This whole week at the office has been stressful for me , because as if the universe was against me , Mr Delgado did not travel out to his other branches .

So I made it a priority to avoid him . I've always been in the shadows and I wanted to remain like that , especially now that he sees me as the girl that poured him coffee.

I stared at the clothes in my wordrobe with a frown on my face .

Black ?

Or white ? I wondered as I stared at the white Dress .

It's a gift from Omari on my 25th birthday last year and I've never even worn it .

Maybe I should wear this one " I thought and dropped it on my bed .

It's Friday night and well today is the blind date with the son of my mother's friend .

I could've said No if mom wasn't so obsessed with the whole idea .

The thing is we have a deal and if I dare refuse to go on this date , she is gonna have my head for it .

I checked my dress length which ended just above my knees.

" Hello ...Baby girl " I heard her voice and froze .

" Avy ? I said in shock .

" Hey Beautiful , So ... your mom told me to come help you out with your make up and all .

" I'm not a kid " I said immediately.

" Agreed but you are very innocent ,I think it has something to do with your lack of sexual experience." She said and my mouth opened and closed like a fish .

" How dare you " I said bitting my lower lip to stop myself from laughing.

" Oh please , you're looking gorgeous though ,but I'm gonna make you look even more gorgeous "

" Why do I need to even look too good when I'm gonna say no ? I asked and she raised her hands.

" Because first impressions matters a lot ,a girl gotta give it her best " she said and my eyes moved to her t shirt that ended just after her butts and black Croks slippers.

" Let me guess you came all the way from your house wearing this " I said and dragged the shirt down .

" Chill" she said with a light chuckle.

" I don't like you dressed like this " I said and she raised both hands up .

" I surrender , your Neighbor already roasted me just outside , your neighbor doesn't know the meaning of minding ones business" she said and I knew she was talking about Nana .

That old woman and her bad habit .

" Nana is a nice old woman ,she just needs to learn how to mind her business " I said and Avy smiled .

" So how is your hot Spanish Boss ? Zuri told me about your romantic meeting ,oh my goodness" she said excitedly.

" Zuri " I muttered under my breath ,what was I thinking when I told my crazy older sister about it .

" So have you guys met after that ? Did he say anything ? Did you guys kiss already ..." She trailed and my cheeks heated in a blush .

" This man is my Boss Avy " I said in embarrassment.

'" Whoever said you can't hook up with your boss ? Forbidden romance is the main thing " she said excitedly.

" I don't like unecessary drama ,just do the make up so I can go out . " I said and she sighed .

" Who knows you might end up not liking this guy you are going to meet " she said and I rubbed my forehead.

" Thanks " I muttered under my breath softly.

" Please don't turn my house upside down " I said as I got into my car .

" Pray I don't" she said flashing her white teeth at me .

I got into my car as I drove towards the resturant .

" Welcome to Blue dinner ma'am " the guy at the door said as he welcomed me into the resturant.

" Thank you " I said as and checked my phone again .

" Hello lady , you must be miss Imani lerato. This way ma'am Mr Brown is this way " The waiter said and I smiled politely as I walked with him .

We moved towards the Vip section and a dark skinned guy stood up on my arrival .

Tall dark with coffee coloured eyes .

He was wearing a Royal blue suit ,he flashed me a boyish smile and I returned it .

" Goodevning " I said and he extended his hands.

" You may leave " she said to the waiter who escused us immediately.

" I'm Davis Brown " He introduced himself as he moved my chair for me to take a sit before moving to his chair on the opposite side .

" I'm Imani lerato" I said and he smiled.

" You are so beautiful ,I can see why my mom was going on and on about you " he said and I stared at the table in front of me .

Noticing he had a bottle of strong alcohol on the table.

I wasn't late for the date , and he already drank almost half of such. Strong alcohol bottle.

What happens when he's alone ? Not judging but I'm not a fan of a man that smokes .

Neither am I a fan of a man that drinks .

His eyes followed my gaze and he laughed Akwardly.

" Hehehe just thought I should have fun a bit before you arrive Sweetheart" he said and I gave a nod .

" What do you do for a living ? He asked as we placed our orders .

" I'm a financial accountant " I replied softly as my eyes moved around the table studying every little detail .

" I'm a Doctor" he said and I nearly laughed at the Irony .

A doctor ,yet knowing all the risk involved he drinks without control ," I thought as he drank from his glass again and shook his head at the impact of the Alcohol.

