His Beautiful Redemption

“Daddy, mommy.”

"Yes, Patty?"

Patty swallowed. "Aren't you tired yet?"

Patty saw the flash of astonishment on her parents' faces. From peeling the apple her mom pointed her attention at her.

"What are you saying, Patty?"

She swallowed but even that action made it difficult for her to do. Lately, Patty could feel her body and heart failing her.

"H-Aren't you tired of staying by my side yet?"

Patty saw pain crossed her mother’s eyes. Her eyes are also slightly wet. She let go of the apple and knife she was holding and then carefully grabbed her palm. Beside her, she felt her dad caressing her hair.

“K-never, we never get tired of staying by your side, Patty. We will never tire of fighting with you. As long as you are here, we are here. We are your parents. As well as your older brother Pace, ” said her mother.

"B-but you’re just hurting," she said softly.

“We are ready to be hurt over and over again, Patty. For you, ” said her dad.

Unbeknownst to her, tears streamed down her cheeks if her dad had not wiped them off.

“Sshh. Don’t cry. You are stronger than this. ”

Patty has heart disease. It is the condition that makes it difficult for her heart to pump blood so there are complications there. She has been going in and out of the hospital since she was little because of this illness. She is being treated with drugs but in recent months she has gotten worse until the only solution is heart transplant. She has been confined to the hospital for several months and is waiting for a heart donor.

Patty was feeling weaker every day. Even simple movements make it difficult for her. But she resists. As long as there is someone next to her, she will fight. Even though it's hard. Even if it hurts.

She had been battling this illness for sixteen years. Sixteen years of medications, hospitals, and fears. She thought she would never reach her twentieth birthday. She feared she would leave her family behind. She was afraid of dying young.

She still has a lot to achieve. She still has a lot to do. She still has a lot to achieve. But what if her own body gives up?

Patty looked at the door when it suddenly opened. Doc Blake rushed into her room. His smile widened as he looked at her.

"We found a heart compatible with you, Patty," he said directly.

Patty seemed deaf. She tightened her grip on her parents' hand. Did she hear right?

"Can you please say that again, Doc?"

Doc Blake smiled. “Someone found a heart for you, Patty. We can now start your heart transplant operation. ”

Doc Blake's words did not sink into Patty's brain. It looks like her brain doesn't want to absorb it. She could not understand.

"Patty, my daugther, you'll be fine," her mother said softly.

"I'll get better?" she asked again, not believing what she was hearing.
