CHAPTER 5
The revenge plan.
That evening I visited a mineral shop and sold a quarter of the gold, which I deposited into my new bank account because I planned on using a check.
I also went to a boutique and got myself some dresses and shoes, I was going there as a potential investor and client, so I had to look the part.
I decided that I’d sleep in the house that night, I wanted to feel my family’s presence, to know that I wasn’t alone. All night long my thoughts were haunted by the past, knowing that I’d see George and Tami again, the two people who tried to have me killed filled me with the worst possible anger and dread. I imagined going up there with a gun and shooting them both in the heads but I knew that I’ll be arrested immediately, I would gain nothing and I might never see my brother again, these thoughts calmed me down, and o decided to proceed carefully, Everything depended on me sticking to the scripts, I won’t fuck it up.
The next day.
I stood outside the sleek glass building, my heart beating with anxiety, this was it. I wore my sunglasses and walked into the building, my heels clicking on the marble floor. The receptionist looked up at me.
Can I help you?” She asked. I introduced myself as Mrs Gabriella Fox and stated my claim, in a few moments later she escorted me to the elevator and led me into a luxurious office suite. The man sitting at the desk looked up and I saw that it was George. Seeing him sitting there evoked so many memories I had kept buried and I struggled to keep a straight face.
He looked me up and down and broke into a smile. “Hello, have a seat”. He said, his eyes roaming around my body. “You fool, still can’t control yourself around a beautiful trim woman,” I thought inwardly.
I took the chair opposite his and sat down. “So how can I help you?” He asked.
I cleared my throat, “My name is Gabriella, Gabriella Fox, actually I’ve been checking your stocks in the market and I can see you guys make quite a profit here and I would love to invest in it.”
At that moment the office door opened and Tami walked in, she looked the same as the last time I saw her, except now her complexion was darker and she wore her hair in a pageboy hairstyle that made her look like a man. On seeing a young beautiful woman in the office I saw her guard up, she walked to George and gave him a kiss on his cheek before taking the couch near us. From his reaction I could tell that they were already cracks in their relationship, maybe it was her haircut.
George spoke. “Gabriella Fox, I’m not sure I’ve heard of you quite frankly.”
I put on my best smile. “Yes, my husband was the one that took care of business but now that he’s gone I have to rise to the task” I lied.
“Oh I’m very sorry to hear that,” George said, but I could see from his expression that he wasn’t sorry at all, he was probably glad to know that there was no man in my life.
At this point, Tami spoke. “George you know that we don’t work with private establishments, we require maximum funding and it’s not something a privately owned business can raise”. She told him, giving me a smug smile.
I smiled some more. “I intend on putting nothing less than 10 million dollars miss, you don’t have to worry about low funding.”
She looked like I had slapped her across the face.
“Very well then,” George said happily. “I think we have a deal. Good, I thought.
We shook hands.
“Why don’t we celebrate this partnership over dinner?” He asked, looking me over.
I raised an eyebrow, pretending to think. “I’m not sure, I’m a very busy woman, and I don’t mix business with pleasure,” I told him.
He leaned forward, looking into my eyes. “This is strictly business Mrs. Fox, it would be good for us to get to know each other, considering that we would be working closely together”.
I pretended to give in. “Okay, Mr. George. Dinner it is”. I gave him my cellphone number. “Text me the address and other details.
He nodded happily. From the corner of my eye, I could see Tami regarding me suspiciously. I almost laughed, I hadn’t even started with her.
I rose up from my seat, bade them goodbye, and walked out of the office building. I got into a cab and as we drove I quickly booked a hotel, now that I had made myself known I needed to keep a low profile, and I didn’t want anything to link me with my past.
It was time for stage two.
