(Chapter 5)

'SLOW'

The day passed quickly. Eren has been here for a week. I am happy because somehow he is handing me money.

The other day I found a place in town. I sell vegetables there.

our system is still the same. I sleep in the room while he spends the night on the small and old couch.

He told me that he was going to buy a new couch. Your bigger. I just shrugged my shoulders because it wasn't my money to spend. I was surprised that one day the couch in our living room was new. He put the old one outside the house.

I couldn't stop smiling when I saw that. There is one long couch and two smaller ones. Even the table in the middle is also new. The house seemed to be enriched somehow.

"You're going to sleep well." I will tease him.

"Your house looks like a house." he teased back. I told him to close the door because of that.

One day I was washing the dishes while Eren was watching TV in the living room. the volume of the tv was loud so I was able to listen while washing.

"UNTIL NOW, THE WHEREAS OF MGA SALVEDRE'S SON HAS NOT BEEN FOUND. THE AUTHORITY IS STILL LOOKING FOR IT AND THE FAMILY OF THE SAID YOUNG MAN HAS NOT LOST HOPE. IT HAS BEEN RAISED BY MR. aLIANDRO SALVEDRE CONGRATULATIONS TO TEN MILLION--"

My eyebrows meet when the news is suddenly interrupted. I was alarmed when I felt Eren walking towards me. He took a glass from the side before pouring water.

"Why did you turn off the TV?" I asked while busy doing.

he drank the water quickly. He translated again before swallowing a drink. He looked at me then.

"I don't understand what I'm watching, huh." he answered gently before putting the drink in the sink. I pulled back slightly as our skins touched. I saw that he also looked at me because of that.

I seem to be grounded by what happened. I swallowed hard before continuing to wash.

"W-what don't you understand there?" I stammered. Calming oneself. He distanced himself a little. He leaned on the side of the sink before placing his arms on his chest. He watched what I was doing." You don't understand because you are not in their situation."

"What do you mean?" his eyes narrowed. He is now staring at me. I suddenly felt a sense of belonging.

"You don't understand the feeling of losing a child..." I glanced at him for a moment but immediately returned to the dishes.

"Why? Did you have a child?" he asked seriously.

"No." I answered quickly before turning to him. We stared at each other there and I let myself drown in the depth of his gaze."But I've lost my parents... it feels the same..."

"How do you feel?" he asked in a monotone. I slowly looked away from him before bowing. I took a deep breath.

"M-it hurts." I answered emotionally.

"Pain will eventually fade, Mari." he muttered before leaving me.

The next day I woke up early. I didn't know that I would find Eren awake at that time.

We stared at each other for a while when I left the room. I saw her pass the spaghetti strap dress I was wearing before looking away.

"I'm done taking a shower." I barely grimaced."You can take a shower."

He stood up from sitting. Can't look at me straight now. he walked closer to me causing me to stop for a moment.

"Where are you?" he asked while swallowing.

"I-I'll buy breakfast outside." I answered before leaving his driveway.

"Just wearing it like that?" His eyebrows met. The edge of my lips lifted slightly.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I mocked. I let myself pass before looking at him again.

"W-no..." he looked stifled."Ill take a fast shower."

I passed him before he burst out laughing.

"Even if it's a slow shower." I teased. When I glance at him. He is now fuming mad. I just laughed at him before leaving the house.

I walked on a muddy and bumpy road. I let mud get on my feet. That cannot be avoided.

On the way I met Macoy. The other day we met but he was always amazed when we met again. it's like he just saw me again.

"Come..." he said half smiling. I stopped walking to talk to him.

"Oh, Macario."

"What are you doing? It's Macoy!" he scratched his head with a smile. I also smiled because of that.

"Oh, Macoy." I lightly touched my hair when the wind suddenly picked up. I looked up to see the sky. I saw the person I was talking to did the same.

"It looks like the weather is not good today." he said while looking at me. I kept looking at the cloudy sky.

"That's why... there's a storm."

"Where are you going?" he suddenly asked. I looked down at him innocently.

"At the bakery... I'll buy our breakfast." I answered with a smile.

"Your wife?" he asked hesitantly. I nodded in response."Is it okay if I join you?"

"Maybe the rain will catch you? Don't." I refused but he insisted.

"It's okay... we probably won't last long..."

"S-alright."

In the end, he accompanied me to the bakery to buy pandesal. He also bought his so I let it go.

"Where did you meet your husband, Mari?"Macoy asked suddenly in the middle of our walk back down the muddy road. I abruptly swallowed the lump in my throat.

"Uhm..." I bit my lower lip. When I turned to him, he avoided looking at my face."I-I met him at work..."

"His family is rich? You're lucky."

"I-I'm not based on wealth." I faked a laugh."If you really love someone. It doesn't matter what status in life you accept. It can't be called love if you only see bad qualities. You won't find anything that is perfect in the world. Look for the truth. the right person. That's how it should be."

"Do you think he's the right person for you?" he sounded hesitant.

"I won't marry him otherwise." I tried to smile. In his mind, he cursed himself several times for lying to himself and his friend.

We continued walking. Macoy and I talked a lot while walking back home. There are acquaintances we meet who tease us with each other causing us both to laugh.

"He's already married." Macoy answered with a laugh. I also laughed and let them go.

Eren caught us laughing when we got back to the house.

He was outside the house staring at us seriously. It folded its arms as we approached.

"Oh, what are you doing out here? Are you hungry?" I asked, still laughing a little.

He just raised an eyebrow before frowning. He moved his strong gaze to the man on my side.

"Macoy accompanied me, we bought breakfast." I exclaimed. Macoy was slightly bowed.

"It's good that the rain didn't catch you." he said coldly. We both looked at each other then he raised an eyebrow at me.

"N-no..." I said.

"S-alright, Maristela. I'll go ahead of you." Macoy smiled at us. I just nodded to him before he left.

When I looked at Eren I now had his full attention.

"It's going to rain." he said firmly.

"There's a storm today..." I said before looking up at the overcast sky.

"Tsk, It's good that the rain didn't catch you on the way..." he laughed. "Because of your slow pace."

"What did you say?" I asked him.

He turned his back on me and went inside.

"Put it in here. I'm hungry!"
