
"Ohhh"he drags the word and I fight the urge to roll my eyes . I pull my hand from Alex's hand as quickly as I can and I folded my arms on my chest.
"Leave Alex alone, Jamie. The man is trying to find his mate!". Another one of his friends said as he wiggled his eyebrows and held Alex's shoulders.
"Sophie! I heard someone call my name and I turned around to check the figure. It's my sister, Imelda. She's wearing a very short denim and a tank top, isn't she cold?. I gladly excused myself from Alex and his group of friends. He tried to stop me from leaving but his friends didn't give him the chance to. I walked out of the kitchen and walked towards Imelda
"When did you start coming to parties?" She hugged excitingly and I hugged her back
"Um...I have been to a lot of parties"I defended myself and we both laughed
"I'm not a stranger, remember? We actually live in the same house and we happen to be sisters at that, so I know my sister too well" she said and we both laughed again
The both of us walked away from the kitchen area and towards the large living room. The music was so loud so we have to speak loudly or we won't be able to hear each other.
"Whatever" I rolled my eyes playfully
"Where's Laura?" She asked a question I wish I knew the answer to it
" I don't know , we came to the party together d she went to get us drinks but didn't come back" I informed Imelda and she glares at me in response
"Non-alcoholic drinks" I clarified and she smiled
"You look nice" she complimented me. The music was suddenly changes to an upbeat one that I know, it's Imelda's favorite song. She began to dance and I revealed my teeth by smiling
"And you look like you're catching cold" I said back loudly
"Come on ...dance with me" she suggested and I gave in
We both danced to the song and soon Laura joined us
"Where the hell have you been" I try to speak above the music
"So when I went to get our drinks, I met a cute girl that was super interested in me" she replied me as she gave me a wink. She does not need to give me any information, I can already guess what happened after and I have no problem with that as long as she enjoyed herself.
"I need to tell you guys something" I said loudly
I keep hearing Alex's words in my head; I THINK YOU'RE MY MATE"and I can't let it go away . I need to tell someone or I'm going to explode on the Inside
" Go ahead" Laura replied and Imelda stopped dancing
" I met Alex Riley" I confessed and Laura screamed in excitement causing me to laugh loudly
"You have a crush on him right? Zoe inquires and I nodded
"He told me that I'm his mate" I told them and Laura scoffed in disbelief
"Sophie, this isn't time for pranks" she responded " oh...sh*t, you are serious" she exclaimed as she noticed my straight face
"Of course I am," I replied
"When did he tell you this ,Sophie?" Imelda asked me , her tone is cautious
" Just before you found me in the kitchen" I told her and her eyes widen slight
"What"she cusses as if something is wrong
"Imelda...I think this is a good news" Laura said to her with a small chuckle and I nodded. I'm confused, why is she acting like I just killed someone? This is literally a dream come true for me. She strokes her hair In frustration and I waited for her to say something.
"Sophie...have you ever shifted before?" She asked and my wrinkles in confusion
"No...but what does my shifting into a werewolf have to do with Alex and me? I asked her feeling a little offended. She knows that I don't like to talk about this. I am a 16 years old she wolf and all the girls my age have already shifted into their wolves while I cannot. It makes me feel like I am broken
"It has everything to do with it plus you are just an omega" she laughed humorously." He's going to reject you and you will have to accept the rejection" she said to me. Her words feely like I have just been hit by a truck. My heart is breathing so fast for some reason
" I don't understand" Laura said my exact thoughts
"So he's going to reject me because I can't shift? I know I just met him but I don't think Alex is that vain, he won't ?" I said to her with all the confidence I could muster up
" It's not him, it's his father! Alex may want to spend the rest of his life with you but he does not have the luxury of choosing to. He is an Alpha and the most impressive werewolf in this town, his father expects him to mate with someone as impressive as him" Imelda explained
I can't find the words to speak. What was I thinking? She's right I'm just a commoner and someone who can't even shift to wolf yet
"But..." Laura stutters
"You would have to accept the rejection" Imelda said as she pulled me into her arms for a hug. Tears rolled down my eyes and I tried to find a way to argue with what she is saying but I cannot
"silver and werewolves are incompatible, Sophie, they can't work" she whispers into my ears and I stop trying to hold in my tears
"So I can be with Alex because I can shift into a wolf"
"I'm so sorry Sophie...like I said it's not Alex's fault, I'm sure he's going to accept you the way you are but his wouldn't and if he father doesn't want you , you will have to accept rejection " Imelda said slowly as she tried to console me and helping me hold back my tears.
"Sophie leaned forward, her eyes curious, and asked Laura, "Can you explain why silver and werewolves are incompatible?"
Laura took a moment, gathering her thoughts before beginning her tale.
"Well, Sophie," Laura started, "In the world of myths and legends, werewolves are powerful creatures of both man and beast. But like all creatures, they have their vulnerabilities. One of the most famous of these weaknesses is silver."
She continued, "To a werewolf, silver isn't just a precious metal. It's something that can harm them. Legends say that silver bullets can pierce their tough hides, silver chains can bind them, and even a simple silver dagger can wound them grievously."
Laura paused, letting the gravity of her words sink in. "The incompatibility between silver and werewolves isn't just physical. There's a deeper, almost magical conflict between the two. It's as if the very essence of silver clashes with the supernatural nature of the werewolves, creating a barrier they cannot cross."
Sophie nodded, absorbing the story. "So, silver is like their kryptonite?"
Laura smiled, "Exactly, Sophie. In a way, silver becomes humanity's defense against these powerful creatures, reminding us that even the most fearsome beings have their weaknesses, their own incompatibilities, waiting to be discovered."
Sophie, intrigued by Laura's storytelling, tilted her head slightly and asked, "Where did you get this idea from?"
Laura smiled, her eyes sparkling with a hint of nostalgia. "I got it from my dad," she replied. "He used to tell me bedtime stories filled with myths and legends when I was younger. The tale of the incompatibility between silver and werewolves was one of my favorites."
"It's amazing," Sophie said, "how stories can be passed down through generations and still capture our imagination."
Laura nodded, "Absolutely, Sophie. Stories have a way of connecting us to the past, teaching us lessons, and sparking our imagination. They remind us of the mysteries and wonders that exist in the world, waiting to be explored."
Imelda looked at Sophie with a mixture of concern and understanding, "Sophie, how did you not know that werewolves hate silver? Even if you can't shift, it's basic knowledge among our kind."
Sophie looked down, a bit embarrassed, "Imelda, I've always had trouble shifting. It's been a challenge for me, and I've been so focused on trying to understand why I can't transform like others that I haven't really delved into our traditional lore."
Imelda nodded sympathetically, "I understand, Sophie. We all have our challenges and struggles as werewolves. But knowing our history, strengths, and weaknesses is important for all of us, whether we can shift or not."
Sophie agreed, "You're right, Imelda. I need to make an effort to learn more about our legends and folklore. It's important knowledge that I shouldn't overlook, even if I can't shift like other werewolves."
Imelda gave Sophie a supportive look, "Sophie, if you're aiming to be a perfect mate for Alex Riley, it might be helpful for you to focus on mastering your transformation. It's an essential part of our werewolf nature and understanding our kind."
Sophie nodded, determination glinting in her eyes, "You're right, Imelda. I've been avoiding it for too long. I need to make a concerted effort to understand and control my transformations. It's not just about being a better werewolf, but also about connecting more deeply with Alex and our shared heritage."
Imelda smiled encouragingly, "Exactly, Sophie. Embracing who you are as a werewolf, including understanding our strengths, weaknesses, and traditions, will not only strengthen your bond with Alex but it will help you grow as an individual"
