Chapter 5

Melissa widened her eyes and cursed under her breath numerous times before shifting to the other side uncomfortably.

Wait, was he playing with her? He knew that she was here yet he permitted Maze to come over here. This fucking bastard!

How did she believe that he was going to save her when he showed his oblivious hatred towards her uncountable times?

A new form of hatred coursed from the core of her mind. Shuffling her feet together, she was ready to face another battle since the noise of Maze's high heels tickling against the floor was approaching closer.

Drake who was momentarily lost in his thoughts stopped in a loud, yelling voice,

" STOP! Maze! "

Maze shuddered before turning around, a little taken back by his disapproval voice. Drake started finding a suitable reason to drive her away,

" I had a few notes in Mr. Kevin's room. Could you please bring those papers for me?"

Maze gave him a perfect smile. Nodding her head eagerly, she promised to drag her feet away from there enthusiastically,

" Sure, Drake. I will be coming back in a minute. Maybe I can help you make those notes. You know how awesome I was at math in our school days."

Maze muttered proudly and headed off for the doorway. Drake rolled his eyes at her retreating. He hated this kind of woman who only knew how to boost herself up their self in front of others. Honestly, Melissa was different in comparison to others. She never hid her weakness from others which caught his attention on the first day of their meeting.

On the other side, Melissa released her air-filled stomach that was getting suffocated because of her panic attack.

Drake's voice rang out from the office room,

" Come out now! "

Melissa tidied her skirt and prepared herself mentally for whatever was waiting for her. Her feet stumbled on her way to Mr. Hale who was now signing a few documents.

As she stopped by his desk, Drake pulled his eyes up to stare at her coldly. Dropping the pen that was held between his forefingers, he questioned in a authoritative voice,

" Do you know what have done wrong?"

Melissa nodded her head like a rattle absentmindedly. Letting out an exhale, she answered keeping her tone polite as much as possible,

" I..I am sorry..I..I won't repeat it.. again..Sir.."

Drake dropped his hand on the table leisurely. Keeping his gaze focused on her expression, he asked dramatically,

" Give me a reason to forgive you, Miss Carter. You aren't even my best student but a super disobedient one who never pays attention to my classes. Then why should I let go of this chance of teaching you a good lesson, Miss Carter?"

Melissa dropped her eyes down once again embarrassingly. He was right about his statement but a part of her wanted to clean herself here.

Drake shook his head helplessly at her silence. Hauling up from his chair, he continued in a disappointed voice,

" You will try your best to do well in the exam. Was it too hard to utter, Miss Carter?"

Melissa looked up at him blankly.

Was he trying to encourage her to do well? Since when did Drake Hale start caring about her?

Surprisement was plastered on her face. Drake looked away from her awkwardly.

Was it too oblivious to his intentions?

Changing the topic wisely, he announced reaching out to pull a few question papers. Pushing them towards Melissa, he demanded taking his position back in his office chair,

" I want you to solve each question paper from the past, Miss Carter. If you face any issues, you are always welcome to find me for additional classes without any charge."

Melissa picked up the papers nervously and swallowed down at the number of questions that were on those papers. She muttered mentally cursing herself for using such a lame idea,

" But sir..I am not.. good..at Math.."

Drake dismissed urgingly,

" As I said, you are welcome to find me anytime, Miss Carter. Now you may leave before I change my mind about saving you this time."

Melissa widened her eyes, thanked abruptly, and flew away as soon as possible from there.

Drake shook his head helplessly at her flying back. This gal..She never uses her common sense. What if he didn't appear on time?

**********

Thanks to her troublesome friend, Stefan who didn't come to his class today. It saved Melissa's time to work on the question papers that were delivered by Drake in the morning. She spent a few moments eating her tiffin and rest of her time was spent on scratching her brain hard on solving those long maths. After an uncountable number of failure attempts, she finally believed that she couldn't do it without the assistance of her professor, Drake Hale.

Pausing between her tasks, she finally gave up and waited patiently for the bell to ring.

Two hours later as the lessons ended, Drake entered into his office room with a grimace expression hanging on his face. Looking down at his muddy pants, he only felt his blood boiling to come out as an erupted volcano.

He was crossing the corridor when a dirty basketball was thrown over his pants. It was some boys who played in the courtyard. Though it wasn't intentional and they apologized repeatedly, Drake was angry. He hated to wear dirty clothes.

Fortunately, he always had his fresh piece of clothes in his office room. Walking over to the mini wardrobe, he pulled out a closet and slipped out from the one that he was wearing.

Since no one entered his office without his permission, he wandered around freely. Leaving with only a boxer and a suit on his upper body, he was straightening his clean pants to slide through. Much to his surprise, the door of his office room flung open without any prior notice and a panting voice echoed throughout the room, turning him freeze in his spot,

" Mr. Hale..are you here..? "
