Chapter Four
Dylan DiMaggio
The car highlighted and I got down, staring at the estate. I had just gotten back from one of my meetings. Everything was silent as usual but today's own for stark silent.
I couldn't even hear a whisper at all.
One of my guards, a burly man with blood smeared across his temple, staggered toward me the moment I stepped inside.
“Sir,” the guard rasped, his voice heavy with alertness. “There’s an intruder inside. He took down some of the men and they’re unconscious. He’s with your wife now.”
My body got tensed instantly, my blood boiling as his words came through me. Jaun?
My Jaun was in danger.
“Who?” I demanded, his voice cold and firm.
“We’re not sure, sir,” the guard stated, his face turning pale as I stared at him.
I didn't waste time as I couldn't hold on to my anger anymore, I stormed through the stairs to the hall.
Whoever dared to enter my home, harm my men, and approach Jaun would pay dearly.
As I approached her room, I heard muffled voices and I slowed my pace. Pressing myself against the wall to eavesdrop on their words.
“Matthew, please,” Jaun’s voice pleaded, very low and desperate. “You need to leave. You’re making this worse.”
Matthew?
My jaw tightened just at the thought of that name. Of course, it had to be the ex -fiance. The pitiful, lovesick man who still clung to a woman who no longer belonged to him. Really playing with fire.
My lips curled up in disgust as I listened further to their silly talks.
“You don't understand, Jaun,” Matthew hissed. “I can't just leave you here. You're my fiancee. You are mine first! Your family gave you a hand. This relationship lasted for 5 years, Juan. For 5 years we have stuck together and you think I will just let you be?” Has he said that, a sweet smile broke my lips, afterall, that's what I have always wanted.
To steal someone's life.
Jaun’s voice softened, almost breaking into an emotional disaster. “I didn't choose this, Matthew. I am not in hand with this. We could plan something out together and then get out of here to somewhere he wouldn't find out about but don't do this now. You have to understand, I am trying to protect you. If Dylan finds you here….”
It started to irritate me. Her words. It wasn't filled with disgust for Matthew; it was filled with fear. Fear that she didn't want to lose him and she still cared for him.
I didn't like it. Not at all.
I clenched my fist, forcing myself to stay silent as they continued with their conversation.
“I’m not afraid of him,” Matthew growled and a devilish smirk appeared on my face. “He’s just a thug with money. I’ll take you away from this, Jaun. We’ll run.”
I waited to hear Jaun's response but I couldn't, and the next words I heard was a loud piercing cry across the room which did not mistakenly sound like Jaun. I didn't know why my chest banged hard, but it was my property.
And it was being toyed with.
Before I could think twice, I threw my hand against the door and it cracked open with force, opening and revealing his doing.
Matthew had Jaun pinned to the wall, his hands on her throat. Her face was red and it was obvious she was suffocating.
“Let her go,” I growled, my voice like a thunder
Both Jaun and Matthew turned towards me, but he still didn't loosen grip.
“You,” Matthew spat, his eyes blazing with hate.
Without another word, he charged at me, abandoning Jaun to lunge at me with reckless behaviour.
But then I was ready. I sidestepped the attack with ease and punched him right to his face. The crack of bone echoed through the room as he crumpled to the floor, unconscious causing Jaun's eyes to widen.
She gasped, her hands flying to her throat as she stumbled back. But I didn't look at her. I had all my focus entirely on the pathetic man lying at my feet.
“Guards!” I barked, my voice cutting through the heavy silence.
Two men appeared almost instantly, their faces hard as they scanned the scene.
“Take him to the torture room,” I ordered, my voice cold and final. “Make sure he’s restrained.”
Jaun raised her brows at me, tears rolling down her eyes immediately. “No! Dylan, please don't do this!”
She pleaded, throwing herself at me as her hand gripped my arm tightly. “Please, don't hurt him. He didn't mean it. He…he was just desperate. Let him go.”
My eyes blazed with anger as I shook her off without a second thought. “He messed with someone he shouldn't have.”
The guards dragged Matthew's unconscious body from the room as I heard Jaun's tears and her pleas fell on deaf ears to me.
I turned and started to walk away, but then she was never a give up person, she ran after me instead.
“Dylan, please! I’m begging you,” she cried, her voice cracking. “You don’t have to do this. He’s not a threat to you!”
I didn’t stop. When they reached the entrance to the basement, I turned to one of my men. “Take her back to her room and lock the door.”
“No!” She screamed, clinging to me. “Don’t do this. Please, Dylan!”
I grabbed her wrists instead and rugged her hands off mine, with a cold gaze. “Stay out of this, Bella. This isn’t your concern anymore. If you would rather come along to watch him die.”
She sank to her knees, her sobs echoing in the hallway as I entered through the basement but I didn't turn back.
Not now, not ever a thing to do.
---
I stepped in the dark room, a scornful laugh appearing on my lips. Matthew was strapped to a chair in the center, his head rolling to the side as he regained consciousness.
Blood trickled from his nose and his splitted lips, his face already swollen from the earlier punch.
“You came into my house, attacked my men, and threatened my wife. Did you think there would be no consequences?” I asked in a low and menacing voice as I approached him.
He glared at me through bloodshot eyes, and despite his splitted lips he still had time to reply. “She doesn't love you. She will never love you.”
My lips curled up into a cruel smile. “Love is irrelevant. She's mine. With or without love. Love is sickening and bullshit.” I went on and on, grabbing a nearby tool, a heavy metal, and I swung it against his ribs, earning a loud painful groan from him.
“I told you to stay away,”I said, my voice calm even as I delivered another blow to him. “But you didn't listen. So now, I am going to make sure you never forget who you're dealing with.” I sneered, punching him harder across his face. Blood stained the floor, and Matthew's screams echoed through the dark room.
I remained expressionless, cold and annoyed. I could hear Jaun's cry up the stairs but I didn't stop. It was a message to anyone who thought they could challenge me.
When I was done with him, I pulled out my gun, pressing it against Matthew's forehead. “Next time, when you come into your next life,”I said, my voice quiet but deadly, “remember this moment. Remember what happens when you cross Dylan "Dynamo" DiMaggio.”
But as I was about to turn it on, Jaun's voice cut through the door, running towards him.
“Dylan, no! Don't do this. Are you really going to kill him? Can't you be pitiful for once? I am begging you, don't kill him. Be merciful for this once.” She cried out and I shook my head.
“Now, someone is telling me how to rule, in my own domain? You tell me how to be? You think that would bring something out in me? You are a joke.”
I raised the gun towards Matthew who couldn't even utter a word and as I shot, a figure ran across me, hugging Matthew and taking the gunshot.
Jaun.
