TWIST OF FATE..

Chapter 5

TWIST OF FATE.

EMILY,

That morning, exhausted by everything that had happened, I muttered inaudibly as I lay in my bed, unsure what to do. It had been a difficult few days, and I was at a loss for what to do, so I scrounged through my phone for possible job advertisements. My phone beeped all of a sudden. I asked, "Who was messaging?" as I opened the message to see what it was about.

It was the hospital. They were threatening to stop treatments if I didn't come up with the money to pay the hospital bills.

I sighed deeply as I stared at the message not knowing what else to do; I did not have any money, and if Ryan had not paid my rent, I would have been homeless. Still undecided about what to do, I came across a job posting on Craigslist. It was an acting role that paid a reasonable amount of money. The audition was scheduled for later that afternoon, so I decided to go for it. Besides, there was nothing to lose.

I took a bath, put on some makeup, and prepared for the audition. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, my thoughts turned to my mother. I was a perfect replica of her. As I thought about her, tears welled up in my eyes. It hurt to know that, even in death, I could not give her the best. But what could I do? I did not have any money, or anything else.

" This should do!! " I muttered to myself as I looked in the mirror before leaving for the audition. Even though I had not received a response to my application, I planned to go anyway.

" Besides, what was the worst that could happen?" I would apply for a lot of jobs without getting any positive response and one more would not hurt.

Since I was already worn out from looking for a job and needed to find something to help pay for my mother's treatments. I decided to give it a shot, even though I had no idea what the role would be or if I would be accepted.

I recall doing some acting in a school play when I was younger. Back then, I was a talented actress. "Was I one now?"I was not sure, but if I did not try, I would not know, would I?

I left the house and took a taxi to the venue, where I met a number of applicants.

"Did I stand a chance?" I wondered as I stared at the number of applicants applying for the role. "What if you were not hired? What would happen to my mother's body then?" I swiftly dismissed the idea that flashed into my head.

" Who would not want to hire me?" I inquired as I stared at my face; my make-up appeared to be appropriate, and I appeared to be quite attractive.

I had a short-sleeved blue colored shirt on with some black pants. With my polished appearance and unwavering confidence, I believed I would land the job praying no one knew about the scandal here.

Soon, the audition began, and numerous applicants were interviewed. When I looked around, it appeared that everyone had gone for the audition, leaving me as the only one left. I did not hear my name being called, but I decided to take my chances, so I went in anyway.

As I walked into the audition room, I could feel a combination of nervousness and excitement rising within me.

"What is your name?" one of the judges asked, turning to ask the other judges. "I thought we were done with everyone?" I stuttered, but eventually gained confidence and told him who I was.

"I am Emily Ferdinand." I replied. " Your name is not here." He said again, flipping the papers, "Yes, I applied this morning and when I noticed I was not called, I decided to come in and take a chance.

The judge looked at me skeptically, clearly not convinced. But I held my ground, determined to make an impression. "I know my name wasn't called, but I believe in taking chances. And sometimes, it's the unexpected choices that lead to greatness," I said confidently.

The judge raised an eyebrow clearly intrigued by my audacity, "Well then, Emily Fredinard," he said with a hint of amusement in his voice.

" We are looking for individuals who are willing to go beyond the norms. Show us what you have got."

The casting director, a stern looking young man behind a desk. He glanced at me briefly before motioning for me to begin.

Ignoring their confusion and possible disapproval, I took a deep breath and started reciting my monologue. With each word that left my lips, I felt myself becoming more immersed in the character's emotions. It was as if I had stepped into another world entirely - one filled with passion and intensity.

The casting director watched intently as I performed, his expression slowly softening. When I finished, there was a moment of silence before he broke into applause.

"Bravo! That was incredible," he exclaimed with genuine enthusiasm. "You have such raw talent."

" Davis, I think we got the one." He said to the other judge, who acted indifferent. Suddenly, my gaze thrifted to the other judge and I recognized who he was, the judge happened to be the stranger that had helped me countless times.

A surge of hope washed over me as those words sank in. Maybe this was the breakthrough I needed - not just for financial reasons, but also to prove to myself that there was something more waiting for me beyond all the hardships.

When the audition was over, and I was waiting for the results, I noticed the stranger who happened to be one of the judges standing there scrolling through his phone at one corner of the venue.

Surprised as I was, I went over to say hello and thank him for the last time. He was near the exit with that same enigmatic aura surrounding him. It felt like destiny had brought us together once again. With a grateful smile on my face, I approached him to express how much his help meant to me.

Just in he received a call and left before I could reach him. I wanted to call him, but I decided it would not be a good idea.

Finally, it was time for the results and I got the role. I was excited, and soon the scripts were handed over to me. "You are starting now." The casting editor said to me as he handed the scripts over.

As I read through the script, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The story was filled with twists and turns, romance and suspense. It was unlike anything I had ever read before. The character I would be portraying was complex and intriguing, with layers of depth that challenged my acting skills. But I was ready for the challenge. This role could be my ticket to success, not just in terms of money, but also in fulfilling my passion for performing.

The excitement grew inside me, and I could hardly wait to start filming. Only that it wasn't a film, it was acting to fool someone. I was sure I was comfortable with the role, but I needed the money, so I didn't care.

" It's not a movie, there is no filming, but you have to act." The casting editor, who was Max, said to me when I inquired about the scene in the script.

I had no idea who the guy I was supposed to act as his wife was, and I was told I would find out soon. Mex said he had to leave early, so I had to go meet him, but first I needed to do my hair and change clothes.

My clothes seemed fine to me, but I knew better than to argue over anything.

I got into the car, and one of the judges, Max, drove me to a salon to get my hair done, and then we got some clothes.

The reflection in the mirror no longer looked like me. As I sat there, with my newly styled hair and fitted clothes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of transformation. It was as if this acting role had awakened a hidden part of myself that I never knew existed.

Finally, we arrived at a mansion, where Max introduced me to my proposed husband.

You??? I yelled out, surprised.

Shocked beyond words, I stared at the man standing before me - my proposed husband for this acting role. It was none other than the stranger who had always been there when I needed help, guiding me through difficult times without asking for anything in return. The universe certainly had a strange way of bringing people together. As we exchanged glances, a spark ignited within me and I knew deep down that this role was not going to be as easy as I thought.

" Is she the one?" An elderly woman came out the door to meet us, beaming radiantly with smiles as she pointed at me.
