Prologue: Ashley Brooks
Anyone in my position would think I was crazy for complaining about my life. In reality, I may be but no one will really understand unless they go through the same thing. Ashley Brooks was the name I was given by my father who's the leader of one of the most feared gangs. Life as the daughter of a gang leader may not be as exciting as it sounds. I can barely ever take a step without bodyguards checking if I had somehow managed to sprain my ankle by walking.
By the time I was fifteen, I was getting tired of having multiple bodyguards tailing me everywhere I go. Thankfully, my father had reconsidered his decision and assigned a personal bodyguard instead. Not completely a fix but it's an improvement. A very sexy improvement.
My personal bodyguard was none other than my childhood friend that I grew up with, Blake Ryder. Yes, he's an eye-candy but sometimes he can be a little too over-protective but that doesn't seem to be a problem to my father and the rest of his gang.
Having a personal bodyguard might sound fun but there is a twist to it that I have never approved of. Unfortunately, there's only so much I can ask for before my father snaps. When I get hurt in any way, Blake gets twice the impact. I try my best to be careful but how careful can you be if you're in the school's netball team.
Everything was normal until one day, when the past comes haunting.
