Chapter 5 Be my plus one

Emerald watched as Williams car drove off, she exhaled like she has been holding her breath for a long time.She walked into the house and met Maddie.

“Wow, look who’s back from paradise” Maddie joked

“Don’t even start” Emerald said to her as she climbed to her room

“You know I’m rooting for you always. So how was the date?” Maddie asked like a child waiting for sweets.

“Not bad” Emerald replied

“Just that? Not bad??, c’mon Emme talk to me. What did you and Mr handsome do today”

“ we just had a few drinks, nothing more” Emerald replied

“But your face… it’s all red like you’ve been blushing or something “ Maddie teased

“Stop!!” Emerald retorted

Just then her phone buzzed, a text, from “mr Williams !??” Emerald said wide eyed

“Oh my gosh girl, you exchanged numbers !?. What are you not telling me, spill the tea already”

“He asked for my phone number” Emerald shrugged

“And???” Maddie asked, anticipating.

“You’re so dumb Maddie, I gave it to him of course”

“So what is the text about ?” Maddie asked

They both stared at the phone

{Williams text}

~hi, it’s Williams, I would like you to be my plus one for a birthday party next weekend. I’ll text you the date ~

“Who does he think he is ? , isn’t he supposed to say please?? Who does he think he’s commanding?”

“Chill babes, it’s not a big deal, he isn’t even commanding you, he’s asking nicely”

Emerald glared at Maddie

"I am trying to get away from this man Maddie, don't you get it?" Emerald tried to explain

“You know what ? Whatever. You’re gonna go to that party and I’m gonna help you glam up “ Maddie said in an exciting manner

Emerald rolled her eyes and walked away.

“Williams, why haven’t you brought your fiancé to come see me ?”

“Forgive me father, I’ve been really busy with work lately”

“Hmm” Williams father, Antonio sighed. He’s an old man in his 70’s but he still looks fit and sound

“How has work been lately “ Antonio asked his son

“ rough. But I’m taking care of it” Williams replied

“Set up a date for me to meet your fiancé” his father said

“Father, I don’t think it’s a good idea to rush things. I’ll set up the date when she’s comfortable enough to come”

“You better do that and do it fast. You’re not getting any younger. I want a grandchild as soon as possible”

“Yes father” Williams replied

Williams got up and was about to walk away when Antonio called him back.

“My son”

Williams turned to him and answered

“Yes father”

“I’m glad you want to get married, I didn’t think you’d ever get married after your mother…”

“It’s okay father” Williams replied “ just have your rest and call me when you need anything”

Williams walked out.

He doesn’t like to entertain that conversation.

Williams mother died when he was 18. A very tragic story, a fatal accident that claimed the life of his poor mom. Williams became so cold after that. No friends, no relationship, no love .Now he’s 31

He came across a girl one day….

His phone was stolen by some pick pocket, this girl chased down this thief and raised an alarm. The thief got caught by passersby.

She brought his phone back to him with a smile and said

“ here’s your phone mister”

It was love at first sight. So he believed . He wanted this girl for himself and now he’s planning to marry her but she doesn’t even remember their first encounter.

Her accident messed with her memories. He didn’t want it to look like he wants her for his selfish needs , he wanted to take things slow and steady but he also wanted to rush the wedding.

Williams sat on the couch reminiscing that day’s encounter

The way she sparked up when he asked for her number.

He smiled, he likes the way she stands up for herself, she’s kind but doesn’t allow herself to get trampled on.

This made Williams even more eager to get to know her

He got up from the couch and walked into his study. He sat on a chair and opened his laptop to work.

His eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the laptop screen.

Williams has enemies all over the world because M&U is topping charts and also topping the business world.

Different businessmen try to do business with him just to get acquainted with M&U.

His enemies are everywhere and they are on the move trying to bring him down but Williams is never fazed by all these things. He has a solid ground and he'll fight to protect everything he has built.

The ray of sunlight from the window kissed Emeralds face as she yawns

. She opened her eyes and was ready to get out of bed when she noticed something. A blood stain on her bedsheet.

"Ugh, I hate this time of the month”. she got up to go shower, suddenly the pain hit her, she started feeling sick all of a sudden.

“Jeez, you never miss a chance, do you?. You damned cramps” She cursed as she found her way to the bathroom.

Emerald was feeling like a mess. No amount of showering could make her feel clean. She angrily walked out of the bathroom to look for a sanitary pad. She changed her bedsheet and was ready to go downstairs for breakfast when her phone suddenly buzzed.

A text from Williams came in

“Just when I thought my day couldn’t get any worse”

{Williams text}

Williams : hi, good morning

Emerald : hi, good morning to you too

Williams : oh you replied

Emerald : what , I shouldn’t have ?

Williams : you ignored me yesterday

Emerald : why are you even texting me ?

Williams : is it a crime to text my fiancé?

Emerald: I am not your fiancé

Williams : well we’ll be getting married soon What does that make you ?

Emerald did not reply for the next five minutes. “Piece of trash, ruining my day even more” she muttered angrily to herself. Just then, her phone started ringing.

Williams was calling.
