CURRENTLY
Arabella
I wake up to the insistent noise of the alarm clock. That thing kept ringing for a moment, with that infernal sound that pounded my head and kept me from sleeping. With my hand, I grope the table next to my bed looking for that evil device. As soon as I find the meeting, I sit on the bed blindly looking with my feet my slippers, shim them and go to the bathroom.
After the bath I'm more awake, I follow to the room Choose an outfit, I'll get dressed, opt for a dark skinny jeans and a floral print gown, while I look for my phone in the mess of the sheets that are in my bed. After I find him, I check the schedule and see that it's 7:10 in the morning, I wear the sandals I find under the bed. I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, comb my hair and finish getting ready. Then I put the cell phone in the bag as well as toothbrush, toothpaste, a gloss, and apartment key as soon as I leave and stride.
I walk the way to my service in half an hour, still five minutes in advance to get to West Communications, I take advantage and pass in the cafeteria buying a cappuccino to deceive hunger i no longer had time to eat anything at home. I rush into the reception that is miraculously empty.
I celebrate internally the possible food poisoning that renata's nausea, the receptionist, must have suffered. Because the woman never stays out of her post at the reception, she is always present at eight o'clock sharp with that sour face and being the usual boring. She wasn't here today.
Still siluting my cappuccino, hastily contouring the reception desk, i'll take my company's ID card out of the bag and step in front of the digital reader, who soon releases my entry. But as the world seems to be against me, the first thing that happens and triggers in the others to follow, could have happened in slow motion and I still would not believe. runs like a madwoman back to her post, and bumps into me, pouring virtually all the contents of the glass that was in my hand over my body. The first sensation was that of the skin burning like fire. The second, an outofse rage inside me.
I look at the damage done. I note my wet and stained gown becoming transparent because of the liquid, as well as leaving my skin sticky. The only attitude I can have right now is to run and enter the first room I see in front of me. As soon as I walk in, I go to the bathroom by touching the door, and I remove the gown while remaining only in a bra from the waist up. I put the piece on top of the toilet lid, take a piece of toilet paper soaking it with water and place it over the region of the lap, where it burn like hell. It hurts like hell! So much so that my eyes fill with tears. I tear out a few more pieces of paper to dams them again, and i go down on the ground waiting for the skin to calm down.
I keep for a few minutes with my eyes closed and lying in a marasmus of pain, however, when I decide it's time to step up and move on, I hear some voices coming from the room.
BLIMEY! NOW IT'S SCREWED FOR GOOD, I think of myself almost panicking and my heart shot at a thousand an hour. Why do I have to be such an unlucky banana? I wonder what I've done wrong in my past life. I was certainly a much more grumpy person and growled at my door neighbors, it just might be!
Apparently, the situation is that now there are two men talking excitedly about anything I have not the slightest interest and so I make a point of not paying attention.
My blood turns pure ice into my veins like the tip of the iceberg that sank the Titanic, instantly recognizing the two voices that reach my ears. Anthoni's first, my boss. Shit, shit, shit a thousand times! The second, miguel's, the boss's pupil and the darling of the majority. Then I realize belatedly that the room I had rushed into was simply Anthoni's. Bella, what the hell did you do, you freak?
I desperately plead for a divine force, to a higher being to get me out of this problem and get those two out of here as fast as I can, so I can get back together and sneak out without being noticed by anyone.
Is that possible? I wonder anxiously gnawed the corner of the fingernail of the thumb.
I think I would be unable to escape this miserable situation. It's murphy's law, it can only be, my life is a disaster. After a few minutes of talk thrown away and an endless affliction inside my chest, I hear perfectly when my death sentence is declared by Miguel when he asks to use the bathroom. Just now, you freak? Can't you hold on for a little while and do it later? Do you happen to have a pregnant bladder? I question it in my head as I roll my eyes. I hear your footsteps approaching, and even if I were the greatest sprinter of my generation, I could get back on my feet in time, so I settle for my ruin and remain the same way I find myself.
The door opens, I keep my eyes closed and I hear a surprised exhale. Okay, that's the end of me. I open my eyes and come across a pair of very wide blue billets similar to mine, which soon swerve down to my bust and then turn to the opposite wall. Miguel sighs with the pretense of saying something, but I am faster and interrupt him by saying first.
- I'm not crazy, if that's what's going on in your head this second. And before you ask me what I'm doing here like this, I must say I have a very reasonable explanation. I got up with cappuccino that was supposed to have been my breakfast, that's if I hadn't had the misfortune of running into renata's tapiper receptionist, who happened to be running like crazy along the way. - I say it all at once, already imagining the judgment he's going to be making in his mind.
