Luckily, I'm a ghost and am not heartbroken.
From the moment I entered the bridal store, I just couldn't help but be out of my mind.
But I'm not the only one who's out of his mind.
Megan kept calling out to Lucas, "Lucas, Lucas. do you want to see if it's good?"
Lucas looked back and said perfunctorily, "Well, it looks good."
Megan could see that Lucas was distracted and deliberately asked, "Is Lucas thinking about Zoe?"
Lucas didn't answer.
But as the saying goes, an answer to a question is an answer to a question.
I saw Megan's clenched fists, but a thoughtful smile remained on her face, "Then Lucas look for Zoe, it's been a year since my sister came back, what if something happens."
Lucas was back to his cynical self, "If you're such an adult, can't you lose it? Don't ever come back if you can."
A dead man, indeed, does not come back.
Megan said, "Sis might be home, waiting for her brother to pick her up. Let's go together and find out."
Lucas said no with his mouth, but his movements were as honest as they come, and before long, I was following them, back to my mom's house.
I live in a run-down neighborhood with poor soundproofing all around me, and on Megan's third knock on the door and shouting my name, my neighbor across the street impatiently opened the door, "What are you knocking for? It's over."
Megan said politely, "Excuse me Auntie, we're here to see someone."
The neighbor rolled his eyes impatiently, "No one has lived in his house for a long time, hurry up."
As soon as she heard I wasn't there, Megan happily took Lucas by the arm and prepared to leave, an undetectable loss appearing on Lucas' face.
Only the next moment, the neighbor rambled, "I really don't know what there is to find in a dead man."
Lucas paused, and in the next second, he blocked his neighbor, who was about to close the door, with his arm.
The neighbor yelled, "Are you sick?"
Lucas' eyes went scarlet, "What did you say? What dead person? Who's dead?"
The neighbor said in a good-natured way, "You don't know, a year ago today, a little girl committed suicide here."
After that he gave Lucas a shove and quickly closed the door.
Lucas's cell phone rings, at that moment.
Finally, today is the day, and I'm smiling.
Lucas, knowing that I'm dead, what exactly will you do?
Will it be in the same desperate agony as I was in the beginning?
I'm sure Lucas has a sick love for me.
After my dad got the money from Lucas' place, he still had a hard-on and went back to gambling.
The result was predictable, and he lost his money again.
He called me again, "I didn't realize you were quite capable, Lucas knows you lied to him, and I'm surprised you haven't been kicked out yet."
He started threatening me again, "I want three million dollars, and I want it tomorrow, and if you don't give it to me, I can't guarantee that your mother will be able to live in peace after she dies."
This bastard, he tried to dig up my mom's grave.
That night, I went to a karaoke bar and found Lucas, who hadn't been home for a long time.
Lucas saw me and instantly changed his face.
I walked up to Lucas and said, "Lucas, help me."
Lucas raised an eyebrow, "What? Came to ask for money? How much?"
"Three million."
Lucas smiled contemptuously, "Zoe, you're quite the lion."
I took Lucas's hand and said humbly, "My dad said if I don't give it to him, he's going to level my mom's grave, Lucas, please help me. I'll get the address and remove my mom for burial, for the last time, please help me."
Lucas yanked me down on the couch as he cupped my chin and asked, "Zoe, what makes you think you're worth three million dollars for a word?"
I couldn't speak at the question and could only look at him helplessly.
"These are my friends, they're all rich, rich kids, so if you keep them company, I'll give you three million dollars."
Lucas' words pierced my heart.
But I choked back a smile and said, "Good."
I picked up the wine on the table and toasted one person at a time, one bottle at a time.
Drink until you fall to the floor, unconscious.
The last thing I remember is the moment at the bottom when Lucas whispered in my ear, "Zoe, you're so cheap."
He wanted me to have a bad time and started getting mad revenge on me.
But he couldn't let me have a bad time.
The only one who makes me bad is him, no one else.
In the end, Lucas somehow managed to not only move my mom's grave, but my dad never contacted me again.
