Our arrangement ended nicely and quietly. It’s our little secret so it ended a secret too. Although Sari know it now. Well, she’s my best friend after all.

“I already have a date,” I said grinning.

“Shoot. Who?” His eyebrows shot up. We’re walking slow and his hand is still on my back but his attention is full on me.

“You don’t know him,” I said dismissing him.

“So that’s why you’re glowing, huh?”

I stopped walking and glared at him. “What are you talking about?”

He chuckled. “I know you were seeing someone. You know how rumors go.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “He’s just another you.”

“At first, I thought it was. But seeing you like this? I don’t know, Ami. You even turned me down this time.” He said playfully.

Not that I have been saying yes to all of his offers before, but every time that I don’t have an ‘exclusive partner’ I still go back to Stan. And the guy knows it.

I glared at him. “You’re crazy. Stop babbling. I never remembered you to be this talkative.”

“Fine,” He’s laughing. “This way,” In the end, he dropped the subject and introduced me to the other judges instead.

Stan is also one of the judges and we’re seating next to each other in the panel. We’ve been talking in between sets but I keep on glaring at him whenever he’s asking me to ditch my date that night and go home with him instead.

Before they announce the winner, I already receive a message from Ford saying he’s almost here. I replied with a simple ‘OK’ since Stan’s been hovering at me whenever I am using my phone.

Stan and I gave the sash, trophy, a bouquet of flowers, and other prizes from the sponsors to the first runner-up. When the pageant’s over, I texted Ford that I’m coming out.

We cannot be seen in public, depends if we’re both invited to that certain event. But in situations like this, we can’t.

I can’t risk people knowing who I was screwing this time. They can talk about me or spread rumors about me but they can’t know who.

Roswell:

Hurry up. I parked on the left side of the venue.

Stan kept on insisting on walking with me and Kelly outside.

“Damn, it Stan!”

He chuckled. He’s enjoying annoying me!

“Seriously. Just go back inside.”

“What, you’re afraid that I’ll see your date? Hmm?”

I sighed. I’m losing my patience. I just want to go. I told Kelly to go first and just wait for me outside. And whenever Ford fetches me, which rarely happens because I usually say no, I let Kelly book a car first.

But we’re supposed to discuss something about my schedule so I have to talk to her first, and Stan is not helping. He’s annoying.

He put his hands in his pocket. Stan’s dashing. He’s already in his mid-thirties but he looks like he’s just around my age. I know a lot of women in the circle who wanted to be with him but he’s like me, and we’re not the commitment and marrying type.

“C’mon.” He nods and walked before me.

I didn’t move. Shit. I don’t want him to see Ford. I don’t want anyone seeing Ford right now.

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” I said in a serious voice. I put my hands on my waist. I am getting serious.

He just laughed. “Shoot. Seriously. You’re really mad?” He came back and stood in front of me close. Too close.

I had to move back and look around us. But he moved much closer.

That’s when my eyes saw a figure standing a few meters from us.

Si Ford. I’m screwed.
