Chapter 5

Saturday- 9:33am

Shaun wasn’t as nauseous as she had been the week prior. As gross as it sounded, blood made her feel better. It had been over a week since Shaun found out that she was pregnant. Her stomach had swollen to twenty-five centimetres in the past seven days and that worried her. It was unlike normal pregnancies and she had read online that it took two weeks for the pregnancy test to show positive for pregnancy. Shaun told Bria to cancel the medical appointment, telling her that she felt okay, when in reality she was afraid to tell her best friend that the pregnancy test showed positive.

"Aren't you just glowing!" Shaun's aunt, Andrene smiled as she gave her niece a bear hug. She was going to spend the weekend and though she was Shaun's favourite aunt, she was not looking forward to having her aunt there. Mainly because her aunt was a certified midwife and it would be really hard to hide her pregnancy from her.

Shaun was already prepared. She was wearing Liam's sweater with shorts and a leather jacket. She also bought clothes that were three sizes big with her allowance but she couldn't hide her "glowing face."

"Nice to see you too, aunty." Shaun said, "I missed you."

"I missed you more." Andrene said moving her red hair from her face, "Are you okay, though?" She asked glancing at Shaun. She was gazing at Shaun when Lauren quickly came outside and hugged her baby sister.

"I thought we agreed to pick you up at the airport," Lauren stated.

"Oh you know me, sis, I don't like to be dependent on anyone." She replied snickering. She then pulled her sister to one side.

"Is everything okay with Shaun?" Andrene asked. Lauren stared at her sister in confusion. "She seems sick." She continued.

"She just had something that did not agree with her stomach at a party." Lauren retorted quickly. Andrene nodded. She questioned the matter no further and went inside.

"Thanks for coming gentlemen." William Novak said flashing his pearly white fangs. Some of the wives winked at him and he winked back when the husbands weren't looking. Just like the other Novak male generations, he was ridiculously handsome with perfect hair and charming ways. Ways that were so charming it would tempt the most faithful wife to come away with him but being an unborn vampire, he was not always as benign or sweet. His anger most times got the best of him.

"Jared," William said clearing his throat, "May I see you for a moment please." Jared nodded as his uncle led him downstairs to his office.

"I picked up a scent..." William started.

Jared gesticulated, prompting his uncle. Perhaps he was going to tell him about someone moving in the town with his favourite type of blood. Lately, there's been a shortage of AB positive blood type.

"Human..." William said as his forehead puckered.

Jared eyes rolled skyward, “Uncle, C'mon." Jared grunting, "I'm starving, I really don't have the time. This is irritating. It's like I'm tempted to kill."

"I don't think you would be interested in killing this being, Jared," William spoke up.

"And why ever not uncle?" he replied rolling his eyes.

"Because this being is also yours."
