Chapter 6

Lycan Cyril’s pov

Silence befall the haze as the weight of my command sank in. Her beautiful eyes bulged with something like fear as she regarded Thompson who equally couldn't seem to place my demand.

It wasn't proper. I shouldn't have passed such an order. How couldn't I control myself when it came to her? Staring at her all through breakfast was enough to stir up suspicions from anyone already.

Thompson spoke. "Uh.. You mean we can….’’

“Forget it. I didn't mean it that way.’’ I dismissed immediately. Thankfully, Thomson didn't take it that I was referring to Alessia alone.

Alessia looked away disappointedly, and I made a conviction to control my stare from now on. Clearly, she didn't want Thompson to find out about our connection. At least not yet. And as much as it stings badly, I have to keep up with it.

“I feel really honoured to have been recognised by you. Tell me whatever it is you need me to do, and I promise to carry it out with immediate effect and to the best of your satisfaction, our great king.’’ Thompson went on, drinking from his wine to clear his food pipe.

‘Give Alessia up for me. She's my destined mate and I can't let you have her for anything.’ I fought the burning urge to say.

“I heard of how well recognised your pack is among others and how you've been doing well in managing it since you took over from your father.’’ I said instead.

I really did get that from my investigations on him, although my investigations are yet to yield any satisfying information. Maybe little talks with him could sip some useful information to kick-start my plans.

“Oh. That's a hundred percent correct, my king.’’ He answered proudly. “Which also brings us to the part where working in hands with me will definitely be favourable to you.’’ He added.

My curiosity spiked at his outburst. Did he have a proposal for me?

Alan stepped in just then, disrupting the moment. Well, he must have some news. That must be the only reason he was back in the mansion and dared to interrupt the breakfast.

“Good morning. I'm sorry for interrupting, I need to speak to the Lycan.” He confiscated.

Clearing my throat, I stole a quick glance at Alessia who has bluntly refused to spare a glance my way. I had to either dismiss them, or excuse myself to talk with Alan.

I wished I could get a longer view of Alessia in that dress. The image of her alluring frame from when I came in earlier was still etched in my memory, well aside the stinging part that she stuck to Thompson like a life support.

‘‘That's okay. We were done with our meal already.’’ Thompson smiled again. Does his cheeks not hurt?

He pulled Alessia up, aside that she didn't find it offensive since she had personally been impatient to leave my presence.

I couldn't take in her whole as they bowed and left. It was clearly lust driving me, but lust for my mate isn't so bad.

“Get your shit together.’’ Alan snapped his fingers to my face.

“I can't seem to make any contacts her wolf. It bugs me. Finn can't connect with her wolf and the mate pull seems to be less effective on her part. Or am I just overthinking things?’’ I voiced my worries.

“I don't think you are.’’ Alan sat. “She doesn't have a wolf.’’

“What did you get?’’ I inquired seriously.

“I don't quite understand the story. Some sources says she's wolfless, others said her wolf is disabled. But no one knows the cause or the cure.’’ He explained.

“What is that supposed to mean?’’ I frowned, finding this news really annoying and puckering to my ego.

“She got married to her husband even though he wasn't her mate. I guess that's why the man doesn't show much interest in her. He was forced to marry her when his pack came in a ruckus and needed help from her pack. Meanwhile their fathers were good friends, so the marriage happened with immediate effect.’’ Alan went into details, one thing he had never failed with.

‘‘They are from different packs?’’

“They used to be. Once her husband took over from his father, he lunched moves to take over her pack as well and succeeded. The rumors say it was this occurrence that led to her father's death.’’ He replied.

“That scumbag! I knew he wasn't clean.’’ I growled, Finn acting up inside me.

This obviously meant Thompson didn't love her, but she still held her commitment to him.

“We've just gotten to the most interesting part yet.’’ Alan continued, a smirk tugging at the edge his lips.

“I hear that although his pack progresses well, they still suffer some setbacks. He owes a huge sum and the pack faces threat for it’’

‘‘Okay, and?’’ I wasn't getting where the point was.

“That's where you come in. Be the saviour of the pack and he'll forever be indebted to you. He might hand over his wife to you then.’’ Alan shrugged.

I scoffed. That was the most ridiculous idea I'd ever heard of. This was my mate in question, was all these petty procedures necessary?

“You don't think so?” Alan read from my expression.

“You make it sound like I'm trying to snatch his wife. I mean she's my mate!’’ I echoed.

“But she is his wife. Married and even birthed a child for him. You don't think he'll just let you take her. She won't even agree to it.’’ Alan scoffed. He seemed pissed, but I shouldn't be worried about that.

I hated to admit it but Alan was right. Not about Thompson, I didn't really care about his opinion. But Alessia. She seemed resolute about her commitment to Thompson, it gleamed heavily in her eyes that night.

“You know she's the only way out for us. You have to ignore your ego and put it all on the line to get her. Anything at all it requires.’’ Alan reckoned, reminding me of the actual drive behind my quest for her all these years.
