Chapter 3

Adam's company had many employees.

In the past three years, I rarely set foot here.

More precisely, I rarely went out.

When we first married, I had some expectations for this marriage. On that day, at his request, I came to deliver documents to him. But when I pushed open the office door, I saw him sitting with a woman on his lap, joking around.

The girl was beautiful, with red lips and white teeth, and a curvaceous figure. His fingers lingered on her neck, causing her to blush.

When Adam heard the door open, he looked up at me without a trace of panic at being caught by his wife. He even shamelessly asked me to take over the secretary's duties and notify the other employees about a meeting.

Because the secretary was sitting on his lap, busy being intimate with him, and couldn't handle the office work.

I left the company in tears, passing by two employees.

They whispered to each other.

"Who is that? Looks like she came out of Adam's office."

"Shh... Keep your voice down. That's Adam's wife!"

"How could this be? She's so old and plain, and Adam is young, successful, and handsome. Why would he marry someone like her?"

The bright, polished elevator doors reflected the image of a haggard woman.

I looked pale and frail. Even designer clothes looked cheap on me.

I wiped away my tears and hid inside the elevator.

After that, I seldom came to the company and gradually learned to ignore Adam and not to waste any more emotions on him.

"Who are you? How dare you enter Adam's office?" Just as I was sitting on the sofa lost in thought, a sharp rebuke came from behind me.

I turned around and saw a young, pretty girl standing at the door, frowning.

Before I could speak, her colleague, who was holding documents, gently tugged at her sleeve.

"Heather, this is Jasmine."

Hearing this, unlike the employees who had to restrain themselves because of my identity and showed me respect, Heather widened her eyes, her face showing hostility.

"So you're Jasmine... Nice to meet you. I'm Heather."

I didn't know where her confidence came from, but as soon as she introduced herself, I understood.

Heather was Adam's new love.

Unlike the previous women who had ambiguous relationships with him that didn't last, Heather had been doted on by Adam for three months straight, breaking his curse of breaking up every full moon.

He even ignored the murmurs of other executives in the company and hired Heather, who hadn't yet received her diploma, placing her in an important assistant position.

It was well-known in the circle that the prodigal son was turning back, getting ready to settle down.

And the person making him settle down wasn't me.

The last sentence was unspoken. It was about time for me to step aside.