" This is a strong one " he said and I looked away.

Mom " I muttered under my breath.

" Did you say something ? He asked frowning.

" No of cause not " I said frowning .

The date went on with him going on and about his experience in the medical field and his achievements as a man .

I stopped listening halfway through.

" So when are we going to see your parents ? He asked and I raised my eyebrows.

" Escuse me ? I asked .

" My mom said you're of marriagable age and praying for a man. So God finally answered your prayers " he said and I frowned immediately.

" Well your mom said Wrong Mr Brown " I said angrily.

I just couldn't wrap my head around the nonsense he was sprewing from his mouth .

" You're twenty six ..." he trailed .

" For your information I will be twenty six in a few months , and even if I'm twenty six I don't go around walking with a sign board that says I NEED A MAN ! I fired Angrily before I could stop myself.

" Why are you angry ? Is this how you talk to a man ? He asked offended .

" Well this is how I treat a man who decided to act less of a man " I said and stood up .

'" Where are you going ? He asked staring in amusement.

" Listen and listen good Mr Brown or purple whatever you call yourself . Your personality sucks ! " I snapped.

" ma'am " the waiter said coming over to me with the bill.

I opened my purse and cleared the bill before making my way out with my head high .

What did he take me for ?

As I walked towards my car my phone rang .

It was mom ,I wouldn't have picked if I was still inside ,but since it didn't work out And I was angry I picked out .

" Ma " I muttered under my breath.

" How was it " she said excitedly.

" Terrible ,all thanks to you I'm angry . Can you stop with the matchmaking already ? You are hurting me " I said sadly as my eyes stung with tears .

I'm always Vunerable when it comes to my mom .

" I'm sorry Baby ... I'll be in your apartment " she said worriedly.

" I'm fine mom ,can you just pause with the matchmaking for some time please..." I trailed .

" But. " Mom caught me .

" She's definitely gonna stop dear , now go him freshen up and get some rest okay" Dad said and I knew she had me on speaker.

" I love you dear " mom said and I knew of a fact that she did .

" Love you too " I said Calmly . Knowing mom she will stop for just a few days then go back to normal .

" I like you and that was why I agreed when our mothers decided we should date " Abby said excitedly her Spanish accent dripping off each word .

" What do you think ? She asked holding my hands from the opposite side and I took my hand from her grip.

" Abigail the reason I decided to go on this date was to make things clear ." I said and she gasped .

" You like me too right ? I knew it " she said blushing shyly.

" I'm not interested in any relationship right now . " I said and she frowned .

" But I just told you i like you " she said and I took a deep breath in and out .

" I have a girlfriend ,I was only being polite because my mom invited you over " I said and she stood up .

" You are also disrespectful towards me and so not a gentleman " she said angrily.

" I haven't done anything wrong ,I made sure you had a good reception on your arrival here " I said and she stared at me hands folded .

" Oh really I haven't seen you since I got here till this evening .

" I've been here since on Thursday ,I cancelled all my appointments to be with you ! And all you did was avoid me .you are so annoying Mr Delgado"

" Gracias" I muttered under my breath .

She scoffed ,picked her purse and walked towards the exit ,turned towards me and gave me the fvck you sign .

This is so Embarrassing.

Throughout the ride home , my mind went back to the terrible date .

But what did I do wrong ? I made sure they gave her a good reception and I'm the bad person ?

I knew mom would call me any moment from now or worse tommorow morning.

Getting to my room in my Mansion , I got to work instead of going to bed .

The next morning I groaned in frustration as my phone rang .

Every ounce of sleep escaped my body the moment my eyes met with the caller ID.

" Bounos Dias Madre [Good morning mother ] " I said under my breath.

" Buen dia mi hijo [ Good morning my son ]

" You called " I said trying not to annoy her .

" I called because you have decided to kill me before my time "she snapped.

" Madre I will never try to kill you and you know that " I said calmly .

" No trates de jugar inteligente conmigo hijo [ Don't try to play smart me son] she said dangerously.

" mom Abby and I cannot work out " I said Immediately.

" What do you mean by that when you haven't tried her out ? Are you gay ? Is a man going to be my daughter in-law ? What am I even saying tell me now let me die " she said dramatically.

" Mom ..." I trailed .

" You will not succeed mi hijo [ my son ] she spat in Spanish.

" I have a girlfriend" I said before I could stop myself and silent fell on the others.
