Before I could ask, Arthur continued. "I know that you're the daughter of the hunter," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "But I don't care. I want you, Arlyn. And I'll do anything to make you mine."
I felt my heart race at his words. I knew that my father would never approve of me being with someone like Arthur. But at the same time, I couldn't help but feel drawn to him. He was dangerous, yes, but he was also exciting and alluring.
"I don't know," I whispered. "I don't know if this is a good idea."
Arthur stepped closer, his eyes burning with intensity. "Trust me, Arlyn. I'll protect you. I'll keep you safe."
I felt a strange sense of comfort in his words, even though I knew that they were probably a lie. But I couldn't help it. I was drawn to him like a moth to a flame, and I knew that I was in over my head.
We spent hours talking, laughing, and exploring the school grounds together. I couldn't help but feel like I was falling for him, even though I knew that it was dangerous.
But at the same time, I couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something from me. Every time I asked him about his past, he would either change the subject or give me a vague answer.
I knew that I needed to be careful around him, but I couldn't help feeling like I was under a spell. I was in love with him, even though I knew that he was dangerous and unpredictable.
I found myself growing more and more confused by Arthur's attention. He was charming, yes, but there was something dark and dangerous about him that made me uneasy.
I tried to avoid him, to keep my distance; but he was always there, always watching me with those intense blue eyes. And every time he spoke to me, I found myself drawn to him, despite my better judgment.
One day, as I was walking back to the dorms after class, Arthur caught up with me.
"Hey, Arlyn," he said, falling into step beside me. "How was your day?"
I tried to keep my voice casual. "It was fine. How was yours?"
Arthur smiled. "It was good. Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to join me for lunch today. There's a great little cafe in town that I think you'll love."
On one hand, I wanted to learn more about him and his motives; on the other hand, I knew that it was dangerous to be alone with him.
But before I could make up my mind, Arthur continued. "Please, Arlyn. I promise I won't bite."
I couldn't help but chuckle at his joke, despite myself. "Okay," I said finally. "I'll come with you."
Arthur's smile widened, triumph in his eyes. "Great. You won't regret it, I promise."
But as we sat down to eat, my nerves began to get the best of me. I couldn't help but feel like I was in over my head, like I was playing with fire.
"Arthur," I said suddenly, setting down my fork. "I need to know something. What are you hiding from me?"
Arthur's smile faltered, and for a moment, he looked almost vulnerable. "What do you mean?"
I mean that there's something about you that doesn't add up," I said, my voice growing stronger. "You're too charming, too perfect. And I know that there's something dark and dangerous about you. I just need to know what it is."
Arthur sighed, looking down at his plate. "You're right," he said finally. "There is something I haven't told you."
My heart was racing as I waited for him to continue.
"I'm a werewolf, Arlyn."
I felt a shiver run down my spine at his words. A werewolf? It was almost too unbelievable to be true.
"I know it's a lot to take in," Arthur continued, his voice growing more urgent. "But I need you to understand that I would never hurt you. I love you, Arlyn. And I'll do anything to protect you."
I felt a strange sense of comfort in his words, even though I knew that they were probably a lie. But at the same time, I couldn't help but feel like I was falling deeper and deeper into his web.
"I don't know what to say," I whispered finally.
Arthur reached across the table and took my hand. "Say that you'll still be mine," he whispered, his eyes filled with tears.
I looked into his eyes, and for a moment, I felt as if I were drowning. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't resist him.
"I'll still be yours," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper.
Arthur smiled, triumph in his eyes. "Thank you, my flower. You won't regret it, I promise."
Arthur led me to a vintage diner and pulled out a seat for me. "What would you like?" he asked.
Before I could respond, he said to the waiter, "Two cheeseburgers and fries."
I gave him a questioning look. He smiled reassuringly. "Trust me."
My family is rather...different. We have a close bond.
I tensed at his cryptic words. "Different how?"
Arthur took my hand. "Promise me you won't run away." I nodded hesitantly.
He took a deep breath. "We're werewolves. I'm the alpha of my pack; my family and close friends are part of it too."
I stared at him in shock; this had to be a joke. But Arthur gazed at me steadily, sincerity and vulnerability in his eyes.
"You're serious?" I asked faintly. He nodded.
Part of me wanted to flee, while another part felt drawn closer to this mysterious boy and his secret world.
Arthur watched me cautiously. "Say something," he pleaded.
I took a shaky breath. "I don't really know what to say. This is...a lot to take in."
Arthur squeezed my hand gently. "I know. But I had to be honest with you." He gazed at me hopefully. "Will you give me a chance?"
My mind swirled with doubts, fears, and curiosities. But as I looked into Arthur's open, earnest face, I heard myself say, "I will."
Arthur's grin lit up his face. "You won't regret it," he promised.
I wanted to believe him. Deep down, I knew there were dangers ahead in this dark world I'd just stumbled into.
