Chapter 01
I loved Simon so obsessively that I coerced him into marrying me. During the wedding, the officiant asked Simon to declare his love.
He did, shouting, "I love you, Rose." It made everyone burst into laughter because my name was Jasmine.
I knew he was fond of his half-sister, Rose, but it didn't bother me.
Lifting my skirt, I slowly walked up to Simon and asked, "Tell me. Who do you love?"
His fingers curled nervously as he said, "I...I love you, Jasmine."
I extended my hand towards him, smiling broadly. "Put the ring on for me, dear."
Everyone, including Simon, breathed a sigh of relief.
The wedding ceremony went on as usual, everyone cheerful as if the earlier mishap had been forgotten.
While toasting with Simon, I followed his gaze and asked, "Honey, what are you looking at?"
There, in the middle of the hall, stood Rose in a white dress.
She approached Simon, her expression sorrowful, and declared, "I'm pregnant, two months along."
Two months.
That must have happened before she went abroad.
Simon stared at Rose in shock, his mother fainting and needing support.
Everyone present knew better than to provoke me or the Tucker family.
After all, I was the sole heir to the Tucker family as well as the Tucker Group.
Suddenly, Simon's father slapped him hard.
My father hurried over, looking at Rose with disappointment. "Weren't you supposed to stay abroad? Why did you come back?"
I faced Simon incredulously. "Did you sleep with her before she went abroad?"
"I didn't."
Rose snatched the wine glass from my hand and splashed the wine onto my face.
She knocked over a table full of dishes, shouting at me with hatred, "You crazy bitch! Use your usual tricks on me! I’m not afraid of you!"
I stood motionless.
Simon and my father both rushed over, standing in front of Rose, and pleading with me, "Jasmine... Don't be angry. She didn't mean it."
She didn't mean it?
My father had married into the family and had a daughter a year older than me.
I remembered when Rose first came to our house, how she clung to my father crying, pleading not to change her surname.
My father comforted her, "Rose, dear, it'll be okay when you're older."
I watched from a corner as Rose leaned on my father's shoulder, defiantly staring at me.
I ended up sleeping in that corner.
Of course, my mother, the CEO of Tucker Group, found out. She slapped my father, pointing at him,
"You actually brought your daughter over and changed her surname, giving her the finest treatment. Keith, if you dare treat them differently, you'll regret it."
Rose cried beside them.
I said it wasn't intentional. Would you believe me?
I had a huge argument with my mother, smashing many things, and in her anger, she yelled, "Jasmine! What more could you possibly want?"
I lay on the floor of my room, surrounded by darkness, pondering.
What more could I possibly want?
It was that day when Simon came, brought to our house by his father as a guest.
Rose, following her mother, was very beautiful.
I, taking after my mother, was plain-looking.