-Well... -Miguel scratches his neck with the frown. -This still does not explain the fact that it is without clothes right on the floor of anthoni's bathroom.. Does he know you're here? -Miguel questions suspicious, still with his gaze turned to the wall.
- First thing, just to clarify a little detail, I'm only here because it was the first room I could hide at the moment. Second, I'm not naked, I'm shirtless. And of course Anthoni doesn't know I'm here. But now I believe you'll know that you've seen me like this and you're sure to give me a damn about him, since I won't be able to get out of here anytime soon, let alone this way. That also adds to the fact that I can't move too much because this shit is fucking. -I complain by sketching a grimace of pain. - I'm even watching the whole company scene catch me in the act and I'm being fired by Anthoni. -I'm admatizing maximizing the eyes. - I admit I'm pretty screwed! - I'm already going into despair.
I continue with my monologue, between the delirium and the madness of being fired among other things, that I do not understand when Miguel approached where I am and crouching, looks at the wound as if it were some kind of experienced doctor examining his patient, for a few seconds, which are very embarrassing say in passing.
Can you get up, Arabella? -he asks without expressing any kind of embarrassment while I just feel the blush cover my hot faces.
I think so, yes. - I answer with a cake forming in my throat.
Bella, you really are a complete goof! I reproase myself harshly.
Then putting one of his hands on my back, Miguel pushes me up, and with the other, he holds my arm helping me stand up. Well, it wasn't as terrible as I thought... Then hurriedly he removes his blazer and places it over my body covering my partial nudity. For a few moments I don't understand what he's up to, and when I notice the expression of confusion clearly stamped on my face, he explains calming.
Because he's a really nice guy, I couldn't let you get out of here like that, and that outfit of yours over there, he points the indicator to my destroyed gown. There's no other way. Miguel says he's having fun with the situation. And from what I can tell you need to take a look at that burn there, because it doesn't look very promising. And have you ever wondered if it gets worse? It's better to stop by the hospital just to check out the discharge of conscience. And you don't have to worry, I'll warn Anthoni myself about what happened. I'm sure he'll understand. - he says he's going back to the seriousness of before.
And why are you helping me? -i want to do a dose of unbelief and mistrust. - We don't even speak well and you're all helpful to me. - I ask with a flea behind the ear.
I don't need a reason to help anyone. My parents taught me to be that way, to help those who need it without a motivation behind it. I do what I do no matter what. Now no more bullshit and go right before this gets any worse. - he says referring to the burn.
Visibly funny, I don't comment on anything else. I thank you and i pick up my purse coming out of the bathroom, being greatly appreciated to see that Anthoni is no longer in his living room. When I put my hand on the door handle, I hear a pigarrear.
Aren't you forgetting anything? -Miguel questions with obvious irony and I watch him back.
What's the out of here? I've thanked you, if it's about the blazer I bring back clean and passed on to you. -I answer without understanding him to what he plucks archaea a blonde eyebrow on top.
How about this? -it gestures to the blazer that looks more like a balloon in me so wide that it is and that by the way is open.
Chorus instantly made a ripe tomato. I was all defensive and Miguel was just trying to help me not pass an even bigger vex when i left here in this state. I close to the last button, I look at it once more and thank you again leaving like a rocket.
After passing the hospital I see that it had been nothing serious, the doctor just prescribed some ointments. I went to the pharmacy to buy everything I needed and had finally come home. I take a quick shower and shove myself back into the pants I had worn earlier, play a clean jacket to match and go to the kitchen to put the lasagna in the microwave. After eating, I check the schedule, and it's already 2:30, i'll take my purse, lock up the apartment and go back to the company. As soon as I put my feet in the reception and i'm removing the id card from the bag, Renata comes to me and starts talking wildly saying that everything was an accident and that I was also distracted.
Covert cow!
She kept talking as I passed my card on the reader. After I've authorized my entry, I turn to her and tell her to forget about it. Obviously it was just so she'd let go of my foot and keep walking. I stop in front of my boss's door and knock twice. At the same moment I hear one enter and open the door. Anthoni tells me to sit down and so I do.
What are you doing here? I heard what happened to you, Miguel informed me. I didn't expect to see you for the rest of the day. How are you doing? - he questions visibly concerned.
Anthoni is a great boss. He cares about his employees and treats them with respect, which few people do these days.
I'm fine, it was just a fright. The doctor prescribed some ointments, no big deal. I came back because I couldn't miss the day of service. Thanks for worrying, but can I get back to work? - Crazy indago to get out of there as fast as possible.
